  1. Hello Adam. I do try to stay positive and hope for Iraq to RV their currency at 10 cents or higher. I feel it is important to weigh all possibilites. This is the reason for my question. If there is a LOP do you think we will have trouble getting rid of the dinar we have? Will there always be places that will buy it back at the current exchange rate? Can you tell me where these places would be? Would it airports and some banks that would exchange our dinars back to US dollars if the dreaded LOP happened? Do you see it a possibility that neither of these places would buy it back- or exchange it back to dollars? It is hard not to think of these questions when we have been hearing RV ANYTIME- every day for sooo long. Thanks Adam
  2. Thanks Adam for showing you appreciate the reason for the season of CHRISTmas. I just hate when people X out Christ with x- mas ! SO DISRESPECTFUL
  3. Obama said our relationship with Iraq is based on Iraq's sovereinty and mutual respect.
  4. You are in my thoughts and prayers Patty. Congratulations on the new baby- will it be here before Christmas? Congrats also for being in the NED status- no evidence of disease. Five year marks a point where you will be very unlikely to have a recurrence. You are so close ... yet apprehensive about letting go of the fear of the cancer returning. Many people do not realize the depression caused from the worry from cancer and life after cancer. I pray that God will give you the strength to move past the cancer diagnosis and "look forward to living" again, the peace of mind to celebrate you being cancer free, and the faith to know that the Lord will be with you no matter what.
  5. thanks luckyone for checking it over... you are right paj1985 .... I figured I'd forget a zero somewhere in there tonight- not surprised. My point in breaking this down is to show how some people mix up the # of dinar equal to 1 USD(1170) ....and the value (.00086) of each dinar compared to our dollar .
  6. Okay just trying to make sense of what has been said here by others. Let's give this a try.... right now 1 USD = 1170 IQD exchange rate .00086 to get exchange rate divide $1.00 by 1170 at this rate 1,000,000 dinar is now approx. $860 - 1,000,000 X .00086 or ... 1,000,000 divided by 1170 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If rate was 10 cents 1 USD = 10 IQD exchange rate .10 $1.00 USD divided by 10 =s exchange rate at this rate 1,000,000 dinar would be $100,000 - 1,000,000 X .10 or... 1,000,000 divided by 10 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If exchange rate is 86 cents 1 USD = 1.1628 IQD approx. exchange rate .86 $1.00 USD divided by 1.1628 =s exchange rate at this rate 1,000,000 dinars would be approx. $86,000 - 1,000,000 X .86 or 1,000,000 divided by 1.1628 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ the rate given by the bank .00365237 1 USD = 273.5 IQD approx. exchange rate .00365237 exchange rate $1.00 divided by 273.5 1,000,000 dinars would be $3,652 I think many people get confused by the exchange rate and the number of dinars equal to 1 USD when figuring sometimes. I have even seen several of the gurus misinterrupt these numbers. Will banks show the rate of what each dinar is worth(now .00086) or how many dinars are equal to 1 USD....now 1170? Feel free to correct me if I am wrong on any of my figures .... my little one had four shots today and is still up - so "exhausted" is an understatement.
  7. I am anxious to see how this thread reads out as well. This has definitely been an interesting read. I am also ready to hear some predictions on a rate based off the theories on here.
  8. I heard new guru......... I think his name is Kojak is really Glenn Beck !!!! jk jk jk
  9. The past day or two the website keeps going back and forth from working to being under maintenance.

  11. Here is the link for the UN Operational Rate of Exchange website. http://treasury.un.org/operationalrates/OperationalRates.aspx As of right now it is back up. Just checked it again, seconds later, and it says the website is down due to urgent maintenance. ???

  16. I am surprised to see that the website is still down. I hope when it comes back up we are all extremely surprised in a good way! There is a rumor that the US Treasury department is in lock down. Anyone have any information?
  17. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~This site is maintained only as a back-up site for the U.N. Operational Rates information distribution. The official site for the U.N. operational rate is http://treasury.un.org/. Please check the official website for more information. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This... http://www.un.org/depts/treasury/ is not the website. The official website is still down. You can read more on this topic if you search the forums for - UN Operational Rate of Exchange Website.
  18. I notice this letter is answering questions regarding a corporation or business. Treas. Reg. § 1.954-2(g)(4)(i) provides that a U.S. shareholder can elect to include in its computation of FPHCI the excess of foreign currency gains over losses or the excess of foreign currency losses over gains attributable to any section 988 transaction (except gains or losses treated as capital gain or loss under section 988(a)(i)(). Thus, the general rule of Treas. Reg. § 1.954-1©(1)(ii) that net foreign currency losses may not reduce income in any other category of FPHCI would not apply if the CFC has made this election because the regulations specifically provide that the excess of foreign currency losses over foreign currency gains may reduce other categories of FPHCI. Foreign currency gains can be treated as long or short term capital gains. Even this IRS letter mentions this..... (except gains or losses treated as capital gain or loss under section 988(a)(i)(). One thing is for sure.... the IRS will have to have more clear cut rules and regulations on the way the money is taxed if the RV happens.
  19. I go to this site at least once every day (usually several times a day) and have never known for it to be down for more than 2 - 4 hours. So I can say, yes this is unusual, which is the reason I brought the question to the forum.
  20. I noticed last night that the UN Operation Rate of Exchange website is down and I just checked and it is still down. Does anyone have any idea why and if this could mean anything?
