Video clips spread on the "X" platform, in which US President Joe Biden appeared, while meeting with survivors of the fires that swept Maui, the second largest of the Hawaiian islands.

Biden appeared in the video sitting with his head bowed among a large group of people, while one of those present gave a speech in which he spoke about his loss of his family in the fire.

 

 

 

Biden was heavily criticized by activists, and one of them wrote in a post: "Biden is so bored that he fell asleep during a meeting with the victims after arriving 13 days late."

Another said: "Biden naps after two weeks off."

Another activist wrote: "It's been two weeks since the Maui fires started, and so far: Biden has taken two vacations, said 'no comment' when asked about the fires, compared the devastation to losing his Corvette 15 years ago, and now sleeps during a ceremony honoring the victims of the Maui fire."

Biden faces criticism that his government was slow to respond to the disaster, in addition to the anger of local residents over the official response, which was sluggish.



On Monday, Biden and his wife, Jill, arrived in Hawaii from Nevada, where they were on vacation, and toured the ruins of the destroyed Lahaina, accompanied by Hawaii Governor Josh Green and his wife.
