  1. First of all, whomever said it was "listed" at the airport never supplied us with any tangible proof of it. Secondly, you are coming here citing precisely the same thing only not at the airport, but at a mall. Come on man.......links/photos/etc. THEN....just maybe some of us here at DV might believe you. Stop with the he said/she said bull shite, and get a "*" clue. We all want this to happen, but for you to come here and spout virtually the same thing as the "Airport" listing poster has said, please! Prove me wrong, post your proof, show us that it is not more fodder for us to scoff at and raise our eyebrows to as we are so accustomed. No offence, but you my friend are presenting yourself as nothing more than a pumper.
  2. Smee2, that is some highlarryous stuff!!!
  3. Seriously? "A US soldier cashed in 6million IQD with a street vendor and now has over $20million USD in a US bank account." So an Iraqi street vendor was walking around with the tune of 20 million USD, which if my math is correct, works out to an exchange rate of 3.33(repeating) with no spread??? Wow! I guess they have run out of things to come up with, so now street vendors have loads of USD to cash our soldiers out with.
  4. I may be wrong here, but I think that the writer of that piece was using the word genesis and not genius to describe the event they were talking about. Genesis as in the beginning of something, whether great or awful. Genius works too, however I feel that with what was being said, genesis was the correct verbage. Very long piece by the way. Informative, but lengthy.
  5. Teach, your guess is as good as mine as to what we "should" do about it. As for what I "am" doing about it? Take away their power a little at a time. Chip away at it if you will. Talk to people that you know, and really make them think about the things that they do on a day to day basis. If you can exact change in people on the simple things that they do each day in their routines, that opens their minds or thought processes to changing how they view our country, and how it is being destroyed/run. I ask myself every day why I voted the way I have in the past. Why? Because of what he/she said, some of the views the candidate had were in line with how I "would" like things to go. Bottom line though, every candidate that runs is eventually coached or steered in one direction. If they veer from that, well look at what happened to JFK. I guess what I am trying to say with all of this is....Americans really need to re-think how they do things, and why. We all like the fact that we can basically do whatever we want, within reason of course. We do have laws to follow! But, the American people (sheeple), if they really want change for the better, have to do one thing, and one thing only. And that is stand up, and say, "NO!" No sir, I will not let you drive our country deeper into debt! No sir, I will not stand by while you send our sons and daughters off yet again to another senseless battle simply so you and your "fat cat" cronies can line your pockets. No sir, I will not let you dictate to me and my fellow citizens what I can and cannot do, as that is CLEARLY stated in my constitution already! Get my point? I am not saying we need to riot, as nothing ever comes of violence other than more violence and bloodshed. But, then again, our country was built on blood. Bottom line, stand up for what we believe in = conundrum, as what we believe in is so varied being that we are the "land of the free".
  6. Again people, Kuwait DID NOT RV or Revalue. They RI'd. Which is RE-INSTATED! Huge difference than a revalue. You can compare Iraq to Kuwait all you want, but it makes you look like a moron for doing so. Do some homework on the subject and you will find that it did not happen 5 years ago. 76er, was all of that from "another site", or did you interject anything?
  7. Very well said Goose. The original post reads a bit like a news script or a narrative from an article though. Where did this come from? I mean no disrespect, just wondering if it was written by the poster or if it came from somewhere else. If it was written by the original poster, well kudos to you for a fine analysis of what is/should be happening in Iraq. They really do have a ton of growing up to do. Infants compared to the rest of the world that has resources that they do.
  8. You do realize that the US President is just a figure head, right? Everything that "he" does whether it was Clinton, Bush Sr., Bush Jr. Obama, or any of the others before them in office, follow a very well scripted "act" to follow dependent upon a number of things. To say any one of them is stupid or moronic, well you would solely be judging that off of what? The stuff you see on television during an address to the nation, or perhaps some random video footage of them "bloopering" perhaps. They are human just like you or I, they make mistakes, albeit that when they do it is fairly profound and millions of people see it. You don't like who is in office? Vote them out by voting for the other candidate, but do not trash the presidency because of what "they" claim. Form your own opinion about Mr. President, why you feel that way and what you think should be done to change it, instead of making claims that they have "no common sense". Sorry, but I really despise when people trash talk the leader of my country, even if I do not agree with all that he has said and done.
  9. Errrrr, yeah ok. So now he is claiming to be a fighter pilot from the Korean War? Which is the ONLY time that the USA has ever engaged in aerial combat with the Chinese, as they backed the North Koreans. We have never declared war on China, but had a battle with them? Yes, indirectly. So there is "some" truth behind his "MAN AS A FIGHTER PILOT THAT HAD TO SEND MANY CHINESE TO THE PROMISE LAND", statement.
  10. Point was loud and clear. No misunderstanding, and yes I did notice the dates that accompanied your data. As for "any thoughts on how that would be possible?"......consider the fact that the rate that the IQD is sitting at now is ARTIFICIAL. The CBI site for Iraq is controlled by whom? As far as I can tell, it is ran from somewhere in Texas. Now, that is a bit strange isn't it? Why would the Central Bank of Iraq's website be "hosted" in Texas, which I might add is the home state of W. Oh yeah, I went there. I am a firm believer that all of what has transpired over the years with Iraq has been meticulously planned from beginning to end. The US has a knack for doing things like that, so do you really think that the "numbers" that are floating around about how much money Iraq has in circulation is accurate, let alone what the US has? Correct me if I am wrong, but money equals power, and if this "plan" goes down anywhere close to what people are talking about, things are going to change drastically. The value of the IQD was changed to 1170/1 for what reason? Hmm, lets think about that. Who instated the value, and why? The IQD's value BEFORE that was what? Those are the questions that come to me when someone like yourself states that it is not possible to RV or RI to the value it was at PRIOR to the Gulf War (1990). Now to answer those questions I would have to be a part of that plan, and know the intimate details of how it is to unfold. Being the rational thinking, sometimes outside of the box, as in there is no box, I have no doubts that the IQD can be supported at the previous rate of, $3.2169 USD to 1 IQD. That only changed because? UN sanctions were imposed on the IQD, and the sanctions placed on Iraq by the United States and the international community caused the IQD to devalue to a rate of $1 USD = 3000 IQD. So, it only stands to reason that, with the sanctions in the process of being removed (Chapter 7), which some say have nothing to do with the RV/RI, when in fact it does, that the rate should return to a value that is near that to which it was before the sanctions were imposed. Of course factors are considered, such as yes GDP, inflation etc. So, to answer your question the simplest way possible, some things just happen the way they do. You can look at this from an Economists view such as yours, or, you can look at it from ALL angles and consider everything that is and has been presented. Bottom line, we BOTH could be right, but this is not about who is right or wrong my friend. This is about the restructuring of a country's currency that has been torn apart for far too long. I have stated numerous times that I am proud of Iraq for how far they have come. They are "young" as a nation and have a mountain of problems. They are the ones that will benefit from this more than any of us. Commerce, farming/agriculture, business contracts with foreign countries, a RELIABLE power grid. The list goes on and on. Most importantly though, they will have pride. Pride because they are no longer under the Ba'ath control. Hmm, feudalism (third world-ism) or democracy?
  11. Now that is some information that I and the rest of us can digest, rather than just spouting off some number such as 60 Trillion, which is more than what is depicted here from the information that you have provided. And yes, I do understand all of what you have given in your reply. I did not quote the whole post as that was lots of info. Thank you for the "education".
  12. Just to elaborate a bit on how much physical currency the US has here you go. http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/series/CURRENCY?cid=25 2001-11-28: 994.2 2011-11-21: 993.1 2011-11-14: 989.9 2011-11-07: 986.9 2011-10-31: 986.8 That is in Billions of dollars in circulation, or M1, actual physical currency in USD.
  13. I respect your point of view. However, what they have or any other country has "in circulation" is arbitrary in this day and age. Hello electronic banking and digital money. As for "Now all of the currency in the entire world has a US equivalent value of about $60 Trillion", that is just plain ridiculous. ALL of the currency? I don't think so. Just curious as to where/how you arrived at 60 Trillion.
  14. Do a little research on what the IQD was worth BEFORE Saddam was in power, go back a few years to say 1940's. The IQD was worth quite a lot. Why wouldn't or shouldn't it be at a rate similar to that or better now that he has been removed and they have progressed since then? More resources, more infrastructure albeit archaic compared to the US or even Russia. They have bounds more at their disposal than they did before Saddam. History of the IQD in short: Currency unit consisting of 1,000 fils or 20 dirhams. When officially introduced at the end of the British mandate (1932), the Iraqi dinar was equal to, and was linked to, the British pound sterling, which at that time was equal to US$4.86. Iraqi dinar (ID) equaled US$4.86 between 1932 and 1949 and after devaluation in 1949, equaled US$2.80 between 1949 and 1971. Iraq officially uncoupled the Iraqi Dinar from the pound sterling as a gesture of independence in 1959, but the Iraqi dinar remained at parity with the pound until the British unit of currency was again devalued in 1967. One Iraqi dinar remained equal to US$2.80 until December 1971, when major realignments of world currencies began. Upon the devaluation of the United States dollar in 1973, the Iraqi Dinar appreciated to US$3.39 It remained at this level until the outbreak of the Iran-Iraq War in 1980 In 1982 Iraq devalued the dinar by 5 percent, to a value equal to US$3.22, and sustained this official exchange rate without additional devaluation despite mounting debt In early 1988, the official dinar-dollar exchange rate was still Iraqi dinar (ID)1 to US$3.22; however, with estimates of the nation’s inflation rate ranging from 25 percent to 50 percent per year in 1985 and 1986, the dinar’s real transaction value, or black market exchange rate, was far lower-only about half the 1986 official rate 1986–2003 between .33 cents to 1.32 to a dollar Oil-production: 2.452 million bbl/day (2001 est.); note — production was disrupted as a result of the March-April 2003 war (2001 est.) GDP: purchasing power parity — $58 billion (2002 est.) Exports–partners:US 40.9%, Canada 8.2%, France 8.2%, Jordan 7.5%, Netherlands 6.4%, Italy 5.4%, Morocco 4.7%, Spain 4.4% (2002) In october 2003, the official Dinar-dollar exchange rate was ID1 to US$0.00027 August 2004 till 2005, the official dinar-dollar exchange rate is ID1 to US$0.00068. Population: 25,374,691 (July 2004 est.) Jan 1st 2006, the official Iraqi dinar-US dollar exchange rate is ID1 to US$0.00067 Dec 8 2012, the official Iraqi dinar-US dollar exchange rate is ID1 to US$0.00086 which some speculate is set artificially by the powers that be. Sorry for the length, just thought I would help some people understand that it is not impossible for the IQD to RV/RI at the some of the rates that have been thrown out to us via the rumor mill.
  15. How about you LOOK at the link before you click on it.....anyone who knows how to use a computer should see that a web address would not start like that, and if it did, well xxx means what?? LOL! As for the pic, anyone care to get back on topic and comment on it? I for one think its someone's laughable attempt to stir things up. As why would it only show a "Change in rate" for the USD and not the Euro/GBP etc.??? Aren't any bells and whistles going off for anyone? When a currency revalues etc, it does not just change for the USD, it changes worldwide. Although, the spread depicted in that pic would be rather nice. One can only hope.
  16. Exactly!! And since when do they "have to RV" to be out of Ch 7??? They do need a recognized currency, nothing about an RV is needed or stated in the UN Sanctions for CH7. Sorry, not "have to RV" but, "7:54 AM [jonnywg] OK group. IRAQ has been removed from Chapter 7. RV is a mandatory part." Stop being a parrot Johnny, do some of your OWN research. Morons.
  17. Any attack on a US Embassy is an act of war/aggression. "The term “act of aggression” has to all intents and purposes subsumed the legal term “act of war” and made it irrelevant, although “act of war” is still used rhetorically by States that feel threatened." So yes, any foreign "State" or "Group" that attack a US Embassy will be handled as an "Act of War". They would be attacking sovereign US soil, and would be considered no differently from it happening here in the states. Check out "Crimes of War" http://www.crimesofwar.org/a-z-guide , loads of info about laws pertaining to war and the legalities of it. As for Sadr, I think he should reeeeeeeeeallly think about things before he does anything to a US Embassy. Then again, one could "speculate" that it is all a dramatic play to justify whatever comes next. Theater on a global scale.
  18. Sorry forgot to add that part. 571 is the branch code for bank of Baghdad. as in the XXX at the end of each swift code. BABIIQBAXXX
  19. Something that is a bit easier to explain what a SWIFT code is: SWIFT code is a standard format of Bank Identifier Codes (BIC) and it is unique identification code for a particular bank. These codes are used when transferring money and messages between banks. The SWIFT code consists of 8 or 11 characters. When 8-digits code is given, it refers to the primary office. First 4 characters - bank code (only letters) Next 2 characters - ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code (only letters) Next 2 characters - location code (letters and digits) (passive participant will have "1" in the second character) Last 3 characters - branch code, optional ('XXX' for primary office) (letters and digits) FOR EXAMPLE: No Institution City Heading Swift Code 1 AL RAFIDAIN BANK BAGHDAD RAFBIQBAXXX 2 AL-BILAD ISLAMIC BANK FOR INVESTMENT AND FINANCE BAGHDAD AIIFIQBAXXX 3 AL-HUDA BANK BAGHDAD BHDAIQBAXXX 4 ARAB BANKING CORPORATION BAGHDAD ABCOIQBAXXX 5 ASHUR INTERNATIONAL BANK FOR INVESTMENT BAGHDAD AIBIIQBAXXX 6 BABYLON BANK COMPANY BAGHDAD BABKIQBAXXX 7 BANK MELLI IRAN-BAGHDA BAGHDAD MELIIQBAXXX 8 BANK OF BAGHDAD BAGHDAD BABIIQBAXXX 9 BASRAH INTERNATIONAL BANK FOR INVESTMENT BAGHDAD BIBIIQBAXXX 10 BYBLOS BANK SAL ARBIL BRANCH ARBIL BYBAIQBAXXX It (SWIFT CODES) has absolutely nothing to do with the IQD's number.
  20. On top of what Mak63 said, would they rather be under the boot of a tyrant ruled by fear and no future that I or any of you would want to be a part of. The Iraqi people have been kept in the dark by Saddam, his followers and their practices. Now they see what freedom really is, and they are following suit with the "American" way. They may be dumb, but that are not that dumb. Seems to me that they know exactly what they are doing by holding up the RV/RI/RD if in fact they are holding it up at all due to wanting a larger piece of the pie. They stand to not only become monetarily rich, but rich with commerce, technology, education, agriculture, and most of all pride. I for one am proud to be a part of this "investment", not only to make a buck or two but to be a part of history in the making, Iraq's future depends on this and they know it. They owe it to themselves, they owe it to the world to better themselves, as so many have helped them arrive where they are today. And yes, some have sacrificed their lives. US and coalition forces should be remembered by each and every Iraqi citizen, and never forgotten. They are living in the "new" Iraq because of them, only natural that the IQD should be "new" as well! Think positive, think RV. Each day is a gift, some more so than others.
  21. That kid is amazing! My parents went to Mexico a few years back, and there was a kid doing similar work to that, but instead of watercolors he was using strictly spray paint. They brought me back a couple as a gift as I have an appreciation for "random" art and was an art student at the time. As for the Kyat, I am right there with booking a flight as soon as the IQD RV's and I have some "extra" jing in my pocket to go traipsing around the world and see what other "financial adventures" I can get into!
  22. No offense, but what are you going on about? Read what? I respect what you are saying, however you are telling us to read what exactly? Of course you can learn quite a lot from reading, BUT, and I am sorry there is always a big butt in the way, do not believe everything that you read. History in America is what THEY tell us it is. The crap that is taught to kids in history class is far from how things actually happened in this country. I agree with you on that, "What we are lead to believe is real, is not"......I am interested in reading what you have. Enlighten the rest of us, as there is no harm in sharing knowledge only in keeping it for yourself.
  23. For you Mr/Ms/Mrs janderson, wake up and smell the Maxwell House. Take it with a grain of salt. Breathe, inhale, repeat. I am ashamed to have the same first initial and same last as you. Think before you post. This WILL happen, as for when WHO EFFIN KNOWS! All of us here on DV will be extremely happy when it does. As much humor as I get out of the DV Rumors section, I would much rather be sitting on a beach sippin an umbrella drink thinking about what shennanigans I can get into next rather than what RUMOR I am going to laugh about in the DV forums. Oh, and by the way, the EAGLE has not landed.
  24. Yeah, his stance kind of reminds me of Barbrady on South Park. "Move along, nothing to see here". I just wish my fellow Americans would wake up and realize just how Effed up things are here in our country and stop going about their daily lives of being sheep and doing what they are told. Question everything, ask "Why" and "How" as much as you can. I know some of you are probably thinking, "Oh great, Ghost is another conspiracy theorist". Not even close. My eyes are wide open to what our "peers" have been doing to our country, and it makes me sick that it all boils down to one thing. High five to the first person that posts the answer.
