Shafaq News / The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed today, Saturday, the summoning of the temporary Chargé d'Affairs at the US Embassy in Baghdad, David Berker.

She said in a statement, received by Shafaq News Agency, that the head of the American Department, Diyari Ahmed Majeed, handed over an official memorandum of protest to the interim Chargé d’Affaires, which included Iraq’s rejection and denunciation of the American aggression that targeted Iraqi security forces as well as civilian sites in the Akashat and Al-Qaim regions, which led to the deaths of martyrs. There were injuries, including civilians, in addition to causing damage to residential buildings and citizens’ property.

Majeed also stressed, according to the statement, Iraq’s once again refusal to let its lands be an arena for settling scores between warring countries. Explaining that "our country is not the appropriate place to send messages and show force between opponents."

He also stressed, “The government will make every effort required by moral, national, and constitutional responsibility to protect our land, our cities, and the lives of our civilians and security forces of all kinds.”

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry confirmed in a statement issued this morning that it would summon the Charge d'Affaires of the United States Embassy in Baghdad, David Berker, due to the absence of the American Ambassador, Alina Romanowski.

At dawn today, the US Army's Central Command reported that its forces launched 85 air strikes in Iraq and Syria, targeting sites of the Quds Force of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its affiliated militia groups.

US President Joe Biden had directed the military forces to strike targets in Iraq and Syria that were used by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and its militias to attack American forces, he said, stressing that although the United States was not seeking escalation in the Middle East, it would inevitably respond to those who Hurts Americans.

White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby confirmed on Saturday that the Iraqi government had already been informed before the air attacks were launched.

In turn, Iraqi government spokesman Bassem Al-Awadi denied the existence of prior coordination between Baghdad and Washington regarding the strikes directed by American forces targeting security forces’ positions in Anbar Governorate, west of the country, confirming that there were 16 casualties and 25 wounded as a result of that “aggression.”

Shafaq News / An official military source in the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces reported, on Saturday, that the Royal Jordanian Air Force did not participate in the air strikes carried out by the American Air Force inside Iraqi territory.

The source stated, according to what was reported by the official Jordanian Petra Agency, that “there is no truth to the press reports that were circulated this morning about the participation of Jordanian aircraft in the operations carried out by American aircraft inside Iraq.”

The source stressed that "the Jordanian Armed Forces - the Arab Army respects the sovereignty of brotherly Iraq," stressing "the depth of the fraternal relations that unite Jordan with all Arab countries."

At dawn today, the US Army's Central Command reported that its forces launched 85 air strikes in Iraq and Syria, targeting sites of the Quds Force of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its affiliated militia groups.

Some information reported earlier today, Saturday, that F-16 aircraft belonging to the Royal Jordanian Air Force participated in the air strikes led by the United States last night.

The sources indicated that the Jordanian planes joined after targets were identified, according to what was reported by the Wall Street Journal. They pointed out that Jordan’s role came to show solidarity with the United States in the wake of the drone strike on Tower 22, a military site in Jordan near From the Syrian border.

The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasoul, on Saturday morning, considered the American strikes that targeted areas in the west of the country a “violation of Iraqi sovereignty.”

If the US actually informed & got permission from the Iraqis for the air strikes, it would appear that their statements and follow-up comments and actions are to  save face in the eyes of all the other Arab nations, and not appear to be in collusion with the US. Just a thought - RON

An “extraordinary” session of the Iraqi parliament, an “emergency” meeting of the presidencies, and a political condemnation of the American bombing

An “extraordinary” session of the Iraqi parliament, an “emergency” meeting of the presidencies, and a political condemnation of the American bombing

Shafaq News / On Saturday, the Presidency of the Republic in Iraq called for an emergency meeting of the bloc’s presidencies to discuss the recent American bombing on the headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces, which claimed the lives of 16 people, including civilians, while the House of Representatives confirmed its intention to hold an “extraordinary” session to deliberate on the bombing.

The presidency said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, “The aggression against the city of Al-Qaim in Anbar Governorate and other Iraqi border areas in the west of the country by the United States, which resulted in the martyrdom and injury of a number of citizens, represents a blatant violation of Iraqi sovereignty, despite the Iraqi government’s announcement more than once.” It rejects such actions, and these attacks escalate tensions and threaten the security and stability of the region as a whole.”

She added, "Iraq has expressed a clear desire to organize the work of the international coalition through a round of talks, but yesterday's attacks will undermine the chances of success of the ongoing negotiations, as violence only breeds violence and aggravation, calling on all parties to assume their national responsibilities towards what the country is exposed to." Risks and threats that have persisted for months may destabilize security and stability and expose the lives and safety of citizens to danger.”

The Presidency stressed the importance of holding an emergency meeting of the presidencies and political blocs to discuss these developments and repercussions and to take clear and unified positions that preserve the country’s dignity, sovereignty, and citizens’ security.

For its part, the Presidency of the Iraqi Council of Representatives expressed its strong condemnation of the American aggression against Iraqi security sites in the Akashat and Al-Qaim regions at dawn today, and neighboring civilian places, which led to 16 casualties and 25 wounded, including civilians.

The Presidency confirmed in a statement that “the House of Representatives is determined to hold an extraordinary (emergency) session in the coming days, to determine the recurrence of the American attacks on the country, and to put an end to the violations of the sovereignty and lives of Iraqis by the international coalition forces, indicating that the recurrence of the American attacks on Iraqi security headquarters is a great disdain that cannot be.” "Accept it."

The Presidency renewed its call to the government to expedite the implementation of Legislative Resolution No. (18) of the year (2020), issued by the House of Representatives, which includes the removal of international coalition forces from the country, because there is no need for them to remain and because they have become a threat to the security, stability, and sovereignty of Iraq, stressing that the aforementioned decision represents a national will. It is popular, and its implementation is an urgent necessity to preserve the country’s sovereignty and the lives of citizens.

At dawn today, the US Army's Central Command reported that its forces launched 85 air strikes in Iraq and Syria, targeting sites of the Quds Force of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its affiliated militia groups.

For his part, the head of the Nabni Alliance, Hadi Al-Amiri, renewed his strong denunciation and denunciation of the American bombing that targeted Iraqi security forces last night in the Al-Qaim and Akashat regions.

Al-Amiri said in a statement, “What America committed last night by targeting security headquarters with clear tasks and whose primary duty is to protect Iraq and its borders from terrorism, indicates, without the slightest doubt, that its aggressive approach is open to all arenas, and is not subject to known standards, so we call on the Prime Minister, To continue his tireless and serious efforts to quickly end the evil and scourge caused by the foreign military presence in our country, in order to preserve national sovereignty, and to preserve the safety of our security forces and the lives of our citizens.”

In turn, Iraqi National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji commented and said, “A new aggression and blatant violation. This aggressive strike will put security in Iraq and the region on the brink of abyss, and it also contradicts efforts to establish the required stability.”

The Iraqi government denies prior coordination of US strikes and confirms the toll of casualties and wounded

The Iraqi government denies prior coordination of US strikes and confirms the toll of casualties and wounded

Shafaq News / The Iraqi government spokesman, Bassem Al-Awadi, denied on Saturday that there was prior coordination between Baghdad and Washington regarding the strikes directed by American forces targeting security forces’ positions in Anbar Governorate, west of the country, confirming that there were 16 casualties and 25 wounded as a result of that “aggression.”

Al-Awadi said in a statement today, “The American administration committed a new aggression against the sovereignty of Iraq, as the locations of our security forces, in the Akashat and Al-Qaim regions, as well as neighboring civilian places, were bombed by several American aircraft.”

He added, "This blatant aggression led to 16 martyrs, including civilians, in addition to 25 wounded. It also caused losses and damage to residential buildings and citizens' property."

Al-Awdi also pointed out that “the American side then deliberately deceived and falsified the facts, by announcing prior coordination to commit this aggression, which is a false claim aimed at misleading international public opinion and disavowing legal responsibility for this rejected crime in accordance with all international laws and laws.”

He added, "This aggressive strike will put security in Iraq and the region on the brink of the abyss, and it also contradicts efforts to establish the required stability."

The federal government spokesman went on to say, "Iraq reiterates its refusal to let its lands be an arena for settling scores, and all parties must realize this. Our country's land and sovereignty are not the appropriate place to send messages and show force between opponents."

He stressed that "the presence of the international coalition, which deviated from the tasks assigned to it and the mandate granted to it, has become a reason for threatening security and stability in Iraq and a justification for involving Iraq in regional and international conflicts."

Al-Awadi continued to say, "The Iraqi government will make every effort required by moral, national, and constitutional responsibility to protect our land, our cities, and the lives of our children in all types of armed forces."

The Anbar Operations Command of the Popular Mobilization Forces had reported, earlier this morning, that more than 40 members of the Mobilization Forces had fallen victim or wounded as a result of the American bombing that targeted their positions in the governorate, which is located in western Iraq.

The command said in a statement it published, “The 13th Al-Tafuf Brigade lost 16 martyrs and 25 wounded as a result of the cowardly American aggression on the Al-Anbar Operations Sector of the PMF.”

White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby confirmed on Saturday that the Iraqi government had already been informed before the air attacks were launched.

Kirby stressed that "the American response began tonight, and will not end tonight."

The American official noted, "We believe that the strikes were successful, and we do not know how many militants may have been killed or injured."

The White House confirmed that all air strikes succeeded in hitting their targets in Iraq and Syria.

Kirby stated that "the facilities that were targeted are used by groups affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard to target American forces in the Middle East."

He noted that "there have been no contacts with Iran since the killing of 3 American soldiers in northeastern Jordan."

At dawn today, the US Army's Central Command reported that its forces launched 85 air strikes in Iraq and Syria, targeting sites of the Quds Force of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its affiliated militia groups.

That's also a likely possibility. Ron)

If the Iraqi government was so "Stable", so "Secure", so "Sovereign" and not puppets of Iran, they would not let these armed militias in their country.

I think, the Iraqi government talks out of both sides of their mouth at the same time.

One side is pro -Iranian and talks a big anti-American game to their Iranian puppet masters, to keep them appeased.

The other side patronizes the citizens, fearing riots, saying how great things are, we are making such great progress oh and of course then they hold out their hand for more foreign aid from the West playing the victim card.

Just sayin' and thinkin' .................
