The currency was devalued by order of the UN to the IMF upon the US setting foot on the grounds in Iraq. No Saddam had nothing to do with the value of the current currency dropping. This IMF protection was put in place right after the First World War. Why you ask because many of the governments involved the First World War realized that millions of dollars of currency had gone missing and each country struggled to even feed them selves. Thus that is why when one country evades another country the country being invaded currency is devalued. Okay hopefully you are still following as for the Saddam currency the Saddam currency was devalued also by the IMF directly upon Saddam invading Kuwait. After he was chased back home huge sanctions were placed on Iraq Including...... Ready for it LEAVING the currency not tradable internationally. It has not been allowed to be international traded since the first gulf war. Oh and I was carrying my first child when we hit the ground in Kuwait where were you?
