This is somemore misinformation! Supposedly, they have been saying that the new currency will be out by January 2013, and that they are looking for a printer. Originally, they were going to have it out by September, but like everything else in Iraq, it was postponed. Now they say this is unconstitutional...no way!

Iraq has a plan in place, and the entire government is in support of it. These type articles are just misinformation by the government. If not, then everyone is on the wrong path, and we will need to reevaluate what they are really up to.

The article is probably quite correct. Currency can only be replaced under a redenomination which would require a government bill and approved by parliament. Replacing the currency means a new ISO code.

 

Changes to an existing currency are normally at the discretion of the central bank.

Yep - once we see & verify a new ISO code, we can basically come to the idea that a LOP is imminent to a degree.

 

But, we have yet to see a new ISO code - and getting a new ISO code is also a process that can take awhile.
