Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America .. Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation.. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to.... This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:

First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known.. Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.

Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the ' 60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream. Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks -- with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas -- to advance black applicants over white applicants. Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated their time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.

We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude??

Barack talks about new 'ladders of opportunity' for blacks. Let him go to Altoona ? And Johnstown , and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for 'deserving' white kids...? Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America ? Is it really white America 's fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent?

Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself?

As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time?

Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse?

We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke rape case and Jena . And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing.

Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago. This needs to be passed around because, this is a message everyone needs to hear!!!

.It has become almost acceptable to characterize welfare recipients as irresponsible, negligent baby-breeders on a free ride, courtesy of the taxpaying public. Popular portrayals are of mothers dependent on the government for support, who breed babies for the sole purpose of collecting undeserved welfare checks. And what is implied--if not overtly expressed--by social scientists, politicians, the media, and many Americans is that the vast majority of these women are Black.

"It's clear that welfare has a Black face," says Dr. Mary Frances Berry, chairperson of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. "Whenever you see television or news shows about welfare, only occasionally will they show someone who is not African-American," she says. "The assumption is that when you speak of welfare, you're speaking of Black people."

The facts, however, reveal an entirely different picture that underscores the difference between the rhetoric that would have one believe that most welfare recipients are Black and the reality that the majority of them are White. "I think welfare and crime are two of what I call 'racially loaded' issues," says Dr. Ronald Walters, chairman of the political science department at Howard University. "The social function that they perform is that they give people a way to talk about race without actually articulating the concept. It's a way of talking about Black people without actually saying 'those Black people.'"

Racist attitudes notwithstanding, it is a matter of record that White mothers receive more than half of the checks distributed under the auspices of the Aid to Families with Dependent Children program--55.2 percent, compared to 39.2 percent received by Blacks. Additionally, the U.S. Census Bureau reported in February that during an average month in 1990, 61 percent of major assistance program participants were White, compared to 34 percent who were African-American.

Social Security is the nation's largest welfare program, although many Whites prefer to call it a retirement plan. The government writes retirement and disability benefit checks to 35.4 million recipients of whom 88.7 percent are White and 9.6 percent are Black. The reason behind this shocking disparity is perhaps the most lamentable of all: The life expectancy rate for Blacks is six years shorter than that of Whites, meaning Black workers spend years paying into a retirement system only to have White retirees reap the benefits for a longer time.

Welfare critics rarely search the Social Security rolls for "welfare cheats," but train their sights on people getting Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC), Medicaid and food stamps, the relief programs with the most Black clients. Yet government figures show that Whites not Blacks make up the bulk of clients on these public aid programs; a fact that dispels the notion that Blacks are scheming for a free lunch courtesy of the American taxpayer.

Among the poorest of the poor--single mothers, living below the poverty line with minor children to support 39.7 percent of AFDC clients are Black single mothers and 38.1 percent are White women with children. Food stamp recipients are 37.2 percent Black and 46.2 percent White. Medicaid benefits are paid to 27.5 percent Black recipients compared to 48.5 percent White clients.

Although the numbers show that Whites get the biggest chunk of public aid dollars, welfare critics still charge that Blacks shouldn't collect 33 percent of welfare benefits when they only make up 12 percent of the general population. They say the imbalance proves their case that Blacks are too busy complaining and blaming racism for their plight to look for a job.

But racism is at the heart of the standard-of-living gap between Blacks and Whites, welfare advocates argue. Unlawful race-based hiring practices, they contend, keep Blacks from getting jobs that pay enough to lift them out of poverty. Until more blue-collar jobs open up to Black workers, Blacks will continue to battle poverty and the freeloader misconception.

"Public and congressional deliberations over... welfare reform in the last few years have been fueled by distortions and outright falsehoods about poverty," the National Urban League asserted in its 1988 report, Black Americans and Public Policy. "Welfare reform is not solely a Black issue, but one in need of immediate attention."

Turning welfare reform into a "Black issue" makes racial scapegoating easy and allows stereotypes, like the Reaganera "welfare queen," to go unchallenged, public aid supporters say. Rightwing reformers cast Whites as "deserving" clients who are legitimately unable to pay their own way through no fault of their own. Blacks are labeled "undeserving" recipients who are looking for the feds to subsidize their slothfulness.

Attaching a moral value to work is not a new convention; it is a philosophy deeply rooted in the religious beliefs and social welfare laws that Anglo-Saxon settlers brought to the New World. These values were imposed upon poor immigrants from other European countries who later perpetuated them after moving into mainstream society.

The Puritanical work ethic faced its greatest challenge following the stock market crash of 1929 and the Great Depression of the 1930s. The nation was forced to re-think its social welfare conventions when it realized that economic forces--not misplaced values--could lead to financial disaster. President Franklin D. Roosevelts New Deal programs and the adoption of the Social Security Act of 1935 symbolized the country's commitment to protecting family and personal incomes. President Lyndon B. Johnson's Great Society anti-poverty programs of the 1960s ushered in some of the programs of today's welfare system.

The duty of government has been a controversial topic in America since its inception. Programs like welfare are constantly scrutinized for their purpose and efficiency. The real numbers associated with welfare programs are unknown to many on both sides of the issue. Emotional responses often get in the way of an analysis of true welfare statistics. END

Now the Facts.

Welfare is the name given to a set of interconnected programs aimed at low income families. Programs include job training and family planning. It also includes cash assistance. In 1994, whites made up 38 percent of all welfare recipients, blacks 37 percent and hispanics 17 percent. 2008 it shifted to 41 percent white but again the percentage of the black population is only 12%. We don't have the figures for 2010. There are many programs and these statistics change with each program....

In the United States, welfare may also be used in a more specialized context, to refer specifically to what was historically known as Aid to Families with Dependent Children, and is now known as Temporary Assistance to Needy Families. Since 1997 this welfare system has been handled by the states, who use money given to them by the Federal government as they see fit. This welfare system is limited to a maximum of 60 months during the recipient’s lifetime, and has a requirement that while receiving assistance the recipient must be actively seeking new employment.

Yet blacks are only 12% of the population it is proportionately black dominated program.... seems it would be majority in precentage as black recipients not whites

But then it would be a person hung up on race to really need to bring this up to begin with....

THE REAL FACT IS this nation is in real trouble when the people are sooooo blinded by race that they aren't seeing what is happening to us, real trouble when this much population is growing at an alarming rate dependant on government for support and unable to find jobs or believe they need to. The socialistic attitudes are teaching people "why work" or "they owe us" or it is someone elses fault they are in the situation they are in. IF we allow this to continue with all the socialistic programs and excellerated taxes we will become a nation like Russia or Korea where the people don't know how to capitalize on the ability to become self sufficient and prosper. The tax burden will break the back of Americans and we will become a welfare state.

It is a shame that any race will resort to blaming the other. This attitude has kept people a slave to their mindsets. Mindsets that say "I can't because" . The many native Americans has limited themselves to reservations limiting their ability to prosper. Many black America won't even try because they say the whites will oppress them, they even call their own who venture out into the American dream "whites" because they say they have abandoned their people to join the whites. And now there are whites who are saying they don't have a chance because all the programs are set up for minorities to get ahead of them wiithout having to work for it. We are in trouble people and we need to level the playing field and stop looking at the color of the skin and realize we are Americans who have a great nation with the possibility to grow and prosper. We are not under dictators..... we'll we weren't .... who say they are the elite and we are only the servants to keep their luxuries coming. Wake up America before it is too late and don't vote because of color, race, or party but vote because the person has the heart for "WE THE PEOPLE" and realizing the wonder of our constitution. the freedoms and liberties. Find people who won't sell us out to who ever will line their pockets or have personal agendas or vendetas. UNITY is the key, unite and vote to keep us all from ending up on welfare.

Expiration of 2001 and 2003 Tax Relief

In 2001 and 2003, the GOP Congress enacted several tax cuts for

investors, small business owners, and families.

These will all expire on January 1, 2011:

Personal income tax rates will rise. The top

income tax rate will rise from 35 to 39.6 percent (this is also the rate

at which two-thirds of small business profits are taxed). The

lowest rate will rise from 10 to 15 percent. All the rates in

between will also rise. Itemized deductions and personal exemptions

will again phase out, which has the same mathematical effect as higher

marginal tax rates. The full list of marginal rate hikes is below:

- The 10% bracket rises to an expanded 15%

- The 25% bracket rises to 28%

- The 28% bracket rises to 31%

- The 33% bracket rises to 36%

- The 35% bracket rises to 39.6%

Higher taxes on marriage and family. The

“marriage penalty” (narrower tax brackets for married

couples) will return from the first dollar of income. The child tax

credit will be cut in half from $1000 to $500 per child. The

standard deduction will no longer be doubled for married couples relative

to the single level. The dependent care and adoption tax credits

will be cut.

The return of the Death Tax.

This year, there is no death tax. For those dying on or after January 1 2011, there is a 55 percent

top death tax rate on estates over $1 million. A person leaving behind two homes and a retirement

account could easily pass along a death tax bill to their loved ones.

Higher tax rates on savers and investors.

The capital gains tax will rise from 15 percent this year to 20 percent in

2011. The dividends tax will rise from 15 percent this year to 39.6

percent in 2011. These rates will rise another 3.8 percent in 2013.

Second Wave:

Obamacare

There are over twenty new or higher taxes in Obamacare. Several will first go into effect on

January 1, 2011. They include:

The “Medicine Cabinet Tax”

Thanks to Obamacare, Americans will no longer be able to use health

savings account (HSA), flexible spending account (FSA), or health

reimbursement (HRA) pre-tax dollars to purchase non-prescription,

over-the-counter medicines (except insulin).

The “Special Needs Kids Tax”

This provision of Obamacare imposes a cap on flexible spending accounts (FSAs)

of $2500 (Currently, there is no federal government limit). There

is one group of FSA owners for whom this new cap will be particularly

cruel and onerous: parents of special needs children. There are

thousands of families with special needs children in the United States

, and many of them use FSAs to pay for special needs education.

Tuition rates at one leading school that teaches special needs children

in Washington , D.C. ( National Child Research Center ) can easily exceed $14,000 per year.

Under tax rules, FSA dollars can not be used to pay for this type of special

needs education.

The HSA Withdrawal Tax Hike.

This provision of Obamacare increases the additional tax on non-medical early withdrawals

from an HSA from 10 to 20 percent, disadvantaging them relative to IRAs

and other tax-advantaged accounts, which remain at 10 percent.

Third Wave:

The Alternative Minimum Tax and Employer Tax Hikes

When Americans prepare to file their tax returns in January of 2011,

they’ll be in for a nasty surprise—the AMT won’t be

held harmless, and many tax relief provisions will have expired.

The major items include:

The AMT will ensnare over 28 million families, up from 4 million last year.

According to the left-leaning Tax Policy Center , Congress’ failure to index the AMT will lead to

an explosion of AMT taxpaying families—rising from 4 million last

year to 28.5 million. These families will have to calculate their

tax burdens twice, and pay taxes at the higher level. The AMT was

created in 1969 to ensnare a handful of taxpayers.

Small business expensing will be slashed and 50% expensing will disappear.

Small businesses can normally expense (rather than slowly-deduct, or

“depreciate”) equipment purchases up to $250,000. This

will be cut all the way down to $25,000. Larger businesses can

expense half of their purchases of equipment. In January of 2011,

all of it will have to be “depreciated.”

Taxes will be raised on all types of businesses.

There are literally scores of tax hikes on business that will take

place. The biggest is the loss of the “research and

experimentation tax credit,” but there

are many, many others. Combining high marginal tax rates with

the loss of this tax relief will cost jobs.

Tax Benefits for Education and Teaching Reduced.

The deduction for tuition and fees will not be available. Tax credits

for education will be limited. Teachers will no longer be able to

deduct classroom expenses. Coverdell Education Savings Accounts

will be cut. Employer-provided educational assistance is

curtailed. The student loan interest deduction will be disallowed

for hundreds of thousands of families.

Charitable Contributions from IRAs no longer allowed.

Under current law, a retired person with an IRA can contribute up to

$100,000 per year directly to a charity from their IRA. This

contribution also counts toward an annual “required minimum

distribution.” This ability will no longer be there.

insurance is INCOME on your W2's......

we'll find come next year, is what follows - - a little

"surprise" that 99% of us had no idea was included in the

"new and improved" healthcare legislation . . . the

dupes, er, dopes, who backed this administration will be

astonished!

Starting in 2011, (next year folks), your W-2 tax form sent by

your employer will be increased to show the value of whatever

health insurance you are given by the company. It does not

matter if that's a private concern or governmental body of

some sort. If you're retired? So what; your gross

will go up by the amount of insurance you get.

You will be required to pay taxes on a large sum of money that you

have never seen. Take your tax form you just finished

and see what $15,000 or $20,000 additional gross does to your

tax debt. That's what you'll pay next year. For

many, it also puts you into a new higher bracket so it's even

worse.

This is how the government is going to buy insurance for the15% that don't

have insurance and it's only part of the tax increases.

ok this maybe true but.....when the US black population is estimated at around 12% and the white at around 65% they seem pretty equal. it would average a little over 1 million per % for balcks and less than 1 million per % for whites. so yes there may be more whites on welfare than blacks. but what do you expect when the white population is more than 5 times the black population. at any rate it doesn't matter what race you are unless you are physically unable to work you should not be able to collect welfare. these people who take advantage and are just plain lazy are the ones who need to get off their butts and quit living off the govt. it is time for the usa to wake up and quit giving handouts to those who aren't willing to try to do for themselves and their family. this goes for everyone. and quit spending our tax money on the illegals and giving them handouts also.

Among the poorest of the poor--single mothers, living below the poverty line with minor children to support 39.7 percent of AFDC clients are Black single mothers and 38.1 percent are White women with children. Food stamp recipients are 37.2 percent Black and 46.2 percent White. Medicaid benefits are paid to 27.5 percent Black recipients compared to 48.5 percent White clients.

Although the numbers show that Whites get the biggest chunk of public aid dollars, welfare critics still charge that Blacks shouldn't collect 33 percent of welfare benefits when they only make up 12 percent of the general population. They say the imbalance proves their case that Blacks are too busy complaining and blaming racism for their plight to look for a job.

But racism is at the heart of the standard-of-living gap between Blacks and Whites, welfare advocates argue. Unlawful race-based hiring practices, they contend, keep Blacks from getting jobs that pay enough to lift them out of poverty. Until more blue-collar jobs open up to Black workers, Blacks will continue to battle poverty and the freeloader misconception.

"Public and congressional deliberations over... welfare reform in the last few years have been fueled by distortions and outright falsehoods about poverty," the National Urban League asserted in its 1988 report, Black Americans and Public Policy. "Welfare reform is not solely a Black issue, but one in need of immediate attention."

Turning welfare reform into a "Black issue" makes racial scapegoating easy and allows stereotypes, like the Reaganera "welfare queen," to go unchallenged, public aid supporters say. Rightwing reformers cast Whites as "deserving" clients who are legitimately unable to pay their own way through no fault of their own. Blacks are labeled "undeserving" recipients who are looking for the feds to subsidize their slothfulness.

Attaching a moral value to work is not a new convention; it is a philosophy deeply rooted in the religious beliefs and social welfare laws that Anglo-Saxon settlers brought to the New World. These values were imposed upon poor immigrants from other European countries who later perpetuated them after moving into mainstream society.

The Puritanical work ethic faced its greatest challenge following the stock market crash of 1929 and the Great Depression of the 1930s. The nation was forced to re-think its social welfare conventions when it realized that economic forces--not misplaced values--could lead to financial disaster. President Franklin D. Roosevelts New Deal programs and the adoption of the Social Security Act of 1935 symbolized the country's commitment to protecting family and personal incomes. President Lyndon B. Johnson's Great Society anti-poverty programs of the 1960s ushered in some of the programs of today's welfare system.

There is always something to do on the farm. If it is milking the cows, Bailing some hay, killing a hog or just hoeing a row. Hard work and a lot of fun. I drove my first tractor when I was just ten years old. I've also walked behind many mules. My grandfather was white. blonde hair and blue eyes, but my grandmother was black. So what am I ? What race would that make me? I was taught to just be a man. But better men can deciede what race you are. So what precent of me is white and what percent is black? And what percent are you? I don't know what Obama is, but he is the President. I am willing to bet every black family in the U.S. has a white person in it. And every white family in the U.S has and will be getting a black or someone of another race soon. So really the whole race issue is dead. Now it's just called hatred or just plain ignorant. ( Christian ) God is of many colors. race and hate was not one. What color is your blood? The cross tells it all. Love doesn't have a color. God Is love. What are you talking about, we went to the moon and there was no one there to check the passport of our astronaughts. Neal Armstrong was not an ileagal alien. No Visa was required to go to the moon. The USA has laws on how to enter this country, failure to obey the laws makes a person ILLEGAL.
