The Commander of the US Army Central Command, General Kenneth McKenzie, confirmed that the Iraqi army’s situation is now good enough to fight the remaining ISIS militants, noting that the Iraqi security forces have made great strides towards that .

"The Iraqi army must be good enough to end ISIS. It needs to be qualified enough to achieve stability and security in Iraq ... According to my conviction, Iraq has made great strides towards this goal . "

He added that "ISIS militants still pose a threat to Iraq even after the collapse of the organization in Iraq and Syria, and the Iraqi army has more than 250,000 soldiers trained by the US-led international coalition as well as NATO, and they are sufficiently qualified to fight ISIS effectively . "

He added, "There is an important component of the Iraqi army, which is the anti-terrorist agency with which the American forces are working, in addition to assigning it to the rest of the main army."

He explained that "because of this progress, the United States was able to reduce a portion of its forces in Iraq that are present to support the Iraqi army," as the United States has approximately 5,200 soldiers deployed in Iraq as part of the international coalition force against ISIS .

He said McKenzie, said that " the continued presence of the US in Iraq is something that is required for the operations for the fight against terrorism , which is something that is supported by the Iraqi government " .

The commander of the Central Command indicated that he did not believe that the American forces would withdraw completely from Iraq , saying, "I do not know how many forces will remain, but there is no tendency on the Iraqi side for a hasty withdrawal of American forces, ISIS is still a threat, they do not want He did this because they know that we will continue to provide a good support to them in continuing their operations against the militant organization. There is work that is not yet complete and we are working to help implement it . "

Regarding targeting American forces, General MacKenzie said that he began noticing a recent increase in missile attacks against bases that include American forces in the country by armed factions loyal to Iran, including the Taji base, but he did not see any impact . He added, "We will not leave the region under pressure." Iranian . "

He added, "The reduction of the number of forces under discussion and an agreement will be reached through negotiations with the Iraqi government. We are in the process of restructuring the number of forces there. The size of the forces will shrink after it was huge. Iran wants to bring out the complete forces, and this will irritate them a lot ."

And he stated, "Whatever the number of troops will be, it will depend on the conditions in Iraq and what the Iraqi government requires of us." He added, "But I do not think that this number will be zero ."

According to the US military official, further details are expected to be negotiated at a later meeting scheduled for next July in Washington .

Earlier, spokesman for the International Alliance, Colonel Miles Caggins, stated that the missile attacks on the bases distracted the coalition forces from the mission entrusted to them, which was to pursue ISIS , stating that "these attacks constitute a real threat and we take them very seriously ."

According to the information of the international coalition, 21 attacks were counted during the year 2019 with indirect fire at the coalition’s bases, which included about 107 missiles, while during the year 2020 and until the end of last week, 26 rocket attacks occurred, 7 of them in the month of June .

Iraq revives Soviet, Chinese and British tanks

2020-06-23

Iraq decided to continue repairing the old armored vehicles. Besides samples purchased from the Soviet Union and the countries of the former Warsaw Pact, the spoils seized from neighboring Iran during the 1980-1988 war are revived.

It is reported that more than two dozen main battle tanks such as Civitan, which were manufactured in the United Kingdom in the second half of the 1970s, are to be "revived".
It is known that these 55-ton tanks participated in repelling the US aggression in 2003, but there are no data on any specific successes in the battles.

Due to the fact that the tanks are in very poor condition, the work is going very slowly - the lack of the required number of spare parts affects him.
In addition to the tanks themselves, the FV4204 ARRV armor made on the Chieftain chassis, which is used for towing vehicles, is also fixed.

Baghdad / Sky Press

Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi responded yesterday to what was raised about the cut of employee salaries. Al-Kazimi said during the meeting of the Higher Population Council, "There is no intention to implement deduction of employee salaries and what is said rumors."

"I wished that the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs was with us to reveal to us the extent of poverty in the country, so we need your standing at our side to carry out the reforms that the country needs."

Al-Kazemi added that our dependence on oil to supply the economy made the country idle and lazy, indicating that “the lack of investment cannot build the state

He pointed out that "corruption is the one that impedes the movement of investment, which needs a safe environment suitable for investment."

A number of deputies and experts have confirmed that the government will not be able to pay employee salaries for lack of imports and now it does not have any funds for salaries.

Bloomberg: "OPEC +" agreed on the right track

Gilgamesh Press / Follow-up
Bloomberg reported that the shares of OPEC + oil countries that were pumping more than allowed began to decline, and some of its countries began to provide details to other members on how to make additional cuts.
The agency said that Nigeria, Angola, Gabon and Brunei submitted plans to the OPEC Secretariat in Vienna this week, showing that their oil production would be reduced for each of them, and Iraq and Kazakhstan submitted their schedules for the cuts to the organization last week.
"Bloomberg" added: "OPEC +" committed to reduce its oil production by 9.7 million barrels per day, or about 10% of global oil production, until at least the end of July to compensate for the collapse of demand caused by the global outbreak of the Corona virus.
She continued: However, the implementation of the agreement was not complete, and during a meeting to monitor the agreement last week, the countries that did not fulfill their commitment to the agreement promised to compensate the shortage through additional reductions in the coming months, amounting to 1.26 million barrels per day between this week and September.
And "Bloomberg" indicated that Iraq, which usually lags behind in its commitment to the OPEC production cut agreements, and which has implemented only 46% of its obligations by 1.06 million barrels per day in May, will reduce its reductions slightly less than the total additional reductions by 573 thousand additional barrels over the course of The next three months (an additional 57,000 bpd in July, then 258,000 bpd additional in August and September), explaining that Nigeria had pledged to offset its excess production of 180,000 bpd in May by reducing an additional 45,000 bpd between June and September.
"Bloomberg" concluded: Despite the many obstacles that faced the agreement to reduce production, commitment to it was strong last month by 87%, and oil prices were boosted as a result of this and because of the recovery of oil demand in many countries, most notably China, and Brent prices increased more than twice Since late April to about $ 43 a barrel, although it is still low this year by about 35%.
Oil prices recorded yesterday (Tuesday) the highest level in nearly 4 months, to reach the highest price since the third of March 2020. Brent jumped 1.7% to $ 43.8, while West Texas crude jumped 1.8% to $ 41.48.
