1944 18year old's vs. 18 year old's of today

The generation during & after WWII were a much more serious generation.

We grew up learning national pride, unity, integrity, faith, family, values, and respect.

We accepted authority from police/teachers,  virus challenging it. We respected our elders and learned from them, virus ignoring, taking advantage or looking over them. We respected our parents, virus thinking we know better. We learned "team", virus individualism. Our political leaders & Corporate Businesses did not disregard the public welfare, virus the greed of the shareholders. Courts believed in fair handed justice, virus weather or not the defendant has money or not. People who served our nation in war were hero's coming home, virus baby killers w/o conscience. Everyone believed in God, or at had the decency to not offend others who did. Etc, etc...........

Family values and the idea of a family being; a man & woman who love each other, and are committed to raising their children, and staying together has faded. The idea that one (Woman) can raise children w/o a father is insane. Can one person do the work of two? In very rare cases; yes but it can not become the norm!

In my opinion, America needs to REFOCUS on the mainstays of past generations! Family, marriage, national pride, corporate responsibility, political leaders who represent the people again, all based from a good foundation of religious belief (Whatever that religion should be!).

Hopefully, SHABS, there are still millions of Patriots raising fine, upstanding human beings with mettle,

courage, common sense, personal pride in a job-well-done, Faith and intelligence who

don't attend liberal indoktrination kolleges,

and aren't SO thin-skinned as to melt down over chalk messages on a sidewalk !

Back in the old days, kids ate chalk.....they didn't write with it, except to play hopscotch.

HopScotch !  Did you use a little rock or a little beanbag...?

Did you also have Marbles and Jacks..?

Strangle anyone with a tetherball rope..? Always fun, that !

Lawn Darts ---? !

Bows n' Arrows with REAL metal tips were fun, right..?

Or did your Old Man just give you a chainsaw when you were 2... and leave ya to yer own devices..?!

Now THOSE were character-building toys right there ! :twothumbs:

All classics and yes.  I did all of those except the chainsaw.  I was smart enough to know if I mastered the chainsaw, the old man would put me to work clearing the woods while he searched for snapping turtles and mushrooms.....and honestly, my paper route kept me plenty busy as a 7 year old.

GO RV, then BV

SNOWGLOBE ! LOL ! Vid of Lil' SHABS collectin' on his paper route !

PRICELESS !

UMBE -- one of us also grew up in another country...

for us it was sliding down grassy hills on flattened cardboard boxes.

playing with sticks, putting old roller skate wheels on wooden boards and racing them as go-carts,

climbing trees and stealing fruit and sugar cane, building tree forts and rope swings over shallow creeks,

stealing old, thrown out Christmas trees and makin' bonfires with 'em, frying ants on the hot pavement with

magnifying glasses, collecting soda bottles for nickles...   we get you ! ;)

Collecting was the WORST!  Do you all have any idea how many houses in rural Ohio in the 70's reeked of fried taters and potted meats.  Barf!!  :(

***///

We get that... stationed in D.C. meant living in a high-rise in Virginia...

hallways always reeked of heavy ethnic cuisine that would fry the nose buds !

Moved to nice apartment complex to get away... neighbors next door crouched in burkas around

open fire on balcony cooking goat parts.

Leasing office tried to no avail to stop it... was really bad !

LOL ! Hahahaha...!  We hear ya, son !  :P

That whole Beltway area is a melting pot of some of the grossest, filthiest, international krap-stew ever !

Now let's not even mention how they DRIVE !  And let a dusting of snow hit the Beltway and it was like

demolition derby with those guys behind the wheel !

And did you notice that the ones from The M.E. who lived there never turned on their headlights?

They thought it would drain their batteries !  Dangerous..? You bet !  Harrowing.

Took the Metro or was chauffered.  Had to... it was a cluster-puck of insanity there !

Reston was a real nice area in the 80's.  I was stationed at Ft Belvoir, Mt Vernon, Springfield area.  Traveled all over the city by Metro rail....sometimes we would ride our bicycles from post to D.C.....about 40 miles round trip, right along the Potomac.  Cheesecake in old town Alexandria.  Cherry Blossoms.....Oh, and the highest murder rate in the country at the time.  Also, I have many family members with degrees from Indiana....and Bloomington is just a few hours drive from my home now.

Reston, VA !  That's where our cars were always shipped in/out of... been there!

We'd like to have you over for a longer stay here, UMBE...

we'd like for you to take an extended "SEE AMERICA BY RAIL" train trip to see what we're all

fighting for here...

and how it's imperative we keep the kommies, socialists, fascists from completely destroying it.

Nothing personal....:confused2:

Maybe after that trip, you'll understand US a little better.

Maybe we can help you understand how a Republic works and what it means to those of US fighting the Good Fight!

We'll end you trip with a barbecue in The Great Republic of Texas at Ted Nugent's house... he'll explain it all to ya ! :tiphat:
