Shabibilicious
Donald Trump could be back on Facebook in time for the presidential primaries Karissa Bell ·Senior Editor Fri, June 4, 2021, 12:42 PM·1 min read Facebook has revisited Donald Trump's "indefinite" suspension following a recommendation from the Oversight Board. The company said that Trump's suspension should last two years, which would potentially allow him to return to the social network in time to run for president again in 2024. "Given the gravity of the circumstances that led to Mr. Trump’s suspension, we believe his actions constituted a severe violation of our rules which merit the highest penalty available under the new enforcement protocols," Facebook's VP of Global Affairs Nick Clegg wrote in a blog post. "We are suspending his accounts for two years, effective from the date of the initial suspension on January 7 this year." After the two year period is up, Clegg said Facebook would "evaluate" the "risk to public safety" to determine if the suspension should be extended or lifted. He added that additional scrutiny would be applied to Trump’s account when it is restored, and that he could still be permanently banned from the platform for future behavior. “When the suspension is eventually lifted, there will be a strict set of rapidly escalating sanctions that will be triggered if Mr. Trump commits further violations in future, up to and including permanent removal of his pages and accounts,” he wrote. Last month, the Oversight Board said that Facebook was justified in suspending Trump, but that by imposing an “indefinite” suspension the company was failing to follow its own rules. The board also accused Facebook of trying to “avoid its responsibilities.” Now, Facebook says it will have a new set of “heightened penalties for public figures during times of civil unrest and ongoing violence.” Facebook is also publishing new details about its "strike system" and "newsworthiness" policies in response to Oversight Boards recommendations. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/donald-trump-could-be-back-on-facebook-in-time-for-primaries-164200140.html GO RV, then BV

Shabibilicious
Trump Calls Facebook's 2-Year Ban Of Him 'Abuse' Trump Calls Facebook's 2-Year Ban Of Him 'Abuse' Sebastian Murdock ·Senior Reporter, HuffPost Fri, June 4, 2021, 1:30 PM Former President Donald Trump lashed out Friday after Facebook announced that it will continue to ban him from its platforms for the next two years. Trump was booted from Facebook following “his praise for people engaged in violence at the Capitol on January 6,” Facebook said in a statement Friday. Five people died in the violence at the Capitol, and more than 140 U.S. Capitol Police officers were injured. Trump was also banned from Twitter following the attack. “Facebook’s ruling is an insult to the record-setting 75m people, plus many others, who voted for us in the 2020 Rigged Presidential Election,” Trump said in a statement Friday. “They shouldn’t be allowed to get away with this censoring and silencing, and ultimately, we will win. Our Country can’t take this abuse anymore!” Though a Facebook oversight committee initially banned the former president indefinitely, Friday’s decision to suspend him for just two years could see Trump’s return to the social media platform just in time for the 2024 presidential election. However, Facebook said Trump’s possible return is conditional. “At the end of this period, we will look to experts to assess whether the risk to public safety has receded,” Nick Clegg, Facebook’s vice president of global affairs, said in a statement. “We will evaluate external factors, including instances of violence, restrictions on peaceful assembly and other markers of civil unrest. If we determine that there is still a serious risk to public safety, we will extend the restriction for a set period of time and continue to re-evaluate until that risk has receded.” Should Trump commit “further violations” in the future, his accounts and pages could be permanently removed, according to Clegg. https://www.yahoo.com/huffpost/trump-facebook-two-year-ban-response-173031726.html GO RV, then BV

GO RV, then BV Oh Shabs, when the corporate world threatens your complete freedom of speech. I would think that should be a big concern. Mom and Pop were covering their bases in protecting the public from any injuries on their property. It wasn't suppression, you presented two completely different examples, if that's what you're insinuating. 1
