I would like to first apologize for not having made it into the DS or DV chat room rooms in the past days. It turns out that a neighbor cut our Internet line and well, I’ve not had access for days now. Lovely, eh? LOL! Well, the line has been repaired but th!e Internet is extremely slow! So, I’ve chosen to make a simple post detailing what I was going to say in chat today. A lot has taken place over the past days and I’ve tried my best to catch up on all the news coming out of Iraq. It appears that the political arena is getting a bit of a shake down! This is wonderful for us, in my opinion, as well as the Iraqi people. Many of you know little history of the Iraqi war. When Maliki took office he wasn’t the United States leading man, however we had to appease certain demographics in order to deter the civil war that broke out at that time. Allowing Maliki into his position was a concession and obviously a rather bad one. A little while back it was written that Maliki was involved in the attempt to destroy contracts to cover up his corruption and in the past days it has been revealed that there was another bombing against the CBI… It leads one to wonder….. Economic experts from within Iraq as well as foreign economic advisors in place by the United Nations have been going over the Iraqi economic policies with a fine toothcomb in the past weeks. Many have seen the recent article complaining about the lack of growth of the IQD. The CBI implemented a mechanism geared to raise the value of the Iraqi Dinar in stages, yet they haven’t went to the final stage of allowing it to float against the global market, thus creating it to level off at its current rate. Much of this is assumed to be the fault of the old administration, and it would be extremely difficult to argue against the theory seeming how Maliki is covered in corruption. A few weeks ago the Queen of England gave a speech to the United Nations. The speech itself wasn’t of any importance, however her making an appearance for the first time since 1956 has huge implications as to what else took place behind closed doors given the current state of the European Unions current economic stance. I mentioned to few at the time that her appearance was odd and certainly spoke volumes. Then a few days ago the Pope actually sends a message for Iraq to form a government. The Vatican doesn’t speak unless it has a personal relationship with the situation. If you follow global politics you will rightly understand just how great these two occurrences are to our investment. I was rather stunned when I saw that the Pope followed the Queen on this one and I personally think that the Queen went to see about her investment, so to speak. This may seem far-fetched, however it isn’t. I simply just don’t have the time to explain the details and history leading up to my method in thinking this. Iraq is coming upon a deadline. I will be floored if it extends past the deadline, however anything is possible and they’ve already shown a disregard for their Constitution. It is still my belief that Allawi will form the government, as I have stated all along. I do believe we are watching history unfold before our eyes, and at the same time they are taking forever to write their history. We’ve been on the edge of the RV for months and nearly a year come this November. I certainly pray it doesn’t see November’s date and according to what I’m hearing I believe we will see it before then, but we never know what will happen with Iraq next. What we do know is that the Iraqi government is no longer in absolute control of their outcome. The UN/IMF has stepped in and have taken control back. Now we must see just how soon they will make this happen.

I do not exactly what she does for a living but it is implied that she is way up the food chain and she is in the economics sector of the company she works for. She has contacts in the UN that she works with in a professional capacity......She has contacts on the Foreign Economic Advisory Board. That is an arm of the US treasury department.. Her contact reported that the FEAB had gone to Iraq and negotiated directly with the GOI on issues related to the Iraqi monetary policies and the revaluation of the Dinar. Every quarter they check the books to make sure the monetary policies that have been agreed upon by the GOI are being adhered too. Our government and the IMF and the UN are heavily involved here. Because of her capacity in her work she is connected at some impressive levels within both the US government and the United Nations. Why she works with them has never been explained and she won't explain her professional capacity on the Internet. I don't blame her. I know a guy named Habeeb from Lebanon and another guy named Singe from Pakistan. They aren't nearly as good a contact as groovegal's. OK. Just joking!! Now I am sure it would be better or more convincing for me to give names and titles of here contacts but she has never given out that information and she never will. Given her impressive chats we read all the time I choose to believe her without question. I do so because I have had the opportunity to speak with her extensively late at night when it was just herself and a few others and she was more and willing to explain fully what she knew to an uninformed wretch like me. But educate she did and I truly believe she is very connected and I listen when she speaks. She has never seemed outlandish and always sincere. But what is most impressive is she was always consistent. Even in this latest chat her story is related to information she was sharing last Oct 09. It's not an ever changing story with her. Yes the situation changes and she has always explained what has happened. Try and put a bunch of kids together in a single car just to go to the movies and to me it resembles what we are watching in Iraq. An ever changing mess. Let me put it this way. I'll take groovegal's information any day over the likes of an E or a TK. Even Medic consults with her and he listens to her. He may not always agree with her but that is one person he considers a valuable source of factual information.The lady is straight up. IMO of course.

ive been in Iraq so long, all i want to do is spend every waking moment with my wife and children. Everything else will fall into place.

Hey Doc. I don't know why either. Maybe I should rephrase what my thoughts are. Basically I am questioning why an organization like the WB who is watching the political situation just like us is heavily investing in Iraq. In fact they are investing 2/3rds of their Middle Eastern budget in a country that is teetering on sheer instability because of the Maliki situation. Plus it an eye opener to consider that they will be investing roughly 60 million a month for the next 12 months no matter how stable or unstable the politics in Iraq. That is a lot of money and they are focusing on Iraq when there are other countries out there that have need for funding as well. All facts considered the question is.....why? Now the potential of Iraq is absolutely mind boggling when you consider the potential of return on investment and that is a given. But having said that, Iraq is for lack of a better term shaky right at this moment. We have all witnessed the game plan of Maliki and it is a fact this guy has done all that he could to get his second term. Legally and illegally. So when I question his ability to influence the WB into investing that should be a given as this PM has been recognized as the most corrupt politician in Iraq and we see news reports everyday declaring him corrupt. He has played every end against the middle they have and at this point he has forced a constitutional vacuum of unprecedented proportions. His handling of the elections and the negotiations is bordering on treason if not actually treasonous. Look at articles of the constitution and it clearly says he is helping to set precedence that could likely destroy Iraq's opportunity to be a democracy. His ministers that he has presided over for four years are accused of stealing vast sums of money and violating the constitution over and over again. The accusations keep on coming and where do I read those accusations? In the Arab news services and right here on DV. So again the question remains...What does the World Bank know or even what kind of arrangements does the World Bank that would let them invest in a country on the brink of the abyss if the political situation should cause the population to rise up in revolt. What would convince that organization to invest vast sums of money when things are so unstable. Did they cut a deal with the GOI? Is the GOI that cut that deal going to remain in power? Is the GOI that cut that deal going to emerge as an Iranian puppet? That wouldn't sit well with the rest of the Middle Eastern countries and certainly not with the US or the UN. Why would they invest so heavily at this moment? Actually I think it is a positive sign. My reference to the fact we here at DV watch the Iraqi press so close and we are not hearing positive news. Not at all and here we have this World Bank funded by the World investing very large sums of money. Again Why? Doc. You know I research this stuff and you and I and others get into this. But I never sugarcoat what I am seeing. I try and give a positive spin but I never make it sound better just to make some folks feel better. You can't do that and have a correct view if it has to be sugarcoated. This is a very complicated process and I guess I came off negative which really isn't what I am saying. So again if a positive spin is to be realized about this article it's very simple. If the World Bank is dumping huge resources into Iraq they must know something we don't. Because if the Iraqi government goes to Hell then somebody down at that Bank isn't gonna be there and I for one think that there situations which we know nothing about...In effect Doc..I am just trying to read between the lines. FM, Good question. I do remember reading or hearing in chat a while back that Sonny1 said she is one of the smartest supposed gurus out there. Also, that she is involved or has some sort of contacts in the treasury dept. I believe.

To be honest...Looking at the political situation in Iraq would make me pause and blink because the situation does stand at a crossroad. Democracy or Dictatorship. Now if the World Bank knows more than the general public then fine but right now it just doesn't seem a good time to invest most of your budget into a country seemingly in such dire straits politically. Plus their is no doubt the GOI is one of the most corrupt on the planet. But all of us on DV are junior Iraqi political observers and even though we all hold out hope it's not like much of the public news with regards to Iraq gets by. So again, what does the World Bank know we don't know or is it just that Maliki has bought them too?

I know this is a rumors site, I have to say this and the people who read this will know what I am talking about or who, I have read many post, lots of bashing,people saying we spend to much time on this board,posting nonsense......Well I want to say shame on them, there are some great people on this site.....A few months back I was laid off from my job of many years, I was crushed, was afraid to talk to my own family, even tho I new it was not my fault , I felt like I let them down, how could I explain it, well I came to this board and told everyone......The outpourring of support brought this man to tears, so many good hearts that touched my soul will never be forgotten.It bothers me to see the rude and unthoughtfull things people say.Please understand we all have the same intrest, thats why we are members, so I just want to say thank you, god bless you all....Even if this never happens, you have helped this person through a very tough time, peace.

This just about sums up were we are at, excellent read in my opinion WELL....AS FAR AS THE UN, THEY HAD TOLD IRAQ IN DECEMBER TO ESTABLISH A TIMELINE IN WHICH THEY WOULD JUMP THROUGH THE HOOPS TO BE ABLE TO HAVE CH 7 LIFTED. MOST OF IT WAS OVERSIGHT. SAYING THEY'RE CROOKS IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. SO IRAQ HAD TO START DOING AUDITS, WRITE JOB DESCRIPTIONS, DO EVERYTHING A NORMAL GOVERNMENT WOULD DO. THEY WERE THEN INSTRUCTED TO PROVIDE QUARTERLY REPORTS ON THEIR PROGRESS, AFTER WHICH THE SEC'Y GENERAL WAS ALSO TOLD TO SUMMARIZE THIS PROGRESS IN HIS OWN REPORT A MONTH AFTER IRAQ REPORTED TO HIM. BAMABREEZE FIRST POINTED OUT THE DOCUMENTS DEALING WITH THE DFI WERE ODD--THEY HAD DIFFERENT NUMBERS BUT WHEN IT WAS ALL SAID AND DONE, THE DIFFERENT NUMBERS WEREN'T WHAT THE UN WAS UPSET ABOUT.
