It clearly says 18.980. not 18,980. I did read it and i know what it says.

Then why would the number have the EXACT same digits? Show me where an RV ever kept the exact same digits and just shifted them over. You will find here that this is how they display 18,980. It has NOT RV'd. Can find it no where else.

GREAT SPOTTING.!!!!

I agree, the Central Bank of VN (Merged with State Bank in 1976) definitely is showing 1USD = 18.544 VND

HOWEVER the English version of the same page is showing 1USD = 18,544 VND

It may be possible that they have not yet updated all language sites OR someone has made an error with a "dot" instead of a comma.

It IS very possible that they have re-valued by removing 4 zeros - as Iraq has been saying that they would do (remove 3 zeros) which is a common way to RV.

Lets cross our fingers and pray they have not made a mistake.

These are screen captures (both expended) of each language page from the site.

From what I can gather from other sites it hasn't yet.. Something to do with how they do there commas and points etc. Ya know I think we all could do a better job in communicating without the other feeling like they are in an argument or something like that.. Relax people, It isn't so much what you say but how you say it.. Use a little bit of kindness, it goes a long way. B)

Here's a response on the DDT website to the original posting of the email information:

It regards the difference in the "," and the "." in Viet Nam sites. The original site in Viiet Namese

used a decimal "." however, when you used the "English" link, it reflected a comma "," appropriately.

Just some useful information, I hope...! I'm afraid there's actually no real value change.

I think this is a very common mistake where people aren’t aware that in Vietnam, they use a “.” Instead of a “,”. Nothing to see here people but thanks for the flutter of excitement LOL

Another one

Currency Exchange Rates

VND 1.00 = US$ 0.05 £ 0.03 C$ 0.05 A$ 0.06 R 0.38 € 0.04 NZ$ 0.07

http://www.wordtravels.com/Travelguide/Countries/Vietnam/Currency

This one does cause a bit of confusion, because it does reflect an RV, however, it is a "travel" site and cannot be verified from any other site.

All the Xe, forex, oanda, and others - STILL reflect the currency as 19,000+/- per dollar. So, until there is some concrete verification, I believe we don't actually have a VND RV... Sorry...! JMHO...!
