  1. thank you dumbnar...I hope everyone sees this tribute and remembers to thank a veteran for their service to this wonderful country....My dad was in WWII and my older brother was in Nam....I lost both of them 5 years ago only 12 days apart...both of them were the most patriotic men I have ever known. I am so proud to be called their daughter and sister, respectively. God Bless America!
  2. While I am always happy to hear positive information about Iraq and the imminent RV, I am not sure that this is a new sign of impending RV ..Please click on this link http://trade.gov/static/iraq_paymentsessay.pdf, when opened, scroll down to 8, Appendix A, C and E, it looks as though swift codes were in place from as far back as 2005. Not disputing anyone's post, just want to be sure that I am not looking at something different.

  4. IMF Executive Board Completes First Review Under Stand-By Arrangement with Iraq, Grants Waivers and Approves US$741 Million Disbursement Press Release No. 10/373 October 1, 2010 The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) today completed the first review of Iraq’s economic performance under a program supported by a 24-month Stand-By Arrangement (SBA). Completion of the first review makes an additional SDR 475.36 million (about US$ 741 million) available for disbursement, bringing the total resources that are currently available to Iraq under the arrangement to SDR 772.46 million (about US$ 1,204 billion). The Executive Board also approved a waiver for nonobservance for the end-June performance criterion on the net international reserves and a waiver of applicability for the end-June performance criterion on the central government current spending bill for which data is not yet available. A rephasing of the remaining disbursements was also approved by the Board. The SBA was approved on February 24, 2010 (see Press Release No. 10/60) for SDR 2.38 billion (about US$3.7 billion). In addition to providing temporary budget support, the SBA supported program aims to ensure macroeconomic stability and provide a framework for advancing structural reforms in Iraq. Following the Executive Board’s discussion on Iraq, Mr. Naoyuki Shinohara, Deputy Managing Director and Acting Chair, stated: “Iraq has continued to make good progress in rebuilding key economic institutions and maintaining macroeconomic stability, under very difficult circumstances. The Fund-supported program has provided a valuable anchor for economic policy during a period of high vulnerability. In the first half of 2010, oil revenues remained strong, inflation continued to be subdued, and the budget recorded a surplus. For 2010 as a whole and 2011, based on conservative assumptions for oil prices and export volumes, Iraq’s external and fiscal positions are expected to remain in deficit but return to a surplus in 2012. “The 2011 budget will need to be consistent with the goal of achieving medium-term fiscal sustainability and be based on conservative assumptions for oil prices and volumes. Containing current spending would allow further increases in investment, and a stronger emphasis on improving the quality of spending and rebuilding public infrastructure will help achieve higher economic growth. “Success in reconstructing the economy will depend on accelerating the pace of implementation of the government’s fiscal and financial sector structural reform agendas. The modernization of Iraq’s public financial management system encompasses further improvements in fiscal reporting and the budgetary process, and the adoption of a single treasury account. Further progress in strengthening the Central Bank of Iraq’s supervisory role and moving ahead with the financial and operational restructuring of the two largest state-owned banks will help in increasing financial intermediation. As a candidate member of the EITI, the Iraqi authorities intend to continue making progress in strengthening governance and transparency in the hydrocarbon sector. “The authorities have made commendable efforts to conclude debt agreements. Further progress in resolving outstanding claims under terms comparable to the 2004 Paris Club Agreement will be important.” IMF EXTERNAL RELATIONS DEPARTMENT Public Affairs Media Relations Phone: 202-623-7300 Phone: 202-623-7100 Fax: 202-623-6278 Fax: 202-623-6772

  7. I cannot help but chuckle reading these post. Clark Howard started out as a local "cheap" celebrity here in the Atlanta area. And yes, he is very cheap, admits to buying his clothes at Goodwill, thrift stores and yard/garage sales. Having said that, he is usually full of very good advice on money matters, i.e., the cheapest way to travel, nice hotels on the cheap, etc. He is however, also a very smart man when it comes to structuring mortgages, bank loans, finding the best bank for checking/savings account and does a good job of interpreting "legalese" on some documents that his followers have called in on to ask about. He is very much a consumer's advocate and has done a lot of good things with his advice. However, having said all that, I personally think he his way off the mark on dinar investment and its' potential. He has be wrong in the past about some things, and has gone on the air and admitted so. Not many times, but the few times he was wrong, he was big enough to put it out there that he was. So keep in mind that when Howard says the negative things about dinar, just know that the day will come (soon, we all pray) that he will once again have to go on the air and admit, "I was wrong".
  8. Okay, I understand frustration because of delays, and the anticipation we all as investors are feeling. And I understand that we as a group, are frustrated with the whole election process delays and the games M has been playing, etc. However I do take exception to the low, nasty name calling exhibited in this post. I personally do not feel it necessary to talk like that about people you don't really know. I realize this post came from another site and is certainly not indictive of the caliber of people on this site. In reading this post I did not find any new information or anything that was helpful in understanding any of the things going on in Iraq. I do appreciate the time people take to go to other sites and bring chats back here for others to peruse, but perhaps we should really read what we are about to bring here and maybe do some self-editing on what is really info and is really useful, and not a ugly rant that has no merit Not trying to bash bmar, but just trying to convey what I feel is important to the integrity of this site and the people who are members here.

  10. Okay, now you are just annoying and boring.....if that is the best you can do, then just go away and do whatever it is you proclaim to be...first though, don't forget to take the stuffing out of your training bra and put your big girl panties on....maybe then we adults will allow you to sit at the grownups table.
  11. drox......wonderfully and beautifully put....thank you
  12. thanks Ron for the post. Seems to be in line with what groovegal is saying also. I have followed her when I could for over a year now, and she has always been accurate in her anaylsis of the the dinar and the progress in Iraq. I believe she either works for the Federal Reserve or the U.S. Treasury, and has IMO been very astute. I would not call her another "guru", but someone that maybe we as a group should, whenever we can pay attention to whatever she is saying.
  13. For those questioning the date and time of Pbeach's post, please note the post was for yesterday's date when Iraq banks were open....also if her son talked to friends in Iraq at night, when they conveyed the info, would it not stand to reason they had worked their shift already and the evening/nighttime is the only time they have opportunity to talk with friends/family? I for one appreciate the post and anything positive that is coming out of Iraq on a first-hand basis. Thank you Pbeach, and please continue with anything you may be fortunate to hear and for sharing with us.
  14. this chat had more crediability than anything else I have seen coming from other sites....kaparoni included verifiable links and as someone else said, some IMO's. It certainly is IMO better than the "bank", "treasury" "good bro" contacts' info that is inevitably always wrong. I'll take kaparoni and his opinion and his links over the "gurus" any day of the week. Thanks for posting this chat.

  20. Deputy Governor of Central Bank denies the existence of a formal decision to delete the zeros Economic seminar chaired by the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank in Karbala in which he denies the existence of a formal decision to delete the zeros Held on Saturday morning, an economic seminar at the University of Karbala led by the deputy governor of Central Bank of Iraq has denied the existence of a formal decision about deleting three zeros from the Iraqi currency has also picked up some in the media, as one economist said that inflation in the Iraqi budget prevents the phase transition qualified bank to support its currency and raise the value in the global market. He (Ahmad Bureihi) on Saturday during the symposium "to" Central Bank of Iraq has so far not issued any formal decision to delete the three zeroes of the Iraqi currency traded in the markets, he did not start until the law on the deletion of zeros, "adding that" such a decision is a matter of administrative regard to administrative and political process in the country in order to achieve a clear monetary policy, noting that this would require a study of contracts and contracting processes that are still not completed its consequent processes of paying money to the companies that started its work since the contracts were signed according to some of them on the basis of currency Iraq as he put it." "What has appeared in some media about the intention of the Iraqi Central Bank to delete the three zeroes of the Iraqi currency news unfounded." While Bush's Professor of Economics at the University of Karbala, Dr. (Abbas Kazim) Iraq is not possible to issue a new currency has the ability to compete with regional currencies, because of inflation suffered by the Iraqi budget, adding that the decision to delete Alasfagr risk at this stage may lead to trouble," as he put it. http://non14.net/display.php?id=8014
  21. From a personal standpoint, my plan is to give to the Alzheimer's Foundation (I lost my mom to this terrible disease) and to the Cerebal Palsy Foundation....I do not care about the tax deduction ramifications, only want to help two organizations that have played a very big part in our lives. I could never give enough to truly warrant the gratitude I have for these two orginazations.
