Rabbi
Abadi did this "by the book" last month. He didn't unilaterally make the decision to oust Maliki, Nujaifi, and Allawi. Parliament voted whole-heartedly on the measure to eliminate these three positions.
TQueezy
But was the proposal to do so unconstitutional? Because if so, then there would be a problem.
amal
Abadi did this "by the book" last month. He didn't unilaterally make the decision to oust Maliki, Nujaifi, and Allawi. Parliament voted whole-heartedly on the measure to eliminate these three positions. You sure about that? I thought the com voted to remove them and we were told parliament voted in favor of Abadis reforms but I dont recall anything about parliament voting on this specifically. The news has been all over the place though so Im not sure. IMO I dont think parliament voted to remove the three stooges malaki allawi and najafi. If they did I think it would be very contentious as they still have a lot of supporters.
Laid Back
Maliki, Allawi and Nujaifi are the most corrupt people in the government, they don't want to loose parliamentary immunity. Justice is chasing them, and they know that.! Go Abadi Go reforms Go justice
new york kevin
I always felt the fact that Parliment voted to approve the reforms Abadi proposed, that this action met the constitutional requirement for Parliments approval. I recall they justified it also by referring to Article 86. The point that some felt this law/article was disabled because of political will, To me ment that the political will was found and constitutionally exercised. The removal of Maliki, Allawi, and Nujaifi was not called for specifically. The removal of their positions was called for in the reforms package Abadi submitted to Parliment. For the purposes of lowering the cost of doing the governments business. Streamlining processes. Removing bottlenecks, in which the 3 mentioned above and or their staff of family and friends could squeeze out payback to them inorder to get xyz approved. The ME cultural equivilent of the cost of doing business. Weather or not the correct form was used to submit everything, eh who knows. I think it is just the staff of family and friends of the three amigos throwing up political road blocks inorder to see what sticks. Cuz if Maliki, Allawi, and Nujaifi go down they will go down also. If only the staff members had the insight to contact the Integrity Commission and workout a deal for themselves if they would merely turn over evidence on the 3 former VP's, it could be a win win for Abadi, his crew, and the whistle blower(s).
