He noted that "this step may push the political forces to thwart Al-Kazemi's plan by international intervention and asylum, to postpone the elections again to a later date other than the date specified in the first postponement."

He explained that, "If this step is completed, it is likely to be canceled and to go to the completion of the fourth legislative session of the House of Representatives, which ends in September 2022, provided that elections will be held 45 days before the aforementioned date."

He pointed out that "this postponement may lead to their return to protests to the sit-in squares, to demand the dissolution of the House of Representatives and the overthrow of the Prime Minister, who is seen as having brought pressure from the protesters to hold early elections."

The Board of Commissioners of the Independent High Electoral Commission in Iraq decided today, Tuesday, that Iraqi communities abroad will not participate in the elections scheduled to take place on the tenth of next October.

The Commission said in a press statement, "The Iraqi Parliament's Election Law No. 9 of 2020 stipulates that (Iraqis abroad vote for their constituencies using the biometric card exclusively)."

The Commission pointed out that "the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has apologized for conducting the registration and voting process in Iraqi embassies and consulates due to the impossibility of establishing them at the current stage and for this electoral cycle."

She emphasized that "conducting the electoral process in places that are not subject to Iraqi sovereignty makes it subject to the laws of those countries and that the Iraqi judiciary has no jurisdiction over the violations and abuses that may occur."
