because of deficit spending, at some point, the only entity left who will want to buy treasury bonds will be the federal reserve. we will essentially be loaning the government money to pay interest and send out checks to ourselves with freshly printed money. i believe we are past the point of no return. any politician willing to drastically cut federal spending/benefits and raise taxes will immediately be voted out of office. in essence, representative democracy will be our downfall. the big three (soon to be four) socialist programs of our era have failed and need to be eliminated immediately. sure, i know most of us have paid into social security and medicare all of these years, and we want our money like they promised, but the alternative of not giving that up is financial ruin for all. a quick look at the numbers makes it painfully clear and undeniable. now, these idiots (dems and repubs) are squabbling over whether they should cut one billion or six billion dollars from the budget! for what? what difference could that tiny percentage make?

BanG, I love this country, I pray for those in authority over our country and I pray for our troops. There is a time and a season for everything under the sun. A time to be born and a time to die. It was a great post. To put it in perspective for the visual thinkers, I once heard that one trillion dollars could be seen in the following way.

The way I have become prepared for my family is to have non perishable food on hand. Buy something extra every week and put it away. Go get yourself a water purification (portable) system. I'm not saying build a bomb shelter or anything, but having extra peanut butter, rice, pasta, water, things like that won't hurt. If nothing happens.....Great! If it does your prepared. Don't forget your dogs or cats, buy extra food for them as well. It's like having Hurricane supplies for the impending storm that "But for the Grace of God" missed us. So you don't need that stuff for an emergency, it won't go bad or spoil. Simple things.

Thanks, I'm not sure as my buddy Hammy has put it Stock Up On food Items etc. Though I have the utmost respect for him and his advice here is my 2 cents for what it's worth. Diversify your holdings. Market, Precious Metals, Foreign currency. Make certain your Passport is up to date. I personally believe in being prepared but I choose to be lite and highly mobile should any calamity hit us. I do not believe hunkering down and trying to hold the home fort will do any good what so ever, gangs form and people will take what they want no matter how much ammo you have. JMO. Peace.
