He pointed to the formation of a ministerial committee to protect the funds of Iraq at some point after the session of this June, indicating the accuracy of the work of this committee, which made its utmost to find ways to protect the funds of Iraq from prosecution in the next phase. He pointed out that Security Council resolution No. 1956 in 12/15/2010, which allowed the extension of protection to UN funds Iraq for an additional six months ending on the thirtieth of the current month is after the lifting of immunity from the funds of the Republic of Iraq.

We laugh, but actually, its not too far off base, seems lots of money gets lost....and "Whooopppssssss...so sorlly, we don't have any money, so we are going to cut a vital program now".

Is this not the first article stating that thry are preparing to entrr this phase? I belive othets always stated that they would ask for an extension and that is what makes me think it wont be extended

As I understand it, the protection provided by the US will only be protecting the funds from internal GOI improper use, theft from ministers, etc. I don't believe this will offer any 'legal' protection of the funds from litigation, i.e., countries who haven't been paid reparations, etc.
