  1. The day I say something nice about the Zero in charge will be the day ... awww never gonna happin' will never say a nice word about the Zero in charge.
  2. Aren't customers awarded at 5, 10, 25 50 and 100k marks? Geez if ya did that for 40K posts how in the world are you ever gonna top it? Keep going Yota 10K more to go cause I want to see what happens at the 50K mark! Keep up the good work! Waterboy voice... You caaan dooo eeeet! <insert mental image of the guy saying it here> (sorry too lazy to find a pic from the waterboy movie atm)
  3. They are okay with the status quo because they are getting rich off the status quo. Once they stop making money at 1166/1 then something will happen. If as some have projected that they want to be on par with the dollar, then the 25K note makes no sense. All of the major currencies are in denominations of (but not limited to) 10's 20's 50's and 100's. (Yes some have 500;s.) So if Iraq wants to be on par, then they would need to match these denominations by getting rid of the 25K notes and introducing the 100K and 20K notes. Then when they do the thing that shall not be mentioned outside of the name that shall be mentioned forum then they will be on par with the rest of the world's denominations. Note: Don't want to get into trouble by mentioning Lopping the zeros off outside the Lopster forum. DOH!
  4. I have a money market account with Ally bank. I tried to open a separate checking account with them. They asked for that info because of the laws passed due to money laundering shortly after 9-11. Never reply to an email or click on a link in an email when personal information is asked for. Always initiate the contact with the bank through the use of their number found on their website. This way you will always know that you 1) are at their official website and 2) it is actually their number. Going into a brick and mortar bank is always the first option before calling. Unless it is a bank like Ally and an internet based bank. There is nothing wrong with internet based banks. I have dealt with them since early 2000. Always do your homework and research the bank thoroughly before opening an account.
  5. Oh! Oh! I have a bank story. I went into my local branch here and spoke with someone about opening an account for my upcoming trip to Cartagena. I was introduced to a nice looking red head who we struck up a conversation with. Once I got to know her name things progressed and we talked in depth about travelling. I wanted to get her number for my use later and she gave me her business card. She then told me she was engaged. I left the bank thinking I am such a sucker for red headed women. True story.
  6. In wars up to the Vietnam war and a few after we have always known who the enemy is because like our soldiers the enemy wore uniforms. Upon the advent of the Afghanistan war with Russia, the fighters against Russian uniformed soldiers wore everyday street clothes. It made the job harder who was to be determined civilian and who was the terrorist. Since then the terrorists have adopted this philosophy to blend in with the civilian population and create confusion on who was who. In the last Isreali conflict, civilian casualties were based on those individuals wearing civilian clothing. All the Hamas government had to do is show that a certain dead individual had no gun and wore civilian clothing at the time of death to be civilian. Usually the guns were removed to be used by other terrorists. Thus the number of civilians killed in the conflict were bolstered by the terrorists because the death of civilians has garnered sympathy time and time again. Using the civilian sympathy ploy in an armed conflict is akin to using "for the children" ploy in politics. This put pressure on Isreal because spineless liberal american apologetics believe the terrorists over the good guys as to how many civilians died. This was also successful in Gulf War 2 especially in Ramadi and Fallujah when the terrorists used civilians as human shields and tied our soldiers hands when it came to the rules of engagement. The recent conquering of Crimea and current conflict in the Ukraine was done the same way. Soldiers not in uniform attacking soldiers in uniform. As always the terrorists are counted among the civilians because they do not wear uniforms. So when our pilots cannot drop bombs onto the scumbags it is because they cannot discern between friend and foe due to the fact the foe looks like the friend. Another reason has to due with rules of engagement and how closely these fighters are intertwined amongst the civilian population. Not wanting to be the cause of civilian deaths our pilots rather hold onto their munitions instead of bring holy hell fire down upon them. Understand now? Isis members seen in black clothing with gym shoes is only for photo ops and is not the everyday outfit. Umm if they are singlely used as a vehicle for suicide bombers they will have no black flag and they will not be in a convoy procession. I think our pilots looked for this already and came up empty.
  7. Anything above 1166, the program rate, is to be considered the street rate. Once the program rate vanishes then you will have to check the CBI as to what the rate is and compare that to the rate being discussed to find market rate. I wish they would just say we no longer honor dollars. Quit funneling dollars into the local economies convert to an all IQD system. Only allow dollars to be exchanged into IQD and any foreigners to Iraq must also change dollars to IQD at only at official currency exchanges. This would change their economy in a millisecond. As long as Iraq continues to honor dollars or any other foreign currency to Iraq then no RV will happen because after years the dollar has been firmly ensconced into the mindset of the everyday Iraqi people. They think in dollars not IQD. Change the currency save the world. Okay maybe not the world but at least Iraq.
  8. Even if you made the currency worth more, that doesn't take care of the issue of payment. Coordination deals with payment. Having the necessary funds is another issue entirely. If you don't have enough money in your checking account to cover the check you wrote, how do you honor the check. You transfer the necessary funds from another account you don't increase the value of the money you have on hand. Iraq has the necessary funds to honor the check. They did not allocate those funds to the correct account, in this case the ministirial account. This is a logistical issue due to lack of coordination to get the funds to the right place. Increasing the value will not solve this issue because even if you increased the value of the currency but don't have the amount to honor the check in the account, a dime changed to a dollar won't fix that because the value of the product also increases the same. What you are saying "just increase the value of the currency" is that magically the product's value remains the same. It doesn't. If the product cost 50 cents in today's currency and you increase the value of the currency, the product does not continue to be 50 cents. If this were the case candy bars would still be a nickel and gas would still be 15 cents a gallon.
  9. A committee was formed to review the HCL draft at the beginning of 2015 (or end of 2014). There is a whole separate draft for the HCL law that was tabled by Maliki many times. The Iraqi Oil and Gas draft can be found in English in pdf form by doing a google search. In a previous post I have even linked the draft. When (and if) you read the draft you will understand that the HCA is only a precursor to getting the HCL law passed in Iraq. It's checking off a bullet point. The HCA was to hash out the part of the HCL law that related to the Kurds and only the Kurds because the Kurds are part of Iraq but they govern themselves. Then the HCL was to be passed with the tenets of the HCA included and voila! one step closer to there being an RV. The HCA agreement is settled. Its the implementation of the settlement that is the difficult part. Saying something is not settled means the agreement was never completed when it was. The disagreement comes from the implementation of said agreement and is why there is consternation now over the HCA. Abadi himself said the agreement is done and the Kurds have said the agreement is done. They both agreed the HCA is not to change, to a point, and the HCA is to be bound by Iraqi law. Since Baghdad is not fulfilling their part of the HCA agreement, by not paying the Kurds what is owed to the Kurds, is why there is a strike on the production of oil in the largest oil producing region in Iraq at this time. Let's forget about HCL for a moment and look at this. If Baghdad cannot keep its word on paying the Kurds on an agreement set up between the two of them, how in the world do you think Baghdad would respond when it must pay its citizenry what they are owed from the proceeds of the exportation of oil? Look at it from our own governmental perspective. If Washinton can not keep its word to a particular state, do you think it would be able to keep the same agreement to its citizenry? I will answer for you, no and no.
  10. This is why people who claim the HCA is the HCL are confused. Because eventually the proceeds of the sales of oil from the Kurdish region will go towards the benefit of all Iraqis. However the HCA deals with only the part of the proceeds to be given to the semi-autonomous Kurdish government. Nothing more and nothing less.
  11. Okay the HCA was an agreement between the federal government of Iraq and ONE of its states. The HCL is an agreement between the federal government and ALL of its states. See the difference yet? Everyone who thinks the HCA is the HCL has this confused, the HCA is not the HCL and never will be. It will be part of the HCL only when referring to the Kurdish state. Let's try to put this into perspective. Here is an example Let's say Washington made an agreement to do such-and-such for all 50 states and North Dakota happened to be a special circumstance. Now the United States has several regions, the Midwest, East Coast, West Coast and the South. North Dakota let's say controlled the Midwest with its own government but remained as a member to the United States. So now Washington has to treat them with kid gloves. Now Washington comes to an agreement with North Dakota and that region but the entire such and such deal is not for the entire United States it only pertains to North Dakota's region. The other three regions of the United States do not get any benefit from the deal Washington made with North Dakota because Washington has not got to them yet. When Washington eventually gets around to the other 3 regions, it will include the special deal it made with North Dakota but not until there is a deal for all the regions of the United States. People who see the HCA are seeing it for all of Iraq when its not it only pertains to Kurdish region, to this point, and not to all of the other regions of Iraq. When all of the oil producing regions of Iraq have reached a deal then that deal will benefit every single citizen of Iraq. This deal is called the HCL or Iraqi's Oil and Gas Law. The HCA is not, never has been nor will it ever be the HCL. Why? Because when one claims the HCA is the HCL, that all of the oil produced in the Kurdish region will benefit all of Iraqis and the benefits of other regions that produces oil in Iraq will not go to the benefit of all Iraqi citizens. The HCL is in the current Iraqi Constitution. That particular article of the Iraqi Constitution states that oil produced in ALL regions, not the Kurdish region or a single region but ALL, of Iraq will go to benefit all citizens of Iraq. This isn't a tomato/tahmahto argument this is an apple and oranges argument. The caveat here is in the end, when the HCL becomes law and is implemented, that the oil produced in the Kurdish region will play a part in the overall benefit of all the Iraqi citizens. The HCA is due to the fact that the Kurdish region is semi autonomous but still belongs to Iraq. In order for Iraq to keep the region that is the largest producer of oil in Iraq under its auspices a deal had to be made in order for the Kurdish region's government to maintain an influx of currency in order to govern itself. And that in a nutshell is what the HCA is - to keep the largest producer of oil in Iraq in the money while the whole of Iraq will eventually benefit from said production and sales of oil. The HCL will be a law that covers all production, sales of oil and governmental functions related to the processing and exportation of oil for the entire country of Iraq including creating a permanent Iraqi Oil Ministry to oversee the red tape. The current Oil Ministry of Iraq was created a long time ago and will be recreated when the full HCL law goes into effect. There is more to the HCL than just paying its citizens money from the Sales of Oil. It deals with a whole part of the Iraqi government that has not even been formed yet which is why it is a contentious issue in Iraq. Now some will say well Iraq already has an Oil Minister and an Oil Ministry. Yes it does but if you go back, its only temporary until the HCL law is passed. In addition the current Oil Ministry was not created by Sadam but it still runs under the rules Sadam created. So there is more to the HCL than the sale of oil but that is what most people associate the HCL with.
  12. You are confusing the HCA with the HCL. The Kurdish agreement has nothing to do with the HCL other than reiterate that the oil processed in the Kurdish region is Iraqi oil. The only thing that the HCL might possibly say is that because there is an HCA agreement with the Kurds then the HCL obligations that stipulates that EVERY citizen in Iraq benefits from the sale of Iraqi oil has been met through the HCA with the Kurds. That is the only situation in which I could possibly forsee the two even remotely correlating to each other. The agreement with the Kurds is not the HCL and the article has no bearing on this agreement with the Kurds, The agreement with the Kurds, the HCA, cannot be changed as Abadi stated numerous times. I do remember reading that sometime during the period between Christmas and right before the New Year or just after the New Year an HCL committee was formed. I have searched for this article which appeared here on the DV but have not been able to locate it.
  13. I have been saying this exact thing since the HCA was approved almost a year ago. When the budget came and everyone said the HCL was in the budget, I again said "NO. what they are referring to is the HCA". Countless times I have reiterated this position that the HCL was never passed. This is because there are other regions besides the Kurdish region that produces oil. The HCA only deals with the Kurdish region and their exportation of Oil. The Kurds are semi-autonomous and such a deal was brokered saying that the Kurdish oil belongs to Iraq and the Kurds could keep some proceeds for exporting the oil. The HCL, according to the Iraqi Constitution (I used to know where and which article this referred) stipulates that EVERY citizen of Iraq benefit from the sales of Iraqi oil. Since the HCA only deals with the Kurds, this does not meet constitutional validity and therefore cannot be the HCL. This has been my premise all along as to why the HCL has not been made into law at this time. There were drafts created and those drafts were modified into new versions of the original draft but as it stands now, Iraq's Oil industry as it is organized today, will not be the same when the HCL law is finally passed. Its kind of like a position that is necessary but hasn't been filled officially, we would call this an acting positing for example acting vice president of such and such company until the official vice president is announced. Until Iraqi's Oil and Gas Law is official, there will be no RV even though a RV does not need to have the Oil and Gas Law to be passed. They are referring to the previous drafts of the Oil and Gas Law of 2010 and subsequent versions put forth when Maliki ran things. No part of this draft in its revised or modified version has been passed since Malaki has left office or while he was in office. The draft could never get it off the table because ijit in charge Malaki rather advance his pocketbook instead of advancing the country. Oh he did enough to make it seem like he was working towards advancing the nation but if it didn't advance his bank account it didn't advance the country.
  14. And if one must clean the brown spot on their drawers with a jack hammer, always wear appropriate ear and eye protection. Judy Blume comes to mind for some strange reason.
  15. Now purty please apply our RV gradually but at a faster pace than a snail on salt.
  16. I hear Mars is in need of climate change. Oh wait, the man who invented the internet and that romantic book/movie was written for has already taken a spot there. Heaven forbid he has to spell taters or termaters. Guess the old codger might have to move further away like a black hole or something. Maybe he could start a community organization on Alpha Centari or sumthing.
  17. I know many would like to believe and some will put blinders on however the sad truth is the deal between Erbil and Baghdad is NOT the HCL. There are other oil producing regions in Iraq although Erbil is the major contributor. The HCL is the Oil and Gas Law that hasn't even been out of comittee at this point. There is a draft and that has all that's been done on it that we know of. The HCL is specified in Iraqi's Constitution and the deall(s) with Erbil does not make the HCL. The HCL is for the whole of Iraq not just one region and not just for the Kurds. There are so many people on here seeing mirages in the desert itt can be hilarious at times and annoying at other times. The HCL will be passed. Will it be this year? The deal with the Kurds has to pass and be implemented in its entirety not halfway. If either party can't make their obligations then the deal gets thrown out the window because the situation is so volatile. This deal is not the Oil and Gas law for Iraq because it only covers the Kurds not every citizen of Iraq as the Iraqi constitution says it must. Back at the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015 the GOI formed an OIl and Gas law committee. There has been a few articles that has come of that. The RV is not tied to any singular event. There are still several items that must be accomplished before an RV will take place. Adam has stated those but that does not guarantee an RV will take place once they have been checked off. The RV will take place when it does. Be happy that the items get checked off but don't see gold where there is none to be had. X does not always mark the spot. Okay neg away but as Ragnar said on the Vikings, ".., and I can be a very patient man."
  18. I always find it amazing when people say this is just the internet. I have seen the internet evolve from a simple bulletin board service where it was kept on a machine in someone's home to what it is today. The problem with just saying its an internet is like going to a coffee shop and pretending to be something you are not then exclaiming to everyone that it's just a coffee shop. Behind each and every letter that is typed is a human with emotion and that emotion can be exacerbated tenfold because the emotion is internal when here. Every emotion is intensified greatly because its internally read and processed within and to almost every human I have ever had contact with internalizing things can quickly intensify things greatly. People are people whether they are here on the internet pretending this is a fantasy or whether they are in a coffee shop. One could say these are just words on a screen. Words may not hurt you but the interpretation of them can. If you think I am wrong, then experiment a little. Read something someone posted when you are in a joyful mood. Then when the world seems to be against you, read what they said again. Your mood can change the way those black words appear to you. So yeah it may only be a website, but it is an interactive website with real people and real (and sometimes raw) emotions. Or am I just typing into a nethervoid devoid of humans where the words are typed by some sort of machine in the background that when I open the website are there one day and gone the next. Man, thought this guy apologized and was put in his place. Guess the it was the apology before it wasn't. TQueezy, here is an interesting solution for you to contribute your two cents. Most of the articles are translated using a a translating software algorithm. And such the algorithm sometimes does not get he context right for the sentence. How about for every article that people do not understand you retype into a sensible article in which makes coherent sense in the English language. That way people might have a modicum of understanding when it comes to the article posted and then more apt to likely contribute to the post. There you would be contributing everyday and make the conversations more thought provoking. Hey look Abadi said something! Must be an RV! Ah nah he just told his assistant he had to pee.
  19. Hitlary wants to win at all costs because 1) it would make her the first female president and 2) it would make her the first spouse of a former president to become president. This is about her legacy and her husband's legacy. She will say whatever she needs to become president. She doesn't actually want to to do the work. No. She just wants the title. Hitlary then will take this country further down the rabbit hole following Bummer's lead and proclaim herself Queen and rule via EO. The mess these two have caused and will continue to cause will take decades if not centuries to undo.
  20. And yet as they are awarded the Purple Heart, they are denied all the benefits that comes with the recognition. For example, medical benefits. Its not a win in my book. Until they are awarded the Purple Heart and subsequent benefits, a medal is just a shiny thing at the end of a ribbon. When full benefits come with that medal then and only then can we say they have been awarded the Purple Heart. The Purple Heart is for injuries sustained during a war. It also allows the recipient to get benefits to treat those injuries after the soldier has left their tour of duty. To be awarded a Purple Heart and not receive benefits that come along with it is like saying here is your trophy for participating. The medical benefits were the reason the families were fighting to get the designation from this incident turned from "workplace violence" to an "act of terrorism". Without the medical benefits awarded to the soldiers, the medal is useless.
  21. Why does "Christian" matter in this case? You think if it were a Islamic traveling band they would proclaim it so many times in the article? me thinks not. Jesus didn't say lie down and die for your enemy. In fact he told his disciples to sell their cloaks and buy a sword.
  22. Problem is Miramar is a Naval installation even if it is run by the Marines. The Marines are under the command of the Naval Secretary and are part of Naval forces in the USA even if they are considered by many a separate branch. I know many Marines will disagree because that is pride talking but they take their orders from the Secretary of the Navy not the Secretary of the Marines. Marines, Navy Army or Air Force we are all in this together even if the CiC isn't.
  23. Every year when it begins pollinating I always laugh to myself. Here is why. I used to live in Dayton, OH and I knew many people wanting to move away because the pollen and allergies got the best of them. Where did they move? To the desert where the air is dry and there was no pollen like they had in Dayton. So they moved from Ohio to Arizona and built nice houses. They saw the browns and reds of the desert and became homesick by missing the green lush lawns and the mighty oak trees. So what did they do? They planted grasses and trees. Then the neighbors planted grasses and tress. And their neighbors and their neighbors, so forth and so on. Now? Well now they have bigger problems with allergies because when you plant grasses, flowers and trees you get everything that causes you to have those allergies you moved away from! And now Arizona is one of the worst places for allergy sufferers to move to. (At least it was when I last checked awhile back.)
