And the media office of the Prime Minister said in a statement that "Nass" received a copy of it, (October 6, 2022), that "Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi arrived at the Iraqi-Jordanian border, to lay the foundation stone with the Jordanian Prime Minister, Bishr Hani Al-Khasawneh, for a project. The Iraqi-Jordanian electrical interconnection, and the announcement of its launch.  

  

Earlier, the Ministry of Electricity signed a contract with the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to implement a draft agreement to connect the electric grid and sell energy between the two countries, in the presence of a number of officials between the two countries.   

  

The Ministry of Electricity said in a statement that “Nass” received a copy of it (July 15, 2021) that “the contract was in the presence of the Undersecretary for Production Affairs (on behalf of the minister) Adel Karim, the Jordanian Minister of Energy Hala Zawati and the Jordanian ambassador in Baghdad, while the contract was signed by the Director General of the General Company for Transport Electricity for the central region of Brak Saad Nour Al-Shamti on the Iraqi side, and the Director General of the National Electricity Company, Amjad Al-Rawashdeh on the Jordanian side.    

  

She added, "The contract included providing Jordan to the Iraqi side, in the first phase of the project, with a capacity of (150) megawatts, after completing the interconnection network between the two countries, followed by the second phase, which allows the two sides to raise the capacity of electrical energy exchange."    

  

And the undersecretary (on behalf of the minister), - according to the statement, confirmed that "the ministry is interested in establishing this linking line because of its importance in the stability of the national system and the exchange of benefits between neighboring countries, including Iraq, and making it a corridor for the transmission of energy, and that the electrical linkage agreements will enhance Arab economic integration."    

  

The statement continued, "Zawati indicated, after the signing, the importance of the (Jordanian-Iraqi) connection in enhancing bilateral cooperation within the framework of Jordan's aspiration to connect with neighboring countries for the purposes of electrical energy exchange, which will contribute to the stability of electrical systems, and that the importance of the contract and its comprehensive strategic objectives for the energy sector is that Iraq be Jordan is a regional center for energy exchange in all its forms, and the Jordanian National Electricity Company will start the project with the executing company at the end of this year, provided that next summer we will reach high productivity, provided that the connection between the two countries is ready.

The statement added, "On the sidelines of the launch of the project's work, the two sides held a bilateral meeting, during which they discussed ways to develop bilateral relations and develop regional cooperation in light of the tripartite Baghdad summit, in which the leaders of Jordan, Egypt and Iraq participated."  

  

The meeting witnessed, according to the statement, "discussing the implementation of agreements concluded between the two countries and their implementation, especially in the areas of electrical interconnection, agriculture, transportation, food security, and in the field of financial and banking relations, and the development of their infrastructure."

Shafaq News/ The Minister of State for Information Affairs, the official spokesman for the Jordanian government, Faisal Al-Shboul announced on Thursday that the cost of the electrical connection between Iraq and Jordan amounts to 130 million dollars.

Al-Shboul said in a press statement on the sidelines of laying the foundation stone for the electrical connection project, that "Iraq will bear about $100 million, and the cost of the part related to Jordan is about $30 million."

He added, "We are completely ready for the connection, and the start of the connection will be very soon, and the Iraqi side needs until next summer to connect."

He pointed out that "the most important thing in this project, according to what the Iraqi Prime Minister said, is a practical step within a common vision," adding, "We are talking about Jordanian-Iraqi cooperation, and we are talking about Jordanian leadership in the field of energy, and this project is certainly strategic."

Shboul pointed out that "Jordanian Prime Minister Bishr Al-Khasawneh proposed to his Iraqi counterpart the issue of the economic city, and the Basra-Aqaba pipeline."

He continued, "The Iraqi answer was to welcome a visit to Iraq by Jordanian ministers, to complete the search for the economic civil file."

Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi announced, on Thursday, that the electrical connection with Jordan will enter work during next June.  

  

 

  

Al-Kazemi said in a blog post, via “Twitter” followed by “Nas” (October 6, 2022), we have worked on a comprehensive strategy, and have achieved several projects in the field of electricity, and the linkage line with Jordan will enter service next June, and after that the link line with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf ".    

  

He added, "We are continuing to work for greater investment in alternative energy and the extraction of associated gas in order to stabilize electric power in Iraq."

Jordan details the electrical interconnection project with Iraq: towards greater energy exchange between the two countries

The Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources confirmed, on Friday, its aspiration to complete the electrical interconnection project with Iraq, as it is the most important purposeful project.  

 

  

Energy Minister Saleh al-Kharabsheh said in an interview with the Jordanian newspaper "Al-Ghad" and followed by "Nass" (October 7, 2022): "The project aims, in its first phase, to provide the brotherly Iraqi side of Jordan with an electric capacity of 150 megawatts." He expressed his hope that "this stage will be a step towards strengthening the electrical interconnection system between the two countries and developing the internal networks, allowing the opportunity to exchange energy between the two parties in larger quantities, which will contribute to strengthening the electrical systems in the two countries and raising the availability and reliability of supply."  

  

"Jordan is looking forward to the electrical interconnection project with Iraq as one of our most important projects aimed at strengthening the electrical interconnection system, as this project will increase Jordan's electrical connection points with neighboring countries and create more opportunities for indirect linkage in the future with many countries of the Arab region," the minister stressed.  

  

He added that Iraq, "like Jordan, is seeking to connect with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the electrical interconnection system for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and we are currently working with the Egyptian side to promote the Jordanian-Egyptian electrical interconnection project to double the electrical energy exchange capabilities, as well as the case with the State of Palestine."  

  

Al-Kharabsheh stressed that "these projects together will contribute significantly to raising the level of electrical energy exchange operations between the countries of the region and creating an integrated and competitive electricity market, which will improve the economies of electrical systems and interconnection projects, and will contribute significantly to achieving technical support for interconnected electrical networks, and enhances opportunities for Establishing joint projects in the fields of new and renewable energy between our countries.  

  

Al-Kharabsheh expressed, "Jordan's aspiration for more cooperation and achievements that contribute to achieving integration between Jordan and Iraq, and that the oil pipeline project will be launched soon, which will extend from the Iraqi city of Basra to the Jordanian city of Aqaba, to represent another model of energy integration between our two countries, and create a new point for the brothers in the Iraq to export crude oil and enhance Jordan's role as a regional center for the exchange of energy of all kinds.  

  

He added that "the Jordanian-Iraqi electrical interconnection project (the first phase) of the Al-Rishah substation project 400/132/33 kV, which consists of an overhead transmission line connecting the Al-Rishah transfer station (the Jordanian side) with the Al-Qaim transfer station (the Iraqi side) and the addition of transformers. On the Jordanian side, adding transformers on the Iraqi side, and through this line, the loads of the western region of Iraq (Al-Qaim region) are fed isolated from the Iraqi electrical network.-(Petra).

{Political: Al-Furat News} Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi announced, today, Thursday, that the electrical interconnection line with Jordan will enter service next June.

Al-Kazemi said in a tweet on his Twitter account, which was followed by {Euphrates News}: "We worked on a comprehensive strategy and achieved several projects in the field of electricity, and the linkage line with Jordan will enter service next June, and after that the link line with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf."

Al-Kazemi added: "We are continuing to work for greater investment in alternative energy and the extraction of associated gas, for the sake of stabilizing electrical energy in Iraq."
