On February 2, the Peshmerga forces announced that a brigade had joined the Iraqi Ministry of Defense within the agreement on security coordination and joint operations, confirming the completion of procedures and preparations for initiating joint coordination plans to address the security voids between the army and the Peshmerga.

Brigade 20 includes more than 2,000 Peshmerga fighters who are under the authority and management of the Iraqi Ministry of Defense to start joint operations with the federal forces extending from the outskirts of Khanaqin, northeast of Diyala, to the Rabia area on the outskirts of Nineveh Governorate, to fill and address the security voids left by the Peshmerga withdrawal from their positions in 2017.

The joint coordination agreement between the defense and the Peshmerga includes 4 items, the first is the opening of the joint coordination centers, the second is controlling security gaps between the army and the Peshmerga, the third is the opening and installation of joint checkpoints between the two sides, and the fourth is expansionary operations in the axes to comb the partitions and chase ISIS hotbeds and dens, as well as the exchange of security and intelligence information to combat terrorism.

In Diyala, a force affiliated with the Popular Mobilization carried out a raid and search operation for a number of villages in the Saadiya district, which resulted in the discovery of a stack of equipment containing 21 RPGs, ships, a launcher, and ten prepared fillings.
