tigergorzow Posted February 24, 2017 Report Share Posted February 24, 2017 Abadi, US secretary of state probe Mosul's right bank operations February 23 2017 12:39 PM Abadi US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has discussed with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi the military operations to liberate the right bank of Mosul city.Abadi told Tillerson that military operations to retake Mosul's right bank is moving faster than planned.Both sides discussed means of promoting relations between the two countries, military operations to recapture Mosul's right bank and international support for Iraq in its fighting against terrorism, Abadi's media office said in a statement.Abadi also confirmed that the military operations in the right bank is moving faster despite many difficulties, noting that the strategy of ongoing operations is to safeguard Iraqi civilians. In the meantime, he praised the international support for Iraq in its fight against ISIS terrorism.Tillerson affirmed that US will continue supporting Iraq in its war against terrorism and resetting stability to all provinces pointing at great efforts made by Iraqi government for Iraq unity. This will led to a long term stability in Iraq, he added.On Sunday, Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi announced the launch of a military operation to retake the western bank of Mosul from ISIS terrorist group.“We announce the start of a new phase in the operation, we are coming to Nineveh to liberate the western side of Mosul,” Abadi said in a brief televised address.Iraqi jets have dropped millions of leaflets in western Mosul, calling on residents to get ready to welcome the Iraqi troops as they continue the siege on the militants.The latest operation to free the city from the terrorists began on October 17. After months of fighting, the coalition managed to secure the right bank of the city last month. Things are moving fast for sure.
