The Parliamentary Energy Committee clarified that the frequent targeting of energy towers is a dangerous message by some parties that the security situation in the country is unstable.
Committee member Ghaleb Muhammad Ali said in an interview with Al-Sabah: "The targeting of towers is related to the security situation, as targeting electricity is linked to the elections in order to convey a message that the situation is unstable and that Iraq, which cannot provide protection for the electricity networks, cannot protect Elections and ballot boxes,” noting that “the problem lies in some parties that do not want to be safe.”
He added that "reducing the import of gas from Iran is possible, especially with an energy crisis they have, and this matter must be resolved by benefiting from natural gas or the situation remains as it is," explaining "the need to give electricity to solid companies for all their stages and with long-term loans, especially The loans are for oil, otherwise the electricity will not improve."
Regarding the Gulf link, Ali stated that "this link is not useful and not a solution because it will be like the Iranian link, one day there is electricity and another day there is no, but the solution is for Iraq to have its own stations, especially since it has oil and gas and a huge reserve of money and gold. It will not be difficult to bring Solid energy production companies.

The media of the General Company for the Transmission of Northern Electricity stated in a statement seen by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "it seems that the series of targeting transmission lines and blowing up electricity towers is expanding dramatically, as sabotage gangs deliberately cut the connections and connections of the northern region lines with the aim of isolating them from the national system." .

He added: "Where the 400 kV Kirkuk-Bayji conveyor line was subjected to sabotage by detonating explosive devices, which caused the fall of (7) towers, numbered (122-125-126-127-128-129-130), causing damage, cutting wires, and exiting. The line is about the service, the line is specifically in the Riyadh district in the Kirkuk governorate.”

The statement indicated that "it was one of his plans to complete the five towers that were recently vandalized in the Shirqat area on the same line today and to return it to full operation today, after it was previously temporarily connected to the Baiji Autotransformer with a voltage of 400 kV, and as usual, our heroic angels rushed and since The first light, and with direct follow-up from the Director General, Engineer Khaled Ghazai, from the Mujahideen of the lines, the Kirkuk Electricity Network branch, and in cooperation with the security forces and the engineering effort, to the location of the exhibitor and began work on reconstructing the damaged tower, repairing the cuts, rewiring the line and returning it to service as soon as possible, God willing.

Sabotage of 27 electricity towers in a week.. Iraq complains of the “dirty war”

Sabotage of 27 electricity towers in a week.. Iraq complains of the “dirty war”

In what appears to be a relentless war, especially against networks, production lines and electric power transmission, in the northern governorates of Iraq, the General Company for Northern Electricity Transmission announced Tuesday, in a statement, the occurrence of new sabotage attacks.

The company said, in a statement, that the series of targeting transmission lines and detonating electricity towers is expanding significantly, as sabotage gangs deliberately cut off the connections and connections of the northern region lines with the aim of isolating them from the national system.

The statement indicated that the transmission line, “Kirkuk-Bayji”, was subjected to sabotage by detonating explosive devices, which caused the fall of 7 towers, damages and cutting wires.

Regarding this open sabotage war against electric power installations and transmissions in Iraq, writer and political analyst, Ali Al-Baydar, says in an interview with "Sky News Arabia", that it is a real war.

dirty war

He explained that this war seeks to destroy the already devastating electrical reality in Iraq, and through this it aims to strike all facilities and aspects of life and production in the country, because electricity is a vital and pivotal nerve, and its drain is a drain on all sectors of basic services.

Al-Baydar continues, “What is noticeable in this war of dirty towers is the deliberate focus on the northern governorates such as Nineveh, Diyala, Kirkuk and Salah al-Din, areas that have always suffered from neglect and prejudice, and were stricken by the fire of terrorism and were the arena of its first confrontation, as you know, and in light of all this comes this organized targeting of energy. Electricity in the north of the country, to make the situation in those governorates more turbulent and tense, a targeting that undoubtedly carries sectarian connotations.”

And he added, “The biggest goal of these operations, on the multiplicity of the implementing parties, is to charge the street against the government of Mustafa Al-Kazemi, which the groups standing behind these attacks see as impeding their movement and agendas, so they seek, through these acts of sabotage, to increase popular resentment against Al-Kazemi to weaken him, and enable Those parties are the undisputed masters of the scene.”

undermining the government

A source close to the government said, in a statement to "Sky News Arabia", that "the goal of these successive attacks on the electrical sector is clear, which is to destabilize the government's image in the eyes of the people, obstruct its reform efforts and bear the burden of accumulated failure, especially at the level of services, for which it bears responsibility. Primarily, the parties that have rotated and shared power among themselves over the past years.”

Meanwhile, the northern electric power transmission system, in the governorates of Nineveh, Kirkuk and Salah al-Din, was subjected within one week to a large number of sabotage acts and direct targeting of electric power transmission towers, as the number of detonated towers reached 27, which led to the suspension of many supply lines. Nutrition, poor processing and stability of electric power for the northern region.

Over the past decades, Iraq has been suffering from a severe deficit in the provision of electrical energy, especially during the summer and winter seasons, when consumption and demand for it increase, to the extent that the times of supplying citizens with it is reduced to very few hours during the day.

According to experts in the energy sectors, Iraq needs at least twice its current production of less than 20 thousand megawatts of electricity, to solve the problem of severe electric power shortage.

According to the estimates of the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity, the ceiling of electric power production must be raised at least to about 30,000 megawatts, so that Iraq can secure electricity throughout the day.

The Minister of Electricity confirmed to the agency, "The desire to connect through Arar - Yusufiya, according to a specialized technical study, with the progress of the strategic connection to the Yusufiyah station."
The meeting also dealt with the energy purchase mechanism and its rationale, as the Iraqi side indicated that it does not object to purchasing energy at all times of pregnancy to achieve the reliability and stability of the network, according to the principle of paying energy wages according to the payment system, provided that the total prices include the price of the cost of constructing the lines, with the exchange of agreements and studies. Technical specifications for the maturation of the project in terms of cost, economic and commercial feasibility and technical specifications.
At a time when the Iraqi side expressed the desire to establish an investment authority to finance the link as in the Gulf link, the Saudi side made it clear that it is working on developing the project and all the joint strategic projects between the two countries through offering to establish an investor board that will supervise and finance these projects, and there will be facilities Specific to bypass obstacles that would delay implementation.

Economy News - Baghdad

The spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity, Ahmed Al-Abadi, revealed his ministry’s intention to approach Qatar, Turkey, Algeria and Azerbaijan to obtain gas to operate electric power production plants, after the fluctuation of quantities imported from Iran during the past years.

Al-Abadi said, in a statement reported by the official "Al-Sabah" newspaper and seen by "Al-Iqtisad News", that the electric power production plants in Iraq operate with 5 types of fuel.

He added that the general trend of the Ministries of Electricity and Oil and the Ministerial Energy Council is not to rely on a single gas source to ensure the flow of gas supplies towards Iraq and the absence of fluctuation in supplies.

He explained that the Ministry of Electricity "stands at the same distance from the companies specialized in supplying gas to Iraq, and there is no reservation towards any company provided that it matches the required prices and specifications."

Al-Abadi added that the Ministerial Energy Council and the Ministry of Electricity are seeking to complete electrical interconnection projects with the Gulf states, Jordan and Egypt and implement solar energy projects to solve the electricity production crisis in the country.

On Tuesday, Iran reduced the quantities of gas supplied to Iraq to operate electricity production plants in the center and south of the country, causing a loss of 2500 megawatts of the total energy produced and imported in the country, which exceeds 20 thousand megawatts.

The former Minister of Electricity, Louay Al-Khatib

Economy News - Baghdad

The former Minister of Electricity, Louay Al-Khatib, called on the government to cancel the electricity subsidy, which amounts to 12 billion dollars annually.

Al-Khatib said in an appeal he made via his Twitter account under the title "To everyone who is concerned about electricity in Iraq" :

1 - The national grid crisis cannot be solved technically if it is not solved economically

2 - the abolition of subsidies , which cost the state $ 12 billion annually lies in the global price tariff adjustment for the cost of fuel and processing

3 - privatization of the sectors of production and distribution

4- Lifting abuses by force of law

5 - electricity like the rest of the goods must pay their dues for those who want to enjoy it and not equipped free service is obligatory, and does not assume political posturing

6- The process of reforming the energy sector in Iraq (petroleum and electricity) needs

5-10 years of technical development and economic reform under a competent leadership without political interference and media ignorance.

7- The media, analyst and politician who talks about the energy sector outside his specialty and spreads false information with the aim of misleading and ignoring society is no less terrorist than the extremists who blow themselves up in the markets

8- During 18 years, the energy sector (oil and electricity) has rotated 18 ministers due to quotas. This is a farce that has contributed to instability

9 - Far from conspiracy theories, the energy crisis in Iraq is more local than external. Those who demand the continuation of government dominance in its operation and financing by budgets are the most financially and politically beneficiary because the investments are free of commissions.

10- The role of the government is organizational, policy-maker, and tax collector for the treasury, not operational

In conclusion: Stay away from ignorant postulates and prejudices, America and Iran, and look for the beneficiary of energy remaining under government hegemony in terms of funding and operation! And as an explanation for those who demand 24-hour preparation before paying the cost of electricity, I say: There is no such context in the world, but you have to pay the dues for the equipment you receive.

For the citizen, who is the first target of this war."

He stressed, "The attacks continue despite the presence of protection, intelligence efforts, military and security units, and coordination with tribal sheikhs and dignitaries. It is used to break bottlenecks, not to compensate for sabotage damages.

89%".
Al-Abadi stressed that "the completion of the work of the units will contribute to the stability of the station, increase its production, benefit from wasted energy from fuel and burning gases from gas units and reduce environmental pollution, and it is hoped that the work will be completed on time and link the units to the national grid system soon."
