Iraqi government spokesman for Al-Awadi said on Monday that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudanese has a determination to regulate the market and the trade process, while pointing out that new packages and measures will be launched to protect the Iraqi currency and modernize the financial system.

Al-Awadi said in a statement to the official channel followed by (Al-Oula News): “The visit of the Iraqi delegation to Washington was important,” noting, “Iraq welcomes the relationship with the United States and tries to strengthen it in many areas."

He added, "The discussions that took place in Washington focused on economic cooperation, the energy sector, and climate change, as the US administration welcomed the Iraqi efforts to enact economic reforms, and the American side emphasized the government's continuous efforts to protect the banking system, which is a tribute to the firm measures taken by the Iraqi government." About the exchange rate and work together to modernize the financial system.

He continued, "There is a congruence in understanding the importance of seeking energy independence, as the Iraqi and American sides decided to accelerate efforts to extract associated gas," pointing out, "The American side praised Iraq's commitment to electrical interconnection projects, and it was also agreed that Iraq would publish a comprehensive strategy to confront Climate change".

Al-Awadi stated, "The Iraqi delegation discussed the water crisis in Iraq, and the possibility of Iraq opening up to American private sector companies," explaining, "The American side indicated that the American embassy had begun to grant visas to non-immigrants."

He stressed, "All these points were discussed seriously, and their details will be agreed upon soon," pointing out, "The Iraqi and American sides agreed on a set of measures to modernize the financial system, and there will be joint action and the launch of new packages and laws with the aim of protecting the Iraqi currency."

And Al-Awadi indicated that “Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’a Al-Sudani insisted on regulating the Iraqi market and the trade process in a new way,” stressing that “the government is determined to correct it through a package of measures that began since last November.”

I would say this is one of the hold ups....maybe private banks are NOT ready
