ARTICLE:  The PM of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, thanked former US President, George W. Bush, for his role in “liberating Iraq” from the former regime headed by Saddam Hussein in 2003.

 

A statement issued by the Regional Presidency on Wednesday & received by a news agency, stated that, “As part of his visit to the US, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, met yesterday, Tuesday, with former US President George W. Bush.”

 

 During the meeting, according to the statement, Barzani expressed his "thanks and appreciation to President Bush for his support for the people of the Kurdistan region & Iraq, as well as the liberation of Iraq from the dictatorial regime & his support for the democratic system in the country."

 

For his part, Bush sent his special greetings to Masoud Barzani & also expressed his wishes for contentment & prosperity to the people of Kurdistan & all the citizens of Iraq, according to the statement.

ARTICLE:  The Iraqi Private Banks Association praised the government’s interest in digital transformation in all institutional joints, while Huawei confirmed that it provides technology services to telecommunications & digital security companies.

 

 The executive director of the association, Ali Tariq, told the official agency, followed by “Iraq Observer,” that  “there is a government interest in digital transformation in all institutional joints, one of which is the banking and financial sector, which is one of the basics of digital transformation in services, whether governmental or provided through the private sector.”

 

Tariq added,   “The development of the private sector & financial institutions in terms of digital transformation & the adoption of information technology will be a fundamental issue for the overall change in digital transformation in Iraq.”

 

He continued,  "The association brought together banks and financial institutions in Iraq in cooperation with Huawei to see what is happening in the world in terms of transformations in financial services that provide modern methods of banking & financial services.

 

Therefore, the banking & financial sector must keep pace with these developments & adopt the latest global technology to keep pace with what exists outside Iraq.". Tariq noted that   \“the banking sector is one of the sectors that react quickly with regard to adopting technology because many services are provided through mobile applications, banking applications, or adopting financial & banking services remotely & this is in the interest of the financial sector to provide an easy service to the citizen.”

ARTICLE:  Today, Wednesday (March 6, 2024), the Ministry of Interior confirmed the continuation of the campaign to monitor local markets in Baghdad & the rest of the provinces, to prevent price manipulation as the blessed month of Ramadan approaches.

 

The Ministry's spokesman, Brigadier General Miqdad al-Musawi, told Baghdad Today that "the competent forces in the Ministry of Interior from the Economic Security, in coordination with the control teams in the Ministry of Trade, are continuing a campaign to monitor all local markets for the purpose of controlling prices & preventing any manipulation of those prices."

 

Al-Musawi pointed out that "the monitoring and follow-up campaign is continuing in all markets in Baghdad & the provinces & the maximum penalties will be taken against anyone who wants to manipulate prices during these days & during the blessed month of Ramadan & the campaign is continuing to prevent greedy people from exploiting citizens."

 

 Observers believe that the greed of traders & price manipulation is "protected" by "influential parties", with no use to control, which are the same parties that control the Black Dollar market, which exploit the seasons to raise prices and monopolize their import & distribution.

ARTICLE:  The economic & financial advisor to the PM, Mazhar Muhammad Saleh, revealed today, Wednesday, the main reason for implementing the “ASYCUDA” system in Iraq.

 

 Saleh said {to Al-Furat News}, that: “The border crossings in our country have adopted a digital audit & detection system, in addition to the adoption of customs points to completely cover the country’s annual imports with these digital systems & procedures, including the adoption of the global “Asycoda” system, which is currently applied to more than a hundred customs fences around the world."

 

He added, "Its importance comes from controlling the country's air, land & sea ports (border & customs), to which imports of various goods & merchandise flow, whose annual value amounts to nearly 60 billion dollars on average."

Saleh added, "It is dominated by imports from the private or private sector, at a rate of more than 65%."
