Shafaq News/ The oil expert, Hamza Al-Jawahiri, confirmed on Wednesday that the explosion of the pipeline that exports Iraqi oil through the Turkish port of Ceyhan does not significantly affect global oil prices.

Al-Jawahiri said in an interview with Shafaq News Agency, "The pipeline exports small quantities of about 620,000 barrels per day through Turkey to Europe and America, and therefore the explosion that occurred in it does not significantly affect global oil prices."

Al-Jawahiri added, "The pipeline can be repaired quickly because it is located within Turkish territory, and there are technical teams ready for the purpose of repair," noting that "repairing the pipeline will not take more than two days as a maximum, after which Iraqi oil will be exported through the pipeline."

A major pipeline transporting crude oil from Iraq to a Turkish port on the Mediterranean blew up on Tuesday evening, adding pressure on oil markets and pushing prices higher.

The Turkish state company Botas, which operates the (Kirkuk-Ceyhan) pipeline, said that the fire has been extinguished, cooling operations are currently underway, and it will reopen as soon as the necessary measures are taken.
