Head of the European Union's delegation to Iraq said that talks are underway to send Iraqi immigrants back home, The Baghdad Post reported.

Patrick Simonnet disclosed that the EU countries held a meeting with Iraqi officials to discuss the matter.

In a press conference, Simonnet said the return would be "voluntary" and in cooperation with the Iraqi government.

Iraq witnessed the greatest immigration move in its history after ISIS terror group had recaptured large swathes of the country in 2014.

The EU announced that it granted Iraq 160 million Euros (172 million dollars) during the past year for different sectors in the country.

Simonnet pointed that the total EU assistance in 1015 reached to 105 million Euros (114 million dollars), in addition to material assistance of 260 tons in 2016.

For the EU even to be talking about this should be telling us something. The EU for sure does not want to send them back into a dangerous area with all the crap they gave to US for not taking Iraqis.

THIS situation requires close monitoring
