NEODinar, there are quite a few readers who, though silent, agree with you. Standing up on behalf of facts and knowledge does NOT make one liberal, a democrat, soft on communism, afraid of Muslims, etc. If it did, then all schools and universities should be destroyed as a waste of time and money. Because, their existence is to turn the human mind towards truth, no matter how much one can retain.

And if one professes Christianity or any other religious belief, then one must be able to not simply defend it with pablum teachings but with facts regarding its historical EFFECT. For the only purpose of religion is to change human society in "positive", progressive ways. That's a religion's proof. And Christians must learn that bigotry eats away at Christianity's foundation, like insects attacking a tree's roots. Because, no where can such attitudes be found in Jesus' teachings.

Now I am emotional. So I'll stop, while still hoping that the abuses of the Catholic Church and centuries of Christian ignorance and bigotry, generally speaking, have not doomed this once promised "light of the world" in the eyes of God. May God grant sincere Christians His compassion, because we are at least trying...trying.

In another thread you claimed no atheistic Communist regime such as stalin, pol pot... Etc committed genocide in the name of atheism, but here you say christians rape children in the name of christianity... Lol... Where is your evidence of that? Even if a christian were to rape a child in the name of Christianity it does not make them a Christian. Any rational thinking Christian knows that the rape of children is not condoned by Christianity. Not only is it a grave sin, But it is diametrically opposed to the spirit and teachings of Jesus Christ, but any rational person acquainted with the bible would know that.

children. Priests who rape children belong in prison, period! There have been abuses with in the church by people protecting pedophile priests in the past. Those

abuses are being addressed and that behavior is not acceptable in the Catholic Church today, but no where in Catholic teaching is the rape of children condoned, and to suggest such is a lie. Today priests rightfully so who are convicted of child rape are relieved of their ministry and Defrocked. Today there are very stringent safeguards in place in the psychological screening process of potential priests before they are ordained to the priesthood. To say the Catholic Church condones pedophilia is no different than for instance say that because a fireman is caught with child porn that the fire department condones child pornography.

One of the things I find intriguing about progressives today and their defense of Islam is that progressives defend all the typical feminist causes such as the so called right for a mother to murder her own children, g a y marriage, birth control... Etc. they despise Christianity, but support islam who's goal is a world wide caliphate under shariah law where woman will become oppressed second class citizens without any rights, and where gays are stoned to death. Why the schizophrenic death wish of all you hold as fundamental rights as progressives by defending an ideology that would destroy the things you consider to be fundamental rights?
