Russia Bans George Soros Charities as ‘Security Threat’

November 30, 2015 9:01 am

Open Society groups placed on ‘stop list’

(RT) – The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has recognized George Soros’s Open Society Institute and another affiliated organization as undesirable groups, banning Russian citizens and organizations from participation in any of their projects.

In a statement released on Monday, prosecutors said the activities of the Open Society Institute and the Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation were a threat to the foundations of Russia’s Constitutional order and national security. They added that the Justice Ministry would be duly informed about these conclusions and would add the two groups to Russia’s list of undesirable foreign organizations.

Prosecutors launched a probe into the activities of the two organizations – both sponsored by the well-known US financier George Soros – in July this year, after Russian senators approved the so-called “patriotic stop-list” of 12 groups that required immediate attention over their supposed anti-Russian activities. Other groups on the list included the National Endowment for Democracy; the International Republican Institute; the National Democratic Institute; the MacArthur Foundation and Freedom House.

In late July, the Russian Justice Ministry recognized the US National Endowment for Democracy as an undesirable group after prosecutors discovered the US NGO had spent millions on attempts to question the legitimacy of Russian elections and tarnish the prestige of national military service.

The Law on Undesirable Foreign Organizations came into force in early June this year. It requires the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Foreign Ministry to draw up an official list of undesirable foreign organizations and outlaw their activities. Once a group is recognized as undesirable, its assets in Russia must be frozen, its offices closed and the distribution of any of its materials must be banned.

If the ban is violated, the personnel of the outlawed group and any Russian citizens who cooperate with them could face heavy fines, or even prison terms in the case of repeated or aggravated offences.

The Soros Foundation started working in Russia in the mid-1990s, but wrapped up its active operations in 2003.

Yeow-Zaaaaaah...!  Good for Vlad !  Way to eradicate ya some vermin there, fellas !

At least they have a nose for some pretty rotten political orgs masquerading as righteous entities.

We've got enough trouble right here at home... if these were viable problem-solving, honest groups, they'd

be takin' care of business here. <_<

Guess the Ruskies figured out - by one look at our political situation here at home,

that these 'foundations' are ridiculous !

And freezing 'gorge' soros' money...?  PRICELESS :P

The last time an American of stature had any positive effect on that country was when

Armand Hammer dipped his big toe over there.

..." the enemy of mine enemy is my friend "....

soros is a greater immediate threat to The US than Putin.

Hell, hobummer's cabal (of which soros is a major player ) is a far greater imminent threat

to US than the entire Russian Complex.

Is that right?  Let's think about that for a moment.  If you were a Russian citizen, or even just a foreign citizen living and or working in Russia and spouted the same type anti-government rhetoric that you do here......Poof!!!  Where'd she go?

GO RV, then BV

Not our problem.  If they want that kinda life in their country, that's on them.

What we're all about is them doing the planet a favour and cutting down one of our enemies for US !

Look at it this way:

Putin is the creepy neighbor on the block...

high fence, keeps his woman and children virtually captive in there,

walks around the neighborhood rattling a sabre and bein' a bully....a 'Condo Nazi' if you will...

US neighbors don't like this guy... but a very dangerous criminal invades our home,

then jumps the fence into his yard,

and gets a hammer (and sickle!) to the head !

Today, we're not so creeped out by the nutty neighbor !   :tiphat:

Sgt., Shabs, Dog and Peace. Everyone does agree that it is sad and awkward that we find ourselves agreeing with the Russian President more so than agreeing with the American President. It's awkward that the Russian President had his military Bomb the c**d (betcha thought I was gonna type c**p huh? ) outa ISIS Comand and Controll Center in Raqqa Syria and means of black market income just 2-3 weeks into their self injection in the war against radical Islam and ISIS. It's ark ward to hear on CNN Obama's own saying that our President made the hard decision not to bomb ISIS Comand Center, the captured oil fields, inorder to find a environmentally safe way to do so first. Agreed.
