ashtray
theres no way we would leave iraq before they are out of ch7............ we are obligated by the geneva convention to stay in iraq and provide security until the govt is seated and they can provide for their own security .. so if this article is true .... they must be planning on having this done before we leave .. and if they are to be completely out by years end .. they are going to wrap it up very soon .. and start withdraw... i dont think the withdraw will begin till govt is seated .. .. this will be coming very soon in my opinion .. and again ..if this article is true .. i could not get the link to work off another site to give you a link .. sorry .. but heres what is posted on another site ... BAGHDAD — Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki has said US forces will leave Iraq as scheduled by year’s end, and that there will not be any permanent US bases in the country, a statement from his office said on Tuesday. “The agreement on the withdrawal of American forces will be implemented on schedule by the end of the year, and there will not be any bases for US forces here,” Maliki told Al-Ittijah TV channel in an interview to be broadcast later, it said. Iraqi leaders have approved negotiations with the United States on a post-2011 training mission, but no deal has yet been announced. However, an extension of the US military presence in Iraq has been strongly opposed by some, notably by radical anti-US cleric Moqtada al-Sadr who has warned of “war” if American forces stay. Unless Baghdad and Washington reach a new accord, all of the roughly 46,000 US troops still in the country must leave by December 31, under the terms of a 2008 security agreement. ^theStig
no it means iraq and our investment is in deep sh$t. sadr has a large army and has his people in all departments of the government. everyone else including iraqs military is incompatent. the onlything in his way, is US firepower. that is why he wants us out, we are the onlytthing standing in the way of sadrs vision of iraq. Sanssouci
Iraq is essentially out of Chapter 7 already. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-12004115 Sanctions which require 5% of Iraq's oil and natural gas revenue to be paid to Kuwait as reparations for Saddam Hussein's invasion are the only kind remaining in effect. What effect this status might have upon a revaluation is a matter for debate. My opinion is that it provides an incentive for revaluation. 2
