  1. During the late 50's to early 60's the Deutche Bundesbank held the Mark at a pretty constant rate compared to the fluctuations in other European Countries, which in effect made it a sort of "safe haven" currency which in turn bolstered it's value by the amount of Marks bought and sold to support other ailing currencies through their lean times.
  2. The Germans bombed Pearl Harbour? Not another re-write of the history books. rofl.
  3. September is National Preparedness Month, according to the FEMA website, which goes on to list events and locations etc. nationwide conducted with the National preparedness Community. Seems to be pretty much in line with previous events and drills. Must admit I never heard of it before (NPC) that is.
  4. Given that the "savings" were mainly accrued during 1930/1948 at a time when the worth of their paper money was inflated and you look at the street price on goods over the war period, it was a very effective strategy to reduce the value of the new currency. Would this be a viable proposition for Iraq, as I believe this might be the way you are heading with this thread, we may find out "soon" lol. Don't waste your time looking for a German RV, as you say tons to get through and it will cover up to the introduction of the Euro, which by the way did not put a time limit on an exchange of Marks to Euro.
  5. Alas this to me just highlights the change in the content of what is now taught in schools today against what was deemed as "recent history" in the early 60's, indeed my own children think that my ( to me )somewhat basic knowledge on "the war" must mean that I am old enough to have taken part or at least lived through it. So with this in mind a degree of ignorance in this subject is to be expected I suppose.
  6. How very true, teachers here in the UK are allready constricted on the teaching of our Christian religion, no Christmas Nativity play, Christmas cards should only be given to their ethnic schoolfriends with the parents consent as this could infringe on their "cultural beliefs". Lunatics and assylum comes to mind.
  7. 1930 to 1948 the German's monetary system was mainly overshadowed by the "black market" as prices and wages were quite strictly controlled by the Gov. The introduction of the "new" money from Reichsmark to Deutchmark at the exchange rate of 1 new for 10 old quit simply wiped out 90% of the Gov,t. debt but likewise reduced the value of private bank accounts by the same margin. The ammount of paper money held in private accounts had to be reduced to allow the new currency any hope of re-structuring the debt and start to build a firm monetary base. Remember the divide between the allies who controlled the East / West initially staggering the introduction of the new money within the portions that they controlled was not welcomed and caused some social reaction. I thought that it was quit simply a part of school history how Europe as a whole was burdened with the cost of re building their countries infra structure, and not only at a cost to the German population either. The silver lining to every German was obviously a 90% reduction in any debt they had on the introduction of the Deutchmark. Xet, this is from memory without the need for copy and paste, I hope this meets your exacting standards my friend.
  8. So just like we allready know, they can sit on their ass and pass as many laws and regulations as they want, because untill they get a grip of the security forces they know they are getting paid to sort out sod all... they learned how to become politicians real quick.
  9. We all start thinking "I won't get too tied up in this" but we get drawn in, you start doing things you never ever thought of doing to stay away from here... I dont drink (mutch), but I built a bar, I allready got a L.G.V. car & M/cycle.. but I bought a Harley to restore,.. and my wife says...well anyway, you get my drift. LOL
  10. I need a little enlightment here, now flatdawg posts an article by Kevin Barrett, he of the AMPAC & MAMAF, I presume, and tags on the end a question, he neither states he agrees nor disagrees, just asks a question.. and it envokes a response like this. As I say, I am just asking for a little educating on this, is it because of the content of the post, which is after all in public circulation.
  11. Perhaps this light hearted observation might prove otherwise. The "old" Route 66 is dream ride across the States that many from outside the USA save and plan for years to complete, guided tours don't all follow the old roads as much as we would like, so we buy maps and "gen. up" before starting out and save a good few bucks. No major problems to start with untill we hit Oklahoma where many dead ends and missing bridges can cause havock to your schedule (maybe guided wasn't so expensive), now the thing is when you ask someone for directions to the old route (gas station), you follow that route a few miles only to come across yet another missing bridge, so turn around again all the way back to the gas station, where you quite calmly enquire of the attendant "why send us down that route, it's a dead end"?.. and the reply is "well that's the Government for ya". It is quite an education the 66, the have and have not's of America's population, the over/under development in neighbouring States, in my humble opinion, needs dealing with because the divide is allready more than wide enough.
  12. As an outsider looking into your political structure as far as your Pres. is concerned he seems to be damned either way he turns. According to which ever side you care to listen to, he has more sides than a decahedron, he seems to be for/against muslims, coloureds, whites, rich, poor, welfare, the list seems endless. Looking back into the recent history, well since Kennedy, there was Nixon Clinton & Bush, who, to the world outside America, did make some rather weird judgments within their tenures as Pres. The world is vastly changed from even Pres. Bush, truth or lies can be heard worldwide within seconds, reputations can be ruined overnight without the accused being heard (no smoke without fire syndrome). Look I can only speak for myself here but America has, like the rest of the financial world taken some serious knocks and still has some horrendous drains upon it with upholding it's role undertaken to support freedom and fight oppression worldwide, which has to have an effect upon the disbursment of the available money within it's own boundries. Perhaps this is hitting home in Washington, perhaps the continuing ammount of money the Fed seems able to generate is finally being viewed with some concearn about the possible effect this is having on the investment in industry, housing, but mainly in reducing the jobless figures in the states. What happens in America effects every financial institution in Europe, far East, et all, maybe we don't agree that this should be the case but the fact remains that if you catch a cold we sneeze. Maybe negotiation has overtaken invasion, this doesn't mean that the leaders of other countries (Iran) will not threaten a nuclear imbalance to gain a reduction in the sanctions imposed upon it by Western nations. America plays a major role worldwide, maybe this is under some threat from other sectors for many reasons, not warlike, but trade, finance, natural resourses, International Debt, your leader has one huge job, like a one man circus, juggler, high wire, animal handler, is the job made easier with support ?, will every performance go faultlessly? critics are ten a penny and don't really contribute much, just remember how close it came to the financial ceiling being reached not so long ago and how much behind the scenes wrangling took place that perhaps tied your Presidents hands, I would seriously doubt that any Republican or Democrat since being elected could swear on the Bible that lobbying has not effected their votes and that every vote has been for the good of "the people". America has huge influence in world affairs and does influence, intentionally or unintentionally every stockmarket price worldwide daily, will this continue, and if not what would change, what if the Dollar lost it's world reserve status, how much does it cost when a few points are wiped off the Dollar, what cost a few cents? Global monetary changes might boost some countries, but will probably cause the demise of some others in financial terms, perhaps this is something that is being addressed by G8 & G20 Countries now, protectionism might be a viable option for America but global trade might allready make that impossible, we down here near the bottom of the information chain, "for our own good"could well be denied information that could lead to civil disorder, anarchy, there are in every society "extremists" that await a "cause" just watch any news channel. Critisize the politicians, support the country, be aware of the world situations.
  13. Hasn't Parliament stood back since Maliki retained control of all security, he did after all promote some rather junior officers to senior positions, without much complaint from Parliament. "and pull the legality of the security leaders, and ALL who did not attend the council" is this a shoot in the foot statement, how many times have reliable news agencys reported the house could not form a quorum ?, and following on from that, just how are so many news reports released about what was supposed to have been achieved in the house when no-one was there?
  14. To a limited degree this statement may be correct, but if we take into account the reduction in the total ammount of oil based sales, transport fuel, household heating, etc, that we currently see in Europe/UK, perhaps a realignment on price may have to be considered before a major upsurge in overall usage. Petrol prices in the UK are going up oweing to the price of Brent Crude, or so we are told, .. but what happened to the reserve capacity that we were told about that had built up oweing to the reduction in overall sales? Profiteering or bonuses to investors/ CEO's et all. Depending on how severe the approaching winter weather is, will effect the heating oil usage which we saw was down last winter, again owing to the high pricing. Transportation fuel sales were also down early in the year as a result of the severe weather conditions which closed thousands of miles of roads for weeks, electricity and gas sales up, oil down. My Ford Transit Van holds 68 litres which today costs £1.41.9p per litre =£96.50p which is $150.72c per fill up. 68 ltr. = 17 US Gal's. Travelling throughout UK prices vary from £139.9 / £151.5p per Litre transport fuel, and there is a similar variation in heating oil prices. So as you see the price asked of the customer does impact on the overall sales, which in turn impacts the quantity required to be imported. The need for profit outweighs the need of the many elderly on pensions, who now reduce their usage to heating just one room, buy foods that require less cooking, this is the same throughout the EU, so you see no matter how much oil is available, the price will dictate how much is ultimately required.
  15. Been RBS cust. for years. Bought a good bit there. Betty had a Bank exp? Coutts are ok for gold. Multiple Countries and Companies are tied into investments in Iraq, watch the real news and discount 95% of the "news" that is used here, find someone local to you that can read and speak the language and they will translate most articles without "bending" it to suit their purpose. Paper contracts are worth nothing as everythng is changed, objected to, argued about, it is soul destroying watching nothing being done.
  16. Still hopefull for the RV, but there again as you can see, I am a bit stupid.lol.
  17. Yes, it is because of my many friends that I do find the use of that picture off puting, and maybe that caused me to make an incorrect assumption if so I apologise. I like many people on DV as well, mostly those that don't lie though. MOD review should hold no fear for the person telling the truth, or is that it, I am using an inncorrect word, l**r should become, person of questionable reliability, or bending the truth, or whatever politicaly correct vernacular you choose. The defence usually makes the most money, it doesn't mean that they really believe their client. Just seen your post, no problem, I hope we can perhaps become friendly eventually. Dave.
  18. Then perhaps your mother will know my good friends there, Appassami is the family name , and when their Son came over here he became my boss so no real need for the profanity. This thread is questioning the reliability or truth of another site, my point being that there are liars on here as well, one of whome you make a point of leaping to there defence. Happy to leave it at that?
  19. Without being hurtfull, I have been on DV longer than either of you, and if you think that asking for an injustice to be corrected is trolling, added to your inability to spell Gibraltar, and the use of an avatar depicting a black and white minstrel (not really correct, why not use a gollywog and really insult our commonwealth cousins) I despair that you are in the UK. There is one other person that uses that picture on MSN??
  20. Boy oh boy, you are some piece of work. You accused me of posting on here using one name and then changing it REMEMBER I do. I challenged you to put up or shut up, even said to Email me private ( it's in my profile) but you didn't even have the guts to do that. Mistakes are part of life, but a cowardly refusal to admit that you had, in my case, in fact made a mistake must lead to the assumption that you do indeed make a habit of making false accusations on a regular basis. Perhaps your agenda is to see how long it takes for the DV family to realise that you are indeed a "compulsive liar without a backbone" and that will remain my perception of you untill you "grow a pair", "man up" or whatever terminology you understand. To the Mod's , you may look upon this as an unwarranted attack upon another DV member, but Bump will remember that I did ask easyrider "pleasantly" to prove his accusation, and received no reply, I also asked if the IP addresses could be checked on the other identity that I was supposed to have used without any reply, so like the RV, I will wait & wait, and maybe this time get a reply (sorry going to use the dreaded word) SOON. lol Hold the minus untill his defense comes back, then decide.
  21. Ron, not locking horns here but would there be any use in anyone trying to provide "proof" by the use of News Agency articles when so many have been... well rubbish really. CBI imo, have so far done next to nothing except blow hot air about what they are going to do, but then clock off for the day and next morning get straight into going in totally the opposit direction. Have we ever got a answer to the actual question on what the Daily Auctions really are? Shortage of Dinar, shortage of Dollars, which has been proven correct, proof of anything to do with Iraq seems to be pretty fluid. Like I said just an observation, not a "red flag" (to a bull). Cheers.
  22. Irrespective of which of you are ultimately proven right, could I please highlight this point. Yota a member for 725 days, with 17,622 posts,.. nearly 25 per day. I was raised to try and uphold my grandfathers old saying, "Its nice to be nice", unfortunately it seems that the higher the number of posts that some of the members have on here now , 1,000s?, the less likely we are to be able to rationaly discuss quit simple subjects without resorting to keyboard warrior attitude / mild profanity. Agree to disagree and maintain the regard that is deserved to you both, Yota for his bringing forth of so many articles, and Keep for his belief and willingness to share his belief about the Dinar, Easy or not.
  23. Old Ben at the FED has got to keep the figures sweet so that he gets his big pension before the Country goes bankrupt. Simples.
  24. Syrian Prime Minister ? .. Got to try some of that "real" Russian vodka soon.
  25. I was surprised to receive an Email from Dan after one debate, in which he addressed a point we had disagreed on, even more so that he had researched further into the contended question and conceded that where he had written with certainty initially, perhaps indeed my interpretation had some merit and thanked me for stating it. Though only half my age I am proud to say that I respected his opinion and was in agreement with him mainly and bowed to his undoubted effort that he put into his research, and to the vigour of his expression to try to help others to understand, his passion came through in every post and will indeed be sorely missed. A son or daughter taken so young surely breaks the hearts of their immediate family, but with the strength of faith, and the support of their community and friends, it will not break their spirit, and it is for that strength that I pray they be given- Amen. Farewell young man, may your spirit forever walk a happy path.
