Saleh stresses reconciliation between Iran and the Arabs and getting Syria out of "chaos"

{Political: Al Furat News} The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, considered that the countries of the Middle East must learn from the past and work together for security and prosperity.

In an interview with CNN, Saleh commented on whether US President Joe Biden was right about returning to the Iran nuclear agreement, saying: "Iran is a major player in that part of the world, and for me, in Iraq, we have A long border with Iran, we have all kinds of interactions..cultural..social..common security interests..you name it..so this is clearly a matter of consequences for us, and it is a consequence of the broader region, and indeed the world.”

Saleh added: "There are no military solutions, and we need a diplomatic end to this impasse, and we need a security arrangement in the Middle East, where we meet to combat terrorism, which remains a major problem."

He pointed out that there must be a nuclear agreement with Iran, and that there should be some kind of reconciliation between Iran and the Arabs.

Barham Salih explained that "Iraq plays a very important role in time to mediate between the Saudis and the Iranians," adding: "There were a number of talks that took place in Baghdad between Iran and other Arab neighbors, and there are some important atmospheres that have improved."

And Saleh continued, "At the end of the day, we need to sit at the same table and talk about the problems that are caused by our voters..At the end of the day, yes America is important..yes the world is important, but also our own priority in our part of the world is important." .

While the presenter said: "But this is not where things are going now..what is happening is that Saudi Arabia is making a tacit alliance with Israel..the United States has effectively established an open alliance, and this is very similar to the strategy of containment of two warring camps." .

The Iraqi president commented, "I think this is again..if you go back to history, this is a recipe for repeating the terrible tragedies of the past..this part of the world cannot continue like this..we are fortunate to have oil, but we have very serious economic and social challenges." , we need infrastructure that can link our economies together.. we need joint action against climate change.. Iraq can't do it alone.. Saudi Arabia can't do it alone, Iran can't do it alone, and the Turks can't They should do it alone.. Ultimately, Syria must be brought back to the corner, and we must find a way to get Syria out of the chaos it has been in today for a long time."

And he added, "While we focus on the main headlines of the interstate rivalries, between the Iranians and the Saudis, between this and that, in the end there are really great challenges facing every country in that part of the world.. We don't want to go back to the past where we are part of one side." Against the other, we did it and paid a heavy price."

Between red and violet .. Why did Saudi Arabia change the color of the carpets for the reception of leaders?

Baghdad - people

Numerous photos have surfaced in English and Korean publications claiming to explain how Saudi Arabia treats world leaders "differently" by laying rugs of different colors upon their arrival.

The publications indicate that former US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin were more welcome than US President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, because they got red carpets, not purple.

That claim began circulating online after US President Joe Biden concluded a four-day trip to Israel and Saudi Arabia - his first trip to the Middle East since taking office.

This claim, however, is misleading. The kingdom changed the color of its festive carpet from red to purple in 2021.

The misleading posts relied on images of Trump and Putin that preceded the carpet policy change.

And the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia chose the purple color as the approved color for the carpets for the reception ceremonies of the official guests of the state, including presidents, ministers, ambassadors, and representatives of brotherly and friendly countries, in addition to the carpets used in various official occasions, according to the official news agency (SPA).

According to the agency, the "purple" carpet matches the color of the kingdom's deserts and plateaus in the spring when it is adorned with the color of the lavender flower, and other plants such as basil and basil, which collectively form a natural cover in a purple color, reflecting the Kingdom's welcome to its passers-by, and its generosity that is similar to the generosity of its people. Through the color of a giving nature, she lives at her finest.

Saudi Arabia has linked changing the color of carpets to the Kingdom’s vision for 2030, “in terms of continuous renewal, growing pride in the roots of history, identity and civilization, and celebrating the implications of culture that are embodied in the earth, man and time.”

The initiative to change the "reception ceremony carpets" came with a joint cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and the Royal Ceremonies, without there being any relationship at all between the color of the carpet and the extent of the celebration of the guest received by the Kingdom.
