Baghdad, May 24 (AKnews) – Ali al Shalah , a member of the State of Law Coalition (SLC) today accused the Iraqiya list of intentionally delaying the approval of a Minister of Security and a Minister of Defense.

Shalah criticized Iraqiya’s nomination of two more candidates for the Minister of Defense on Monday, which led to the newest delay.

“Iraqiya’s actions aim to further delay the appointment of theses Ministers, either by referring to the Law for Accountability and Justice or by nominating further candidates”, Shalah said.

The Law for Accountability and Justice says how to deal with people who were part of the former Baathist regime of Saddam Hussein.

Iraqiya submitted two new nominees for the Ministry of Defense on Sunday, Ghafel Nuri Ghafel al Dulaimi, and Majid Abed Nassif al Dulaimi.

The newest delay comes after Iraqiya leader Ayad Allawi and SLC head and Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki announced a new round of talks on Monday to end the ongoing dispute between them and to resolve the most urgent political issues: the distribution of state ministries between the political blocs; the revival of the National Council for Strategic Policies (NCSP) through a Parliamentary bill; the suspension of “Accountability and Justice” procedures; the prevention of arrests without court orders; nominations for the security ministers’ posts; cabinet procedures and a plan to review its current formation in parliament.

Several ministerial posts, including the leadership of the three key security ministries (National Security, Defense, Interior), were left unassigned when the new government was formed in December 2010 because of the lack of consensus between the political blocs over the candidates nominated to fill them.

Prime Minister Maliki continues to head the three ministries in a caretaking capacity.

The al-Iraqiya List meanwhile, has repeatedly accused Maliki, whose list only overcame Allawi’s by controversially forming a super-bloc, the National Coalition (NC), with the Sadrist Current following the elections, of not abiding to the terms of the Erbil agreement.

With the NCSP not yet formed, Iraqiya leaders have threatened to withdraw from the partnership government and accused Maliki of monopolizing power and failing to implement all terms of the deal.

Reinstate the Provisional Government and let these geniuses herd goats.

They have reached the peak of their ability and just are not up for the task of governance.

The Peter Principal lives. They have reached their level of incompetence.

Many had hoped the inverse of the Peter Principal would prevail and they would simply be promoted to a level where their incompetence was no longer noticed.

Unfortunately, they couldn't even get that right.

Maybe give them hammers and another hundred days and see if they can master the art of pounding sand.

Well put!

Ah, Don't be such a negative ninny. The Arabs are worried that one faction may have more power than the other, however they are, if anything, opportunists and know the value of their position in this world. If they truly are going to be a member of the WTO, you can be assured that they are working towards that end privately. Their ROLE in all this is going according to someones agenda, and that how they ROLL. (I was out of coffee this morning, sorry for being a bit cranky)

Well, you are absolutely correct in equating the problems to the Arab mindset.

However, a solution lies to the north.

Give Barzani more input and move the capital to Kurdistan.

A and M have no real concern for the governed.

The government is all about them...

Stop getting yourself in a knot. They'll be 5 articles during the course of they day that will tell us they're all best buddies and are heading over to Allawi's house for a barbeque.

Don't micro manage this investment or the articles coming out of Iraq. Keep focused on the big picture. We are very close to a completed GOI. Keep the faith all. She's a comin'!!!

Peace

To me, this doesn't appear to be anything new or earth-shattering, but rather a statement of the obvious...looks like it's criticizing past delays not necessarily commenting on the current situation (although I wouldn't be surprised if further delays ensue)

just my 23.54 IQD

OMG. That is a very good solution, but way too easy. It would never fly.
