Sentinel7
Pelosi: If Republicans Don’t Trust the President, ‘Why Don’t We Just Pack Up and Go Home’ February 6, 2014 By Todd Cefaratti On Thursday, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi lashed out at Republicans over the issue of immigration and boldly declared that if Republicans can’t trust President Obama to enforce the laws, “Why don’t we just pack up and go home?” Rep. Pelosi was responding to Speaker Boehner’s remarks that suggested that Republicans are hesitant to work on the issue of quelling illegal immigration because they simply cannot trust the president to enforce laws created. “There’s widespread doubt about whether this administration can be trusted to enforce our laws, and it’s going to be difficult to move any immigration legislation until that changes,” Boehner said. To this notion, Rep. Pelosi responded, “When [Republicans] say … they don’t trust the president to do it, why don’t we just pack up and go home? We have a Democratic system. We have checks and balances. We have three branches of government. In fact, we’re the first in the Constitution — the legislative branch. And what we’re supposed to do is legislate, and not make up excuses as to why we don’t.” “That’s not a reason not to do an immigration bill, that’s an excuse not to do it,” she added. “And around here, you have to always differentiate between what is a reason and what is an excuse.” Though it’s rare, in this instance, John Boehner is right. Anybody- Republican, conservative, or independent- should be skeptical about Obama’s willingness to enforce laws. Though the president, our executive, remains duty-bound to serve as the chief law enforcer in the nation, this president routinely disregards laws he dislikes and creates new de facto laws without proper legislation from Congress. Pelosi acts as if it’s absurd to not trust the president, but the right knows better; it’s actually quite absurd to trust the president. Pelosi postured and lectured about the separate branches of government, but she and her Democrat allies have facilitated continual breaches of these separations of powers by the president. If she truly must lecture about the value of separate powers for separate branches, she need not remind Republicans but should, instead, phone President Obama, a supposed constitutional scholar, and detail to him the constitutional authority granted to executives. Should we trust President Obama to dutifully execute the immigration laws passed by Congress? Considering that the president unilaterally declared de facto amnesty by all-but eliminating deportations in clear violation of existing U.S. law, it is not a theoretical possibility that the president could disregard immigration laws- he’s already done it! Before Congress can even think of passing any laws regarding the millions of illegal immigrant already here, the first priority simply must be border security. When Democrats show that they’re serious about quelling the tide of incoming illegal immigrants, then, and only then, should Republicans be willing to sit and discuss reform policies. Until then, Republicans simply cannot trust Democrats and truly cannot trust President Obama. I personally think that DC packing up and going home is a grand idea’ No Surrender No Retreat and No Compromise

bigwave
I hope my fellow Californians can finally get a grip and toss them out. We desperately need redistricting in our state. Two cities control the rest LA and SF. Seems like the 60's were good for those two regions. So sad.
