  1. Thanks for the article. Very nicely done. As you say, a puzzle coming together. One question. Any thoughts on how Warka fits in to the picture. They've worked with Citibank in the past. Are you seeing any articles bringing them closer?
  2. Come on Adam, Just wait until our Kazillions come in.. Dennis
  3. For those with a savings account at Warka Bank, our semi-annual interest payment was posted today. Dennis
  4. Its been awhile but I thought I read that a limit of a certain amount of funds could be legal taken out across the border. Perhaps someone who has been working there can help? D
  5. 4AProfit. I haven't asked Warka yet, but what do you think about opening a Euro account there, in addition to the USD?
  6. I'm curious how to reconcile the above articles with the appreciation of the Dinar against the USD since its introduction in 2004. The Dinar appreciated from a value of 4,000 per USD to now 1166. Isn't this increase of value greater that the 50% that the author stated?
  7. Was this from yesterday? After all its the weekend now. Not sure the parliament is in working...
  8. very nice!.... you have to like that 7% interest.. Now if we can only get the money out when we need it (think debit card working...wires sending)
  9. Thats correct.. last of dec.. last of june..... always a nice christmas present!!
  10. As a side note, has anyone been able to use their debit card? I got mine last year but unable to use with the system down. Thanks d
  11. Thanks for the posts, Luigi. My guess is that its gotten quiet out there, first because of pilgrimages taking away so many members of parliament and then the observance of Eid al-Adha. Several members have posted about negotiations going on in private. Your guys will probaby start picking up stuff again after the 20th or so. Again thanks for the posts.. Dennis
  12. The IQD has already increased in value from 4000 to 1170 in just 7 years. What has Chase done? Perhaps she doesn't have the big picture?

  17. Frank, Thanks for the info! One more question if you don't mind. The interest paid on our accounts. How often is the interest credited? Quarterly? Also any advise for using the isx would be appreciated. Thanks.. Dennis
  18. Morning DOD. I'm one of those that still likes the idea of having the dinars in a Warka savings account at 7%. I in the process of working on the ISX and MasterCard. Can you tell me how long it takes to actually get the MasterCard from the time you start the application process? For me, Ms Sawsan got my application just before the holiday. Thanks for any help. Semper Fi Dennis
  19. Morning all... thanks for the above debate guys. Good thing I made the coffee extra thick today!! Gary, in your scenarios how would you account for the discussion of Iraq being able to monetizing its oil and natural gas products? And fractional banking of Iraq? Or the removal/forgiveness of Iraqi debt? HOw does these fit into your cases? Just a few question while I get some more coffee. Again good discussion on a sat morning, while everyone is waiting, waiting, waiting.. Regards, Dennis

  21. Good evening all, Thanks Mark, Had my first meeting with my investment firm and tax CPA. My CPA, like your posting, admitted that foreign currency projects wasn't his usual area but he would start the research. This CPA is one of those that is incredibly intelligent with the tax code and estate planning. He and his staff has saved us quite a bit of money because of his expertise. Anyway, his first thought was to check the short/long term gain dates for the purchase and the second was that no tax would be owed until a taxable event occurred. He reminded us that these thoughts were just initial ones. Once he and his staff was more familiar with this area of the tax code, he'd be able to come up with more concrete planning. The initial thought from the investment side is to offset the tax event by investing the proceeds into another investment that has a large write-off component, such as a natural gas or oil well limited partnership. As I mentioned this was our first meeting, these guys are really good and once up to speed sure to get more options. Mark, thanks again for all the info and help Semper Fi Dennis
  22. Evening RW, I had the same obstacle getting my client id and password for the online banking. I ended up emailing Mr. Issa (see below for contact info) for assistance. He was very helpful. He passed my information to the right department in order to get my id and password. Once you have these two items, the world gets a whole lot easier. On-line banking at Warka including account status, transferring funds, statements are very easy and in fact or more user friendly than some of our domestic banks (read Regions Bank). One thing you can do is get on the Warka Bank web site and pull down the contact us menu (on the right side of the screen). Listed there will be the various department's emails. For instance, to request a transfer funds from your USD account to your IQD account, you need to contact the c.service department. Of course, once you get your online client id and password, you can do a lot of this yourself, but you get the idea. Hope this helps. Dennis
  23. Good Man, Building my new Z-4 on their web site as we wait!
