  4. UPDATE 1-U.S. imposes sanctions against Iran central bank governor, Iraq-based bank WASHINGTON, May 15 (Reuters) - The United States on Tuesday imposed sanctions on Iran’s central bank governor, Valiollah Seif, and Iraq-based Al-Bilad Islamic Bank for “moving millions of dollars” for Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guard Corps, as Washington seeks to cut off funding for what it says is Iran’s malign activities in the Middle East. U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said Seif covertly funneled millions of dollars on behalf of the IRGC through Al-Bilad bank “to enrich and support the violent and radical agenda of Hezbollah.” The United States classifies Lebanon’s Shi’ite Muslim movement Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran, as a terrorist group. “It is appalling, but not surprising, that Iran’s senior-most banking official would conspire with the IRGC-QF to facilitate funding of terror groups like Hezbollah, and it undermines any credibility he could claim in protecting the integrity of the institution as a central bank governor,” Mnuchin said in a statement. The U.S. Treasury also blacklisted Ali Tarzali, assistant director of the international department of Iran’s central bank, and the chairman of Al-Bilad Islamic Bank, Aras Habib. The department said the sanctions against Seif and Tarzali would not immediately affect central bank transactions. It said, however, sanctions being reimposed under the nuclear deal would affect certain U.S. dollar transactions by the central bank starting on Aug. 7, 2018. Last week, two days after U.S. President Donald Trump withdrew from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, the U.S. Treasury imposed sanctions against six individuals and three companies it said were funneling millions of dollars to the IRGC-QF. The IRGC is by far Iran’s most powerful security entity and has control over large stakes in Iran’s economy and huge influence in its political system. The Quds Force is an elite unit in charge of the IRGC’ overseas operations. https://af.reuters.com/article/africaTech/idAFL2N1SM17A
  5. Eid al Fitr 2018 will be celebrated on Friday, 15th of June 2018. This is the tentative date as the actual date is contingent on the sighting of the moon of Shawwal, the 10th month in the Islamic calendar. Eid ul Fitr is celebrated on the 1st of Shawwal, after the month of Ramadan 2018. The month of Ramadan culminates with the festive occasion of Eid al Fitr as Muslims thank Allah (SWT), celebrating the festival with religious fervor. The month of Ramadan is full of celebration and festivity as the Muslims immerse themselves in reading the Quran and Duas and spending maximum time doing Dhikr. The Muslims fast the whole month as it teaches them the true meaning of perseverance and tolerance while being empathetic towards the poor and needy. At the end of the month, the Muslims are rewarded with the festival of Eid al Fitr. It is important to note that it is forbidden to fast on the day of Eid. Each country’s celebrations vary as there is an influence of thei to their traditions. Muslims all over the world celebrate the festival of Eid al Fitr by starting the day with the Eid prayer. After the Eid prayers, people greet each other with the customary Eid greeting, Eid Mubarak with a formal embrace, three times. The day is spent with friends and family as they get together indulging in eating and handing out Eidi (gifts given to kids on Eid). Everyone gets new clothes made for the special occasion as every single person wants to look his/her best. The festival revolves around the theme of togetherness and happiness. In essence, Muslims celebrate the blessings bestowed upon them by Allah (SWT). on the day of Eid. Each country’s celebrations vary as there is an influence of thei to their traditions. 10. so just to recap this criminal ran for office and promised he would keep the terrorist acts that he controls to a minimum on election day ... wow what a thoughtful caring and misunderstood man he is ................................ NOT 9:42 a.m. Maliki promises 'no terrorist acts' on election day Former Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki led Iraq as ISIS formed and threatened to overrun the entire country. “The Americans were just being too cautious otherwise ISIS or terrorists do not possess such powers. They heard threats from Baathists and terrorists who said they’d strike the polling stations, but they’re too weak to do such a thing,” Maliki said on election day. The head of the Dawa Party promised Iraqis safety on voting day. “We once held elections and Baghdad wasn’t even under our control and the situation now is different. The threats were meant to have a negative effect, but I reassure all peoples that there’ll be no terrorist acts,” said Maliki. Maliki, who heads the powerful State of Law Coalition and is currently one of Iraq’s three vice presidents, sees the constitution as the guide for resolving outstanding issues between the federal and regional governments. “Relations between Baghdad and Erbil are heading towards solving the disputes and for the first time in the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad there’s talk of solving the outstanding issues through the constitution and because we’ve agreed to return and rely on the constitution then there hopefully will remain no disputes,” said Maliki.
