U.S. companies are already sending employees over there. Bottom line is it is a high risk investment and the reality is so is the stock market. Kuwait managed to do it with their currency and I expect that Iraq will do the same. They really don't have much of a choice. I know they are not Kuwait but they are very competitive people. What makes you think that Buffett isn't invested? You don't expect them to come out and tell everyone do you??? Please do you honestly think that the movers are going to let you know their hand? Anyway, my suggestion is to sell your Dinar, take your loss and get out of this investment. Why wait it out if you don't believe that it will ever happen.

I'm right there with you as far as being confused . Now I'm hearing something different so I think all of us will have to see what happens on Monday. Hopefully we'll know something then.. Purhaps even an RV.. I sure do hope so anyway...

Thank you for the post very very interesting. I have heard so much different information in regards to this but if anyone can answer this question I'd appreciate it. I've heard that the capital gains tax for the cash in is "short-term" gains period, doesn't matter when you bought it. I've also heard that the healthcare bill contains a huge increase anywhere from 40-52%. Now this is something I've heard but can't find it to be factual. So does anyone have facts about this large increase? If true when will it go into effect? If not true, does anyone know what the min-max percentage will be for this gain? My husband is in Afghanistan and I'm trying to pass this information on to him the best I can. Thank you in advance for your help.

From what I can gather from other sites it hasn't yet.. Something to do with how they do there commas and points etc. Ya know I think we all could do a better job in communicating without the other feeling like they are in an argument or something like that.. Relax people, It isn't so much what you say but how you say it.. Use a little bit of kindness, it goes a long way.

I respectfully disagree.. There are a lot of just regular bank employees that will know at least a little of what is going on. Either by direct or indirect contact with information.. I use to work at a bank for many many years and know that fact first hand. So I say thanks for the information and I hope the person is correct.

I'm the newbe here but I can tell you this much... Banks know long before everyone else finds out.. I use to work for a large bank many years ago in the trust department.. When Black Monday hit we were not surprised as a matter of fact we knew about it a week before.. Same thing when the bank went belly up.. So when I hear about bankers talking it leads me more to believe that this just might happen soon... Banks have to be able to get prepared for something like this sooo... Lets all try to be positive.. Just my thoughts! It surely couldn't hurt.

I realize that you must trust your financial advisor but merely picking someone from your church well lets just say you need to make sure they have the cred. too and an excellent track record, food for thought just because they go to "church" doesn't mean they can be trusted, as sad as that is to say!

Ya know I've spoke to friends/family about this and my friends for the most part are on board but my family well lets just say you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink it. I told them all "well you'll never be able to say I didn't tell ya" I see how Iraq was and how it is right now.. My husband was over there for a year so he filled me in.. I think this country is on its way. There will be bumps in the road but thats okay. Just need the faith of a mustard seed!

I do know from working at a bank in the past the bank employees pretty much know what is getting ready to happen.. i.e.Black Monday I knew about that about a week before it happened, Bank failure about a month etc. So when I see posts that reference somthing a bank employee said well it gets me really wondering.. If that were the case then this would never happen... The global problems it seems will always be there or lurking.. So I don't think Iraq will hold up in what is the best interest for their country because of problems around the world.
