CAN WE STOP THE BASHING ?

I have read and heard a lot of bashing, putting down, making fun of any posts that someone is not happy about or just rub on the wrong way. I believe if we don’t have anything nice to say about anything or anybody, sometimes it’s better to keep it to ourselves unless something really obnoxious that needs some ironing so it’s not wrinkle. Dinar Vets has been a great site for all of us, not only it provides information, rumors, investments, music, encouragements, prayers and most of all is friendship which we all enjoy one way or the other. I personally have met some great people in the site and honor to call them friends. The site has provided us with many topic options (forum) for us to choose which one we want to read or see.

We are all adults with right mind (I hope) and I believe we can play nice and fair :)/> and make our bet in dinar as investments and now we are on the same train for a long ride to RV land. In the meantime, it’s our choice either we want to make the ride enjoyable with some humor, rumor, information, encouragements, music or we want to banter and push and shove people so they jump off the train because they get discouraged and feel unwelcome. Whether we want to admit or not, it takes a lot of time and energy to do research and cut and paste the articles or rumors one brings to the site. If we don’t agree with what the articles say, please do not shoot the messenger, at least respect their good will to bring it to us. I personally enjoy reading the rumors than the news as I feel everything about Iraq and Dinar, we have heard them all, seen them all, hoped them all, spun them all till nothing to spin anymore, and nothing has happened yet. At least, we can laugh about the rumors or it can give us a little hope, probably somebody, somewhere, has the news right this time, otherwise it’s a cheap entertainment :)/> Does it create frustration ? yes, a lot but it doesn’t give us the right to be mean and bash anybody who just happens to rub us the wrong way that day.

We have run off some good people from the site and discouraged a lot as the site is not fun anymore…the day someone tries to bring something to make us all laugh, someone just has to poke the stick. If we claim we are who we are, poking is just not the right thing to do. Let’s get along and hopefully the ride will stop soon and we can all be happy and laugh our way to the bank in the meantime, let’s enjoy the ride with light heart, a smile and humor as it is said, a merry heart is a good medicine and also a smile makes a day brighter and a laugh will make our long waiting eaiser. Let’s treat articles especially rumors from a perspective of entertainments

100% agree I have had to use the block viewer section again and noticed I am blocking the same folks only they have new names but it does make my reading much more enjoyable. So I say put the LOPSTER back in there tank and let the fun begin.

I have, myself, posted a lot of what could be considered pleading in an attempt to get posters to stop this disturbing and useless behavior. I have received a lot of responses that all say, in their own creative and often nasty ways, to just ignore it.

That is easier said than done when there is really no indication in the heading that it is a bashing post. Perhaps we should ask posters to put a rating in their post headings, something like B for bashing or NB for Nasty Behavior. Or, maybe we need a new category ... Bashing and Other Ignorant, Time & Space Wasting Rants. Sadly most people would ignore that and put their post wherever they want.

But complaining about that gets the response that this is a free service and they can do "whatever the H--- they want" here. If I were Adam Montana, the person who pays for this forum, I would be frying their ... I mean, eliminating their membership and making sure they never got back onto this forum no matter what new screen name they came up with.

So, cut to short form answer for your question ... "Can We Stop The Bashing?" ... No!

Umbertino is a very nice guy and I like him. He brings some tunes to the site to make me wiggle my chair while working and a lot of times, he accompanies me when I work till wee hours with his music.

It occurs to me that not everyone might have the same definition of bashing... or be aware that others think their behavior/words are bashing. One person might take exception to taunting, while another might not like being the focal object of debate. And on and on.

Maybe it would help if we were to be bit more specific as to what we mean by bashing... Otherwise, it won't be the first time that the people you are addressing don't have a clue its them (and kudos to the very cool DV buds in here who express the courage of insight or take responsibility for putting some of their stuff in check).

Okay, I'll start... What I did on my summer vacation... oh wait.. different topic...

I personally don't mind if people have contrary information about an RV, if they present it as a thoughtful position or opinion or question. Sometimes I think people are scared and ask things in the negative so they can get reassurance in positive replies...

THen there are those who seem helllll bent on whizzing in everyone's Cheerios in order to be right that everyone is wrong and if everyone were as flippin smart as they are... we'd see it that way too..... (and keeping in mind some do have an agenda to be straight forward and educational in sharing their difference of opinion, and they maybe need to just brush up on not being so blunt... or continue getting negged... lol )

I personally only have one person on ignore and thats because it appears that the entire motivation of their posts is to find fault in the most minute detail, absent the context of the post, constantly debate the point being made, whatever it is, and not ever once, bringing anything to the post in terms of info, positive acknowledgement, encouragement or intention and leave a footprint of constant criticism, and almost arrogant tone of dismissal as to the merits of another view.

My biggest annoyance are those posts that seem committed to polarizing, isolating or berating those who do not share the same opinion.... almost to the point of sounding ignorant as they attempt to wrap everything into one limited theme. Many times, their polarizing name calling vilification isn't even the genre of the post.... but they always seem to need to bring it back to that.... they reduce the contribution of the information or discussion to its lowest and often unrelated form. Unfortunately, this tends to divide, split and isolate people from each other and in fact creates an obstacle to the very accomplishment they want... as there is no longer strength left in standing together as one for the common goal...

Let me be blunt in putting it out there in least someone miss the point. OF recent, the best example would be the gun debate.... I have strong feelings about the gun control issue. I would like to focus on that as the topic and issue upon which we either stand together, or get spit off into non productive isolated groups trading name calling quips. I am personally so frickin tired of posts that want to constantly derail the discussion by reducing it to a liberal name calling contest,..... as if liberal were a static, definable, empirical object!! There are some who don't add a day'um thing other than reducing the momentum of the discussion by injecting a few cute slams and name calling quips they then wrap up in the banner of patriotism...

And I don't know that I would mind that so much, except it does not add one single, useful, productive, active, molecule of meaningful contribution to what should be a very important discussion... And fine disagree with me, but do it with productive respect. That fact someone can call people names... well its not the kind of useful skill I would want on my team. Nor is it someone I want to spend much time with.... its kind of a waste and leaves a negative taste and bad feelings anyway.

I get we are angry. I understand it can at times make it easier to bear, if we can take our anger out on something else. I understand some people have to polarize or make others wrong in order to feel their passion... but direct that focus on the issue at hand... I mean saying those darn green eyed people are gonna be sorry if they take our guns, or those fat people are cowards, or those lower IQ people should all be sent to Chicago if they want strict gun laws, or those Bocce Ball players are entitled brats that only take....well that's just plain stupid if the goal is to intelligently discuss an issue and how we might come together in meeting it. Killing all the Bocce Ball players is not going to solve the very real issues we face.... Pretending we can do it as splintered groups.... is buying nicely into the hand of those who want you to believe that.....

Its plain stupid to think of liberal and conservative as static absolutes... and a bit questionable to not recognize we are all on a continuum of that depending upon what the topic is..... Its more than myopic to think that our economic crisis is the possible consequence of the past 10 years, or 15 years, or this administration. Pretending that the fiscal cliff is a mere debate between two political parties that just happened to show up out of nowhere in the past few years, is to deny the entire history of our fiscal policies and pursuits... And holding on to the the magic that one party has all the answers and can miraculously cure all evils... is.... well not well rounded in thought or analysis... And its not productive, helpful, or in any way wise to continue dragging every conversation down to that level, and focusing efforts on twisting around in righteousness... which keeps us stuck nonetheless.....

Oh maybe I should have kept it shorter by simply saying for me, bashing is the focused effort on name calling and vilifying every thing about which I disagree... and the need to turn every conversation into a pejorative slam of my political opponent.... and then pretending I am more righteous, correct, strong, brave, or patriotic for having done so...

(while at the same time, taking us further from meaningful solutions..)

Hummmmm leads me to wonder... maybe its the shills who are derailing us into focus upon something that will never lead to a solution and contain any possibility of solution by focusing us upon fighting over meaningless labels... Hummmm
