Jailed: GOP candidate hit with jail time for voter fraud

A Republican candidate who ran for a Massachusetts state House seat in 2012 has been sentenced to a year in jail after he plead guilty to voter fraud.

During the 2012 election, Jack Villamaino ran in the Republican primary for a state House seat in Massachusetts. Villamaino resigned last year as the scandal broke during the Republican primary and was the East Longmeadow Board of Selectmen chairman. Villamaino plead guilty to felony charges of stealing nearly 300 ballots and changing their party affiliation from Democrat to Republican in an attempt to win the election. Only a few days later, the same number of absentee ballot requests found their way to the town clerk’s office and the list was a “name-for-name match” compared to the list that Villamaino had changed.

A judge sentenced Jack Villamaino to one year in jail, only four months to actually be served in jail. The rest of Villamaino's sentence will be suspended, but will be put on a one year probation. Villamaino's wife is also facing charges related to the innocent and will appear in court next month after pleading not guilty.

Republicans are often the ones who scream about voter fraud, but in reality it's a rare occurrence compared to the voter suppression effort that has been put into affect by the GOP. While Villamaino's actions are rare, they should set off an alarm for future voter fraud efforts that could happen in upcoming elections.

If he was a democrat, everyone would be screaming all democrats are the same well you have the same type of people on both sides of the aisle.

Obama, Clinton Campaign Officials Convicted of Election Fraud

April 26, 2013 - 7:56 am

Neither Barack Obama nor Hillarious Clinton, it turns out, were on the Indiana presidential primary ballot legally in 2008. Forgery got them both on the ballot.

A jury in South Bend, Indiana has found that fraud put President Obama and Hillarious Clinton on the presidential primary ballot in Indiana in the 2008 election. Two Democratic political operatives were convicted Thursday night in the illegal scheme after only three hours of deliberations in South Bend. They were found guilty on all counts.

Former longtime St. Joseph County Democratic party Chairman Butch Morgan Jr.  was found guilty of felony conspiracy counts to commit petition fraud and forgery, and former county Board of Elections worker Dustin Blythe was found guilty of felony forgery counts and falsely making a petition, after being accused of faking petitions that enabled Obama, then an Illinois Senator, to get on the presidential primary ballot for his first run for the White House.

Morgan was accused of being the mastermind behind the plot.

According to testimony from two former Board of Election officials who pled guilty, Morgan ordered Democratic officials and workers to fake the names and signatures that Obama and Clinton needed to qualify for the presidential race. Blythe, then a Board of Elections employee and Democratic Party volunteer, was accused of forging multiple pages of the Obama petitions.

Obama and Clinton were the only candidates on the ballot in Indiana’s 2008 Democratic primary.

Voter Fraud in Missouri: Wrong Candidate Was Elected

Hans von Spakovsky

May 17, 2013 at 2:58 pm

A guilty plea in a Kansas City, Missouri, voter fraud case this week illustrates something the U.S. Supreme Court pointed out when it upheld Indiana’s voter ID law in 2008:

[F]lagrant examples of [voter] fraud…have been documented throughout this Nation’s history [and] occasional examples have surfaced in recent years that…demonstrate that not only is the risk of voter fraud real but that it could affect the outcome of a close election.

On Monday, John C. Moretina pleaded guilty to a federal felony count of voter fraud in the August 2010 Democratic primary in Missouri’s 40th legislative district. Moretina falsely claimed he was living in the 40th district just so he could vote in the primary. This is a Democratic district where the winner of the primary, John J. Rizzo, was highly likely to become the district representative in the state house and, in fact, was elected. But Rizzo beat his Democratic opponent, Will Royster, by only one vote: 664 to 663.

Moretina did not inform the court whom he voted for, but since he is Rizzo’s uncle, it is not too much of a stretch to guess that he gave his nephew the winning margin of victory. Moreover, there were also allegations that Moretina’s wife fraudulently voted in this primary election as well, although she was not charged.

What is undeniable is that, as the Kansas City Star says, “the wrong candidate was declared [the] winner of the 2010 Democratic primary.”

Some opponents of voter ID mistakenly claim that this fraud shows that “stricter voter ID” requirements are not needed because voter ID would not have stopped this fraud. While no one claims that voter ID is a solution to all types of voter fraud, it is one of the critical steps that should be taken by states to improve the integrity of the election process.

As John Fund and I outlined in our book Who’s Counting? How Fraudsters and Bureaucrats Put Your Vote at Risk and as the Supreme Court said, voter fraud is real, and it can change the outcome of a close election. It certainly changed the outcome of this state legislative race in Missouri.

Thank you Texasgranny.

Dinarstud, I think at this point the people of America knows and are very well aware, that we have bad apples on both sides.  So We the People should focus on leaders that have good intentions... for the good of mankind.

Do you really think, we are clueless not knowing this...   :confused2:

So your intentions for bringing this article over was forrrrr... what and why?????

No, for the democrat, there is a different standard and set of rules. For the democrat, this would be prefered and acceptable behavior. For anyone else, it is a crime.

I, for one, am glad she brought it over. We certainly have worse postings than this one, and it doesn't hurt to learn of the many (or at least several) instances when some American voters have had their votes literally stolen from them by people who committed fraud by altering election results. We need to know these things so we can watch for it more carefully than we may have done in the past. And frankly, although I suspect Republicans may occasionally have done their fellow citizens a disservice by committing voter fraud, I believe the most flagrant voter frauds committed have been perpetrated  by Democrats.  My apologies to anyone who may be offended by my comment, but it sure seems this way to me.

Thank you dear Francie, you opinion is appreciated, and no offense taken.  You are precisely correct about the Republicans doing disservice. That is a given no matter what party it is.   I just wanted some clarity of the intention of the poster and preserve this from turning into a bashing, for the sake of the poster.  Considering that everyone is on edge of what is happening to our America.  :)
