  1. Thug (I think) posted a chat earlier that had a very interesting comment. It questioned whether or not they might consider an RV taking place only after the summit. It implied that it would encourage a smooth summit and I actually have to wonder if that might be a very strong thought. Supposing this information is accurate in this link with the position possibly being filled...do you think they would hold off on the announcement of WHO it would be until after the summit or at least just prior to it? I'm not trying to stir up the masses...but I have to admit that I've wondered how smooth the summit would be if Iraq RV'd prior to it taking place and not just after (assuming this placement allows for an instant RV by Shabs). Better to hold the summit before huge parties break out in the streets?
  2. I keep re-reading the opening to the article. I see nothing that reflects the author as being an official voice of Iraq. Although what he says seems to indicate some of our lobsters graduated from his teachings...I see nothing to indicate he is anything more than another speculator...albiet an "in country" one. Folks, I too think the article suggests similarities to what has come to be known as a LOP theory. Keep in mind it is just that...a theory. I personally take this article as an economic Professor's way of debating outcomes that a reporter decided to bring to print. I would love to see the same professor change his theory topic to an RV stance or even a break down of how he expects this "lifting" to unfold in real time (in the market place at point of simple purchases) considering the newly disclosed denoms to be printed. Folks...this is theoretical jargon from one professor who is not government related or official...it is also a print in the news that I consider smoke. No...not sticking my head in the sand. Just choosing to ignore that which does not ultimately bring more value to the dinar making it "more powerful than the dollar". The new currency denoms being printed will be exchanged for old denoms at some future point and they are visibly devoid of excessive zeros. Currently, it is impossible to convert 1 IQD (new or old) into 1 dollar. Once the the new coin fils are released, it will take a pocket FULL of change to come close to 1 dollar. No, even common sense should tell you there ABSOLUTELY HAS TO BE A SiGNIFICANT REVAAAAAAALUUUUE before any such zero lifting is implimented(or new denoms..RD release)...if for no other reason that to make the most recent (and OFFICIAL) currency denoms viable. Yes, my opinion. But I see nothing to support a "LOP" and feel it could have been done more than two years ago if indeed it was the solution as a stand alone measure. An RD perhaps after a revalue. Zeros can be dropped to encourage this "social exchange" the prof talks about but it will not be common sensical to reduce 30T to 30B without first revaluing the dinar itself. The very reason for this measure and it's use in the market place goes against the practical application if done before an RV. I'm done here. GO RV(Keep...I know yer lurkin, Brother Man, he he he...what's your thoughts with the new denom info considered?)
  3. WOOOB WOOOOB WOOOOOB WOOOOB WOOOB!! YUCK! Thank you, Okie, for educating us on what a partial global currency means.
  4. "World Trade Organization were previously wary" And I like the choice of the words PREVIOUSLY WARY when discussing the dinar and Iraq's abililty to support it at future values.
  5. "...speculators exploited the game and the results are not only disappointing but also play a role sabotage of economic performance as a whole." Said Ahmed Ok...this is all I got from this entire thing that seemed focused enough to make sense. By "sense", I mean the only time they said something without a veiled meaning. Naturally (if I read it correctly) it is aimed at those of us who see an RV as common sensical. Personally...I think these economists place way too much on the "factor psychologically" of the "drop zeros" plan. Seems to me they think that if citizens don't have to exchange as many dinar for a product because the note is smaller by zeros and not larger by value...will somehow fool these citizens into thinking their dinar are actually strong. Iraq might be uneducated in some respects but they are naturals at bartering. I think they're smart enough to realize when toilet paper is toilet paper no mater how many sheets it takes to wipe. And they are STILL only getting so much of it on each roll. My point? The only real psychological factor that will boost the citizens' faith in their own currency is a LEGITIMATE revalue where dropping zeros means moving that decimal. No matter how many current notes will "condense" (25000 becomes aprox 25) it still depletes their resources at the same rate...they just don't have to use a wheel barrow to remove it from their savings. THEY STILL HAVE TO SPEND THE SAME VALUED AMOUNT...meaning the psycological implication is that they could possibly feel they have even LESS money in hand. They are not stupid and these "economists" seem to think the Iraqi people are foolish enough to want the same old dinar over the USD when trading. They will use the currency that is actually stronger in value if for no other reason that to protect themselves from a currency that many merchants laugh at now. My opinion on this...but I think it's a valid possibility. I hold to my RV speculation and look at this as smoke on the water.
  6. Wow....just....wow. bigdan....this, our new found friend, is exactly why you see so much commentary on Okie's rediculous posts. LOL Just when we think Okie couldn't get any lower on the food chain...I just wish he'd de-evolve to a point that he no longer had arms or fingers to type. That's the strongest comment I could make against his unscrupulous lies considering I'm a creationist.
  7. I comPLETELY agree with this statement, my friend. Contingent solely upon graduation.
  8. yeah, many have NO intentions of taking the classes. The semester starts...the classes are OVERflowing where you can't even find a seat. Within only a few days...long enough for the system to count you present in class and authorize the check to be cut...the classes thin out to nearly HALF of the people it started with. Yeah, amazing how many people bail after the checks are cut. If they want to help keep students from defaulting so quickly...they need, instead, to increase the period of time the loan is interest free from 6mths to 1yr. It's damn near impossible for a student with no support from family to establish themselves financially within six months of graduation. That extra 6 months will allow a student to pay the loans without the interest suddenly ballooning the cost of their college. THAT is the REAL issue here. THAT is why the majority get behind. If your education for a simple associates degree cost 20000, please tell me how it's possible to pay that off within 6 months of a student's graduation date (the point where interest begins). Realistically, I don't think the lenders ever cared about giving a hand UP and up and the expectations to be paid in full by six months of graduation...was NEVER realistic. But...this is just MY opinion.
  9. Hey, watercop....where u from (area) in the Rocky Mtns? I got to visit several times this last year and FELL IN LOVE with them. I especially loved the Western slopes and around Marble. MAAAAN, I wish I could be there this spring.
  10. On the UP side, articles don't get overlooked as much. I have seen several (what I believe to be) great articles burried under other headlines. No harm no foul, huh, amigo?
  11. ha ha, yeah, I keep trying to tell em... Serpentine, serpentine, serpentine!! They just won't listen....
  12. Wanna be Dictators like Maliki...BEWARE!! You can't steel ballot boxes from De La! And ahhh yes! Those loverly high speed De La Rue money counting machines! Quickly now, all you dinar holders! Single file lines at each of our new De La Rue specials should count your 1 million dinar quickly and efficiently. Now...please place your vote before you hit the "cash out" button. Seriously, though...I feel like they're really trying to get some legitimacy guidelines established with all this and it certainly boosts MY confidence.
  13. Hmmm...Fawn...why does that sound so familiar?? OH, here it is...k98 had posted an article a week ago. Funny how this stuff trickles...and if it picks up in Iraq...I may wish I had stock in Fawn. (grin) This was his post if you wanna compare the articles. Thanks, Yota. "Kuwaiti large appetite for access to investment opportunities for its companies in Basra" Read more: http://dinarvets.com.../#ixzz1pH32JAXu
  14. Yep...looks like the Eye of Sauron is upon the hobbits again. RUUUUN Mr. FRODO!! Seriously playing up this Kurd thing today, huh? I saw your other post, amigo, that directly mentioned the Article(140) and with two stories out today...hmmm. They're trying to put enough pressure on to thread a rope through a needle? Sounds like some Kurds wanna stick the needle in Sauron's eye! "President of Kurdistan region Masoud Barzani was right as to the central government as a failure, saying that the resources of Iraq amounted to more than (470) billion worth of oil over the past five years...did not solve the problem of one of the problems suffered by the Iraqi people, as there are no plans or visions to solve them in the future." And heck, I thought they'd already handed over Hashbrowns? (Hashemi)Juuuust when I wuz feelin guuuud about it. IT'S SMOKE!! WHERE IS MY MIRROR?!!
  15. Wow...they sure like their "phases" these days. That's like going on your honeymoon and hoping to prolong the big "O" in three phases. Too little too late and you just have a mess on your hands. Seriously, though...lotta pressure to make this stuff concrete (like Article 140) before the shindig kicks off...they want the silver to sparkle, or what?!?
  16. "delete the zeros": how many deletes does it take to get to the center of a legitimate currency revalue? Good question...let's find out... Ahhh one....ahhhh twoooo.......a thrrrrree... Now...give us that magic number already!!! I soooo agree, he he he
  17. "continued procrastination to resolve outstanding issues and for the application of agreements before the formation of the government" Sounds like they're saying..."You expect to usher other leaders in and host this when you haven't even got a fully seated government...and aren't even serious enough to work together?" Sounds like they just busted Iraq's chops...Maliki needs it but this just sounds like bored "journalists".
  18. Sgt...after reading this article...I don't think arguments against your stance on this have much wiggle room. With all the progress in Iraq...I'm just speechless to read this about Maliki. I mean...I've always considered him to be holding up progress but this...this is a whole new level of bad use of his position. I hope we read more about this with/including comments from Maliki, now. I HOPE to see something BEFORE he has his chance to boast himself at the summit.
  19. Ok, this is NOT good news...at all. Maliki sounds like a Shiite favoring dictator similar...too similar...to Saddam.Yeah...they have a summit around the corner and this could be the reason Maliki refuses. I'm so angry right now. I just realized I had not seen the entire article. "The U.S. has made several requests in recent months to the Iraqi government, including directly to Prime Minister Maliki, to either halt the flights or allow the planes to be inspected in compliance with international law." Wanting a RV for the dinar aside.....I will be very angry if all of this time and energy placed into building democracy in Iraq simply turns into a framework for a self serving dictator to slip right back into position using Shiite style law as a facade for democracy. Also makes me quite nervous about Maliki's desire for the summit, too. Stopping the planes for an inspection should have been a no brainer and in light of the conditions in Iraq and Russia pushing weapons...Maliki should have used caution at the very least!
  20. Hmmm...if Maliki didn't stop the flights or allow a full disclosure inspection...that's one thing. However....I'm hoping there was a credible search of the flights if that much weaponry was suspected! MIGHTY bold of Maliki to refuse an inspection if it was offered but I certainly think he'd have NO problem arranging to have close by U.S. or some other inspecting authority evaluate the load...unless he really did pay a debt to his Shiite conscience. Is Maliki that bold? If so...what does he know that will protect him from repercussions? Will there be ANY repercussions? This could bear the full weight of the global media on Iraq again if the Intel of weapons was at all accurate and a connection is made. I wonder what other journalists are on the tracks of this story?
  21. :lmao: ALEX IS GOING FOR THAT PRIME TIME ANCHOR SPOT!!! DIVE DEEP, Alex, DIVE DEEEEEP!
  22. Yeah, I've been doin the same, Tony. Someone's lurking.... C...we got'chur back, gurl! NO ICE CREAM 4 CHU!!!
  23. The Far Side...OMG...you are soo right! I hadn't considered that obvious correlation!! Oh, and wasn't sure if you caught it or not but bigdan, I think, kind of gets this barrage of commentary directed at Okie now. He even gave appologies for his saying "grow up". I'm hoping he'll recover from the negs soon enough to post again in the future. lol I think the new guy has class for a same day apology. GUUUUUUH!!! At least show a lil shame... HA!!
  24. HA HA HA!! Gotcha, C, and as always....BIG OL THANK YAZ!!! (oh wait...I take back that cuz I hear yer a MEAN lady!!) NO ICE CREAM 4 CHU!! NO doubt! I gave a timid laugh at that myself....heh
