“His success depends on the region’s commitment.” Al-Tamimi: Baghdad’s decision to lend money to Erbil is legal

Yesterday, 20:10upload_1695655560_1685083674.jpg

Al-Ghad Press/Exclusive

Today, Monday, legal expert Ali Al-Tamimi considered the Council of Ministers’ decision to lend the Erbil government 2 trillion and 100 billion dinars a legally sound decision, indicating that these amounts are loans that the region is obligated to repay by sending 400 thousand barrels per day to the federal government within three months .

Al-Tamimi said in an interview with Al-Ghad Press, “The Council of Ministers’ decision to send 700 billion dinars over a period of 3 months to the Kurdistan region, from a legal standpoint, is a loan and not a payment of salaries. ”

He added, "The region's borrowing from the federal government does not violate Federal Court Decision No. 170. Rather, it is a loan, and its success depends on the Kurdistan region's commitment to sending 400,000 barrels per day to the federal government within three months. "

He continued, "The amounts sent from the federal government will be subject to scrutiny in terms of disbursement by the Kurdistan Region Financial Supervision Bureau in cooperation with the Federal Financial Supervision Bureau," pointing out that "the federal government dealt in accordance with the constitutional principles by lending to the Erbil government. "

Last week, the Council of Ministers voted to lend the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government an amount of two trillion and one hundred billion dinars for the current fiscal year, to be paid in three equal installments of (700) billion dinars for each installment, starting in September.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq announced that Rafidain Bank had deposited a financial sum of 250 billion dinars into its account to finance the salaries of employees and workers in the public sector in the region.
