I still fail to understand how there can be so much excitement about the head of the CBI confirming that a redenomination is about to take place. Yet reply after reply all giddy about this "great" news. WOW!!!!! Shabibi clearly says in this article that they are ready for redenomination and that the counterfeiting issue is way over exaggerated and does not hamper his efforts to RD. I can understand the whole smoke and mirrors nonsense argument but to read this article and somehow see it as good news is unbelievable. I am not telling the mods or Adam how to conduct their business but in my opinion it would be a good idea to go ahead and bring all articles that reference removal, raise, or deleting zeros straight over here so that they can be debated in the proper place.

on a daily basis and are purchased by the government and private banks and is subject to constant monitoring and supervision by the Central Bank of Iraq.

On the other hand denied Shabibi the existence of any negative economic impact on the spread of counterfeit currency in the local market in Iraq,

noting that the issue of counterfeiting, was given a size bigger than true to size, explaining that the process of fraud are almost non-existent in the

This "interpretation" shouldnt even still be up for debate. How much clearer can it get? Remove zeros means redenomination. Period. Will not improve purchasing power, 25,000 note becomes 25 note, reference Turkey and Brazil over and over, reduces money supply from trilllions to billions, actually use the word redenomination. I mean do we really have to keep wondering what they are talking about or can we please move on and all come to terms with what removing zeros means? I dont know if people understand what is being said and just want to post "positive" replys or if they are completely misinformed to what removal of zeros means, or jsut simply dont have any idea what is going on. Really? For a country scared of speculation of their currency they sure have sold alot of it over the years. Maybe you missed the recent article about Dinar banker raking in millions a month. Lets do the math there. Iraq could care less about currency speculation because they are filling their foreign reserves by selling large amounts of dinar around the world. If Dinar Banker is making millions a month and that is only one dealer then what about all the other dealers around the world? This has been going on for years and its no wonder there is 30 trillion outside banks.

You know, the one with the leader of the CBI saying how they are getting ready to redenominate.The same thing he has been saying for over a year. You are correct, I dont know what will happen but you have to admitt it doesnt look very good at this point. Now you can use the smoke or dont believe everything you read argument if you want but please bring something to back up that conspiracy. Why would the CBI lie about a RD? To keep specualtion down? Well Boon, after skimming through the document I have to assume that your post was meant to say that all the speculation of a RV is unfounded because there is absolutely nothing in that document that would even hint towards a RV. As a matter of fact the writers of the "plan" recommend that Iraq pegs its currency to the USD or the Euro which it is.

I have to thank you for bringing this document to my attention. It is an absolute treasure trove of information regarding the planning of the aftermath of the removal of Sadam. I never really gave the US Gov that much credit for thinking ahead but it seems they crossed most Ts and dotted most Is prior to going in and you are correct, the US has made good on the majority of this plan to keep Iraq on a road to prosperity instead of allowing it to simply crumble as a result of the invasion. It amazes me that so many bashed Bush and the US for that action but I still believe it was the right thing to do and the world is much better off without that tyrant around. Many disagree and will be Bush haters for life but O well.

Maybe there is something I missed that hints towards a massive RV and if so someone please point out where so we can discuss it.

What I fail to understand is why you are here. If you really believed what you preached you would have sold out a long time ago and made investments elsewhere. By hanging on to your dinar, it says to me that you aren't truly committed to your beliefs. That in the back of your mind you still think you may be wrong and don't want to lose out if the money hits big and you made a huge mistake. I think the saying is called covering your ass. In the meantime, the money we invested isn't costing you a penny so why do you care if we believe you or not. You choose the articles you do because they corroborate your belief. On the flip side there are just as many stating something different. The difference between lopsters and the rest of us is this. It is kind of like the person that openly says I think the Patriots will win the Super Bowl but secretly want the Giants. When the Giants when they are all happy and will gladly accept they chose wrong. But if the Patriots(lopsters) win, they can say I told you so.
