Baghdad / Al-Sabah
Iraq announced the establishment of the National Authority for the Green Climate Fund during the international workshop attended by representatives of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
A statement received by Al-Sabah said that "the task of the PNA will be to approve the projects that will be presented to the International Fund for Green Environment from the Ministry of Environment and other ministries, the private sector and civil society organizations within the context of climate improvement and environmental conservation."
"The Green Climate Fund (GCF) is one of the most important international financing mechanisms for climate change projects. The fund is expected to reach 100 billion euros annually by 2020 to help developing countries mitigate and adapt to climate change," he said.
