The Islamic calendar is based on the revolutions of the Moon, so it has only 354 days. Dhu al-Hijjah, the New Year, begins on the first day of Muharram, the first Islamic month. Because all Islamic days start at sunset, so do the holidays.

Does that surprise you? They'll have more in December too! Hopefully in the days in between they can get some important laws passed and move forward - but they do typically move at a snails pace and the holidays don't help!

They actually seem to believe in the one step forward, two steps back philosophy. <_<
