  1. 4.75?? I'm so dissapointed I thought Gankins and Athena had it down at 7.18 or was 6.18 either way 4.75 is just waaaay too low Possum!!
  2. ahhh unicorns.. rainbows.... this post is bout to blow
  3. Almost everytime I asked someone of Iraqi decent its a person working in a bank, a laborer or a terp, its all the same negative remove 3 zeros lop talk...Even my turkish coworker who knows Iraq has an extremely negative view of the whole thing. I mean no optimism.... They just spit out what they read in their papers which a lot of those lop articles we have access to online. What they don't know is the detail oriented info and analysis that scooter provides. When I share this, they don't have an answer. They don't know. Granted we don't know for a fact that it will RV either, just that there is a lot of positives about Iraq but I'm not going to go through a big long list of why I don't think it will LOP or why I believe this is a long term investment but I acknowledge the current situation fits a LOP scenario. I just don't think they will turn left down that path; choosing instead to keep moving in the same direction as they have always done. Russianhuey don't get yourself in trouble trying to get a better translation. None of us on these boards is worth taking any risk but at the same time, I really do appreciate you sharing even if its not what we want Stay safe and eat well.
  4. people be careful where u place your belief.... But it would be nice for once if one of these yaking gurus was finally right....ofcourse I don't belive it's draino
  5. Nice way to put it all together Scooter. Let's hope this ride is over soon but if not, I'll continue to enjoy reading your analysis. Thank you very much for sharing.
  6. they should put that in their hooka and see if it changes their outlook on life
  7. Thank you Vizio Yeah this is a positive article. Good find sir! The UN is prodding Iraq to make the necessary changes that imo affects investors confidence in this nation and I believe thats the 2nd or 3rd of recent that Czech republic has shown up in our news section with dealings with Iraq. I like it. I hope that continues it benefits the good people in the Czech republic. I feel they are some of warmest and most genuine people I have ever met. Sta Ima!
  8. The problem isn't just Maliki its a lot of other people over there trying their hardest to get over by exploiting current conditions. I can only assume the reason why we backed Maliki is because he is a lesser evil than the other choices to lead this country even though by western standards Maliki has done an exceedingly poor job but at the same time the whole country would rather cry complain quarrel and steal from each other rather than make the necessary sacrifices to provide a better tomorrow. I think the effects of Sadam still continue with these leaders...and their country based on their behavior which is where we are at now... Its sad that we believe more in Iraq then they themselves...We would have been better off planting our flag (/sarcasm)
  9. Just because they are accepted in the WTO does not mean they will RV.... Wouldnt that be nice if that was the defining thing or if we just had one defining thing on this investment? I like how Med is throwing this out there...trade able currency http://www.investorwords.com/6780/currency_trading.html Ok, lets look at some of these countries that are members of WTO... http://www.wto.org/english/thewto_e/whatis_e/tif_e/org6_e.htm eeehhh...they let anyone join! I wonder what some of those exchange rates look like? Hmmm how about Zimbabwe? ohh... look Zimbabwe currency is no longer working and they are still a member of the WTO? http://www.xe.com/currency/zwd-zimbabwean-dollar Life always stinks a little when I start scratching for info...hahahaha I think Iraq will fit right in at the WTO.... Yeah well, I'm waiting for some heart breaking dates to roll on by before everyone starts to accept the fact that appreciation which will come with the development of the private sector and the reconstruction of iraq and a fat 64 inch oil line they are working on down south (basraaaa) to become active will be how we will see the exchange rate rise!!...Oh and them getting their M2 together and fixing a bunch of broke stuff in their government... but yeah i don't see an overnight ughh flick of the switch RV~~ well I'm at least I'm not going to count on it...(RV = shock to Iraqi economy <confusion> - no security for the country<mucho mucho la muerte>, plus they can't do it with the current monetary policy in place)
  10. Very good point Doc. For me this is an issue of trust and the culture Sadam helped develop over generations of Iraqi's. If you show them your back (trust) they may put a knife in you. Also because everyone is so poor they can be easily manipulated by other outside forces (Iran). Look what Maliki did to those Iranian refugees at Camp Ashraf. Appeasing Iran? We expect Iraq to behave in a way they are truly ignorant of and like other muslim nations, they don't enjoy being told how to run their affairs. A lot of the players in Iraq want to be like sadam only understanding to pull each other down like crabs.
  11. Sadr is not that smart, in fact I think he's pretty sloppy and he is taking his direction from Iran obviously. My prediction or at least I hope, at some point Muqtada will grow frustrated, over step his ground and Maliki will deal with him. It's already happened once before. Consider that maliki has a political tight rope to walk with this and I'm not saying that I feel sorry for him either... Push will come to shove on this one...
  12. Bravo Bond Lady! I've often wondered about the WTO and it's significance to what we are watching. I hope it has a direct impact on an RV. Thanks for sharing.
  13. BL no need to apologize about grammar or spelling for crying out loud its a CHAT! If people want their info delivered nice neat and tidy then they should pick up time magazine or wait for the morning paper. There's always a friggin' spell check nazi lurking waiting for his opportunity to pounce! Be careful though, if you focus on how you write too much people may complain that they don't understand you as in you've exceeded their level of reading comprehension. I remember some of scooter's posts over a year ago were like that! BL I have a question though, is there any documentation on what Iraq has in that DF fund? I know you said 800-to a trillion? I remember reading an article where they stated that estimates were that they lost over $400 billion in oil rev over the last 8 years but I don't remember reading anything in the article alluding to what they were able to keep. Thank you for sharing
  14. you have a 7 year plus problem and now everyone expects for it to be fixed over night. not happening.... i see this 100 day deal as a way for maliki to get rid of people he doesn't want there anyway.
  15. Adam, Forgive me if you have already addressed this. What's your take on the current trend of the currency auctions? Does this trend have anything to do with Ali closing or is it coincidence? I appreciate all that you do!
  16. At DV we need our leaders but its okay if they don't post something everyday. Sometimes there's nothing to say because there is no further developments. I can accept that. The daily grind of rumors that had been coming from other sites predicting an RV daily......I'm glad to see that's slowed down. A lot of people who don't know better can make the wrong decision and hurt themselves. GO RV @ $7.23!!
  17. The dollar had gas...yeah that's what it was
  18. Maybe the real issue is, is that we shouldn't be trying to constantly hold people's feet to the fire when things don't go according to plan....Well, at least the people who matter to DV. I can only imagine what Sonny felt in putting his info out there at times. I would feel some pressure, that's for sure. Maybe this is why he left? Yes I am partial to our leaders here on DV (notice i didnt call them gurus) and occasionally I take shots here and there at gurus from other sites but I like our DV guys. I hope one day Sonny can come back. I may not have always agreed with everything he ever said but I still appreciated it because I could see how much he meant to everyone else and for all that we rave up and down about doing your own research, its very helpful to have someone who earned his leadership position at this site to share his or her perspective every so often even if some of us disagree with it (respectfully of course). In my opinion Sonny was never over the top like the usual suspects and one time I remember he apologized. I really respect him for that. That's stand up. To the person who started the thread, I hope you find what your looking for and if you do, please share.
  19. Yeah but then we wouldn't have anything to make fun of or bash while we are waiting for real news or more serious analysis to come along. Feel free to be entertained
  20. OH MY GAWD XE info on the DINAR STILL LIVES!!! Yes Aok, this has been around for awhile and this subject of re-denomination has been a topic of hot contention at times around these forums. Good luck
