Just heard on news (KFI - Los Angeles) that Iraq is buying 18 F-16 fighter jets from US. Doesn't conflict with Chapt 7 sanctions? If not, explain.

I think i heard, maybe from Adam, I can't remember, that they could "buy" them but not "have or use" them yet. But they need to be ready when they can. Hopefully that is soon!!

This has been discussed before and I believe the general concensus is that A: as long as they are not arming them they are not in violation and/or B: that by the time they are delivered to Iraq the Chapter 7 sanctions should be lifted.

Unarmed F-16s or F-16s that are not capable of being armed are useless. Something is up.

They have ordered them only not taken possession of them and they probably wont until CH 7 is lifted.

I also liked the way were selling F16 talk about obsolete
