The decision was also taken to approve the recommendation of the Committee for Economic Affairs on the approval of the recommendations of the Committee formed by the Council of Ministers Resolution No. (3) for the year 2017 and Diwani Decree No. 15 of 2017, with the previous review of all lists and information related to the goods and materials produced in the Republic of Iraq and the Kingdom. Iraqi PM Haider al-Abadi stated that he had a friendly and firm meeting with the Kurdistan Region delegation about the scheduled Independence Referendum.

The Kurdistan Region’s officials blame successive Iraqi government for non-adherence to the Constitution and state there are 55 articles that have been violated by Baghdad.

Abadi added that the dialogue with the Kurdistan Region delegation over the disputed issues was intense and frank, saying that the meeting reiterated continued cooperation and dialogue between Erbil and Baghdad.

The Kurdistan Region Presidency's spokesperson previously said that the federal government's non-adherence to the Iraqi Constitution had encouraged the Kurdistan Region to seek independence via a referendum, adding that the federal government had violated 55 Articles.

Roj Nuri Shawes, a member of the Kurdistan Referendum delegation, said at a press conference that there is no turning back from holding the independence referendum.

“We had a frank discussion with Baghdad… we informed them that referendum is the only solution to solve the long-standing problems,” Shawes said.

The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers denied on Thursday the issuance of any decision of the Federal Supreme Court, including the suspension of the work of the Council of Ministers Resolution No. (333) for the year 2015 on the suspension of the payment of pensions to officials.

In a statement received by Mawazine News, the Secretariat said that "it is an explanation of what was stated in the letter of the Iraqi Council of Representatives No. (2180) dated 24/7/2017 containing the request to suspend the work of the Council of Ministers Resolution No. 333 of 2015 As its decisions have the force of law and the existence of a decision of the Federal Supreme Court includes the cancellation of the decision of the Council of Ministers referred to above confirm that no decision of the Federal Supreme Court includes the suspension of the decision of the Council of Ministers referred to above.

In this regard, the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers would like to clarify the following:

This Secretariat confirms that no decision has been issued by the Federal Supreme Court which includes the suspension of the aforementioned decision of the Council of Ministers.

Any violation by the executive branch, if any, shall be subject to appeal before the Federal Supreme Court or other competent courts. Whereas, those covered by the decision of the Council discussed before have been challenged by the Staff Court and before the Pensioners Affairs Review Board. Another person opposed to the aforementioned resolutions has no support from the law.
