If I can get some time later, I will give it a shot in speculating as to what it might have meant.... or at least why some may say that.... not at Romney specifically... but maybe at the party.... and in essence, I don't think its so much about equal opportunity, or pay nor could I imagine anyone saying that the Republican party is targeting women.... so would be interested in the context of the question.

I also appreciate your sincerity in seeming to really want to hear the answer instead of argue with people about why theirs is wrong... refreshing and cool

The election is not a gender war. The election is ALL about the best interest of our country. I'm over the race card, sexuality, gender or religious issues, that some may have. As voters, we need to focus on the direction of our country.

I can't believe that you haven't heard the democratic war cry that the "Republicans have launched a War on Women". Started by Sandra Fluke over the contraception fiasco.

Just google war on women and you will have hundreds of thousands of results. Nearly all of the results will be some left leaning, liberal or democratic pundit spouting

the party line. My personal opinion, if you want birth control pay for it yourself. There are free clinics in almost every city in the USA that through Title X will hand out free pills.

Every female student in almost every high school can now walk into the nurses office and request them (without their parents knowledge or permission). HHS overstepped

their bounds when they tried to force religious institutions to provide FREE contraception and abortifacient drugs against their religious convictions.

If I have to pay for my prescriptions, why should I have to also furnish women with free contraception through my taxes.

The real war on women is in the Middle East, where girls are castrated by the age of twelve, females wear canvas tents to work in, teen girls are shot in the head for wanting to go to school, women are beaten, raped and killed for the slightest infractions.......and women in the United States are crying that they are victims because they are afraid a Republican president will outlaw their rights to kill their own unborn babies. Most of the non-profit women's rights groups in our country, were specifically founded for the purpose of aquiring of grant money....most of which goes to the administration. They are cashing in on decades-old issues that sprung from The Feminist Movement from the 1960's and 1970's, and they are milking it to death.

I personally have never felt discriminated against because I am a woman. I have never made that the reason I vote a certain way, I guess women's rights just isn't a big issue for me because I feel we are all treated fairly equal this day and age... to answer the question, no, I do not feel Republicans have a war against women.

The whole "War on Women" is made up to hide what Obama is really trying to do, this is a War on my Religious Freedoms. This whole thing is not about paying for contraceptives so someone can have sex, it is about the government forcing the Catholic church to do something they have been against for over 2000 years. Abortion is not new, it is not a current issue, read your history. Christ and the first Christains spoke out against it. My ancesters fought hard for my religious freedom and I will not allow Obama to start taking it away now.

This tactic that this party is using is degrading to all women. I know my worth, my talents and my God. How dare they tell or insinuate we are worthless.

This is how this party wants to make women feel. But unfortunately we have some blinders out there.

I am not of this class of women. I will defend my religious right, defend the unborn, our senior's and more. Thinking with specific body parts is not in the equation. Thinking with my heart and soul is what guides me.

I'm in a somewhat unique position.

I have a GREAT wife of 31 years 3 grown daughters 4 granddaughters and even the dog is female.

Needless to say I am "passingly" familiar with the woman's point of view.

LOL LOL.... I constantly shock my friends in "knowing so much in such detail about so much, and on the other hand know so very little about many other things.... I don't watch US News ever ever, as its either too slanted one way or the other, or it completely omits coverage of the critical underpinnings holding up our world as it currently stands. If I can't get it primary source, I usually don't go seeking out someone else's rendition or bias about what is going on.

As far as politics go, it makes me crazy to hear such myopic, shallow, self-serving, limited, isolated and close minded opinions from both sides of the street that I try to avoid it as much as possible... (but its like that dern moth to flame thing.... its kind of like watching Honey Boo Boo.... its scarring but you can't take your eyes off it while being mortified that people actually participate in life like that ).

Watching people use the word liberal completely out of historical and literal context is like listening to someone scratch a chalkboard, and I keep telling myself I should write a brief (5 page lol ) recounting of history, so people will use the correct word (which would be socialist, communist or something along those lines) in describing a nation's foundation. Lots of people writing on the boards herein, use the word "liberal" as a perjorative term, and it is completely out of the historical context of this country....

(and did yoiu know that Nepolean was the first person to use the word liberal when referring to politics, and considered himself to be "liberal".... Nepolean no less...

But I digress..... (which is fairly easy these days after being hit over the head at work last month lol lol )

So apart from whether people get prescription birth control from whomever source.... what I would like to know.... is.... why is it culturally considered to be the female's responsibility to prevent birth and not that of her partner, who contributes 50% of the pregnancy equation? Is it because she is the one who carries the baby? I sometimes wonder if the father was legally compelled to take on the raising of the child for the first two years... no exceptions for any reason..... if there would be a different approach to the entire question. If "dad" had to take the child, and provide for all the child's needs in every sense of the word, morning to night, for the first two years of the child's life, and do it without "mom"...... or go to prison for 5 years by law.... Would it change the way we see the question of birth control, aid to single parents, etc etc etc? As it is, it seems that the "dad" can do the do, walk away, and unless caught by the Courts, and skip ta de do, off into the sunset and make more, absent any consequence at all. And if the Court does catch him, if he quits his job, there is no further expectation for him to pay for the child's care... However, the child still needs care.. and someone has to pay for it.... which in our society is generally expected from the mother. And to be clear I am NOT saying all unwed guys do this... not at all... and of course there are absolutely very repsonsible men out there who do care for their children. What I am saying... is that it is not required or even expected necessarily from the guy, whereas it essentially is, from the girl/woman.... Why is that? We all know there is unequal pay in the private sector (apart from whoever's party fault it is or isn't).... so why does the person who get paid less, expected to care for the child she was only half responsible for creating.

Maybe only women should be allowed to vote on laws that effect their body until there is the expectation of equal responsibility on the part of the guys who contribute to the production of children? (and I am not talking about post conception... that is off the table as something I would discuss and respect the opinions of each as to their own beliefs).

If women are the "weaker gender" why is it that they are the ones who are responsible to say no.... I've never found much weakness in that.... Oh for the days of black and white movies, when things seemed far more simple
