Iraqi Parliament to witness voting on security ministers posts

5/5/2011 12:40 PM

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The Iraqi Parliament is scheduled to discuss the issue of voting on the candidates for the security cabinet posts, presented to the Parliament by Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, Parliament Speaker, Usama al-Nunjeify said on Thursday.

“The Prime Minister has presented the names of candidates for the security cabinet posts, whose CVs were distributed to the Parliament Members for discussion on Tuesday,” Nujeify told a joint news conference with his visiting Indonesian Counterpart, attended by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

Differences over the candidates for the security cabinet posts that remain vacant have taken place for about 4 months, especially the posts of Interior and Defense Ministers, the first being the share of the National Alliance, led by Prime Minister Maliki and the second by al-Iraqiya Bloc, led by former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi, with each side rejecting the candidate of the other.

The prevailing wisdom would quip "better pack a lunch"

I would caution them to hire a catering service that has a reputation for not leaving until the party is over.

For those holding their breath, consider getting scuba gear...

Another Maliki Marathon; all Maliki, all the time.

Moving at a carefully measured pace; progressively backwards...

The Iraqi list could not agree on the list presented by Maliki, and Maliki could not agree with the Allawi. They will look at it next week. And the week after. And the week after. <_<

To "discuss the issue of voting". Good gosh. That's somewhat like talking about getting something done.

Hey, it IS modeled after our (US) gov! A country is just a business. If I ran my business like this I would by

run over by competition in two weeks. Sigh. Go RV!
