The Kurdish "Roonbeen" organization, which specializes in transparency issues in oil and gas files, has published data on oil exports from Iraq to the federal and regional governments and global destinations for sales and exports for both sides.  

  

 

  

The British-based organization stated on its website in a report translated by "NAS" (September 4, 2022) that Iraq exported more than 112 million and 600 thousand barrels of oil during the month of August through the SOMO Company and the Kurdistan Regional Government's oil sales.  

  

The organization stated that the Kurdistan Regional Government exported 11.5 million barrels per day in August, while Baghdad exported 101.1 million barrels per day, with a total of 3.63 million barrels per day. The region's exports constitute 10.2% of the total Iraqi oil exports.  

  

They added that China is the largest buyer of Iraqi federal oil with 33.6 million barrels, followed by India with 26.3 million barrels, and the United States with 6.8 million barrels.  

  

The organization also stated that Greece is the largest buyer of oil in the Kurdistan region, followed by Italy with 2.29 million barrels and the UAE with 748,000 barrels.

On Sunday, Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar Ismail announced the start of pumping crude oil to the Karbala oil refinery, marking the start of the trial operation of the refinery's production units.  

  

 

  

Abdul-Jabbar said, according to a statement issued by the ministry, a copy of which was received by “Nas” (September 25, 2022): “The refinery’s refining capacity is 140,000 barrels per day, which will contribute during the next few period to cover part of the local need and reduce import,” praising the “national effort.” And the coalition of Korean companies and all the parties that supported the project.”   

  

She added that "the start of pumping crude oil to the production units of the refinery is an important step to accelerate the production and refining operations of the refinery, which will provide millions of liters per day of oil products, and that the national effort in cooperation with the coalition of Korean companies has overcome the health and economic challenges that faced the project with determination, determination and cooperation, and today we are picking up the fruits of that."   

  

He pointed out that "during his visit to the refinery last month, he instructed to expedite the direct operations of operating the refinery to constitute an important turning point in the refining industry in Iraq."

The economic expert, Nabil Al-Marsoumi, explained details and information about the Karbala oil refinery, which started experimental work today, Sunday, pointing out that the refinery is environmentally friendly and produces many types of oil products.

Al-Marsoumi said in a Facebook post that “the site of the refinery is located 40 km from the center of the city of Karbala, and is linked to the lines of transporting petroleum products to the warehouses of Najaf and Karbala, with an area of 6 million square meters,” noting that “the date of the start of work on the construction of the refinery 2014, at a cost of 6.5 billion dollars. Through the Korean company Hyundai, and the refinery is supplied with oil from Basra through the strategic line.”

He added, "The refinery is the first with environmentally friendly Euro 5 specifications, and a refining capacity of 140,000 barrels per day," explaining that "the first phase of the refinery will produce 85,000 barrels per day, and its full capacity will be reached by 2023."

Regarding the refinery’s products, Al-Marsoumi stated that it includes “all kinds of gasoline (regular and improved), jet fuel, solid sulfur and cooking gas, and it will produce approximately 9 million liters / day of high-quality and premium octane gasoline, in addition to 3,180 cubic meters per day of white oil and jet fuel products. Each of them and about 6,360 cubic meters of diesel, knowing that 70% of the refinery’s products are light products.”

The expert pointed out that “the refinery is supplied with water from the Euphrates River by a river pump, and includes industrial water treatment units that treat and recycle all the water inside the refinery. Excess water is not discharged into the river except in emergency cases, and it contains four units that produce 200 megawatts of Electricity to cover his needs. finished/25h
