The Independent / The billionaire founder of Microsoft Corporation, Bill Gates, revealed in a press interview his expectations regarding the end of the Covid-19 epidemic, which caused the death of six million and 235,027 people around the world.

And Bill Gates said in an interview with “CNBC”, on Friday, that the risks of infection with “Covid-19” have decreased significantly, pointing to the possibility of the emergence of a new epidemic of a virus different from Corona.

Gates added: "Advances in medical technology will enable the world to combat the next epidemic, if investment and preparation for its response are made from now."

He continued, "There will be another pandemic, and the pathogen will be different next time."

Gates explained that two years after the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, its worst effects had faded with large numbers of the world's population gaining a certain level of immunity, in addition to its severity also diminishing with the latest "Omicron" variable.

He pointed out that "it is already too late to reach the World Health Organization's goal of vaccinating 70 percent of the world's population by mid-2022, as 61.9 percent of the world's population has received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine."

He called for the need for the world to move faster in the future to develop and distribute vaccines, calling on governments to pump more investments in this field.

Gates concluded his speech by saying: “The cost of preparing for the next pandemic is not great. If we are rational, we will be able to contain the effects of that epidemic in a short time.”

Gates, through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, partnered with the Wellcome Trust in the United Kingdom to donate $300 million to support pandemic preparedness innovations, which helped shape the Kovacs program to deliver vaccines to low- and middle-income countries.
